Help creating new pages[edit]

{{helpme}} I am unable to create new pages. When I click on a create new page link, it appears that an index.php is getting sent to my web browser. What do I need to do create a new page? Reddyuday (talk) 16:09, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

This is VERY SERIOUS. Come to IRC, on #wikimedia-tech, to discuss this. fahadsadah (talk, contribs) 16:44, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Problem solved. Reddyuday (talk) 16:23, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Virtual folder[edit]

Sorry but I've reverted your recent addition to the Virtual folder article. Your source doesn't mention any features of VM really. Could you please find a source that mentions this feature of VM and add it to the article? Thanks. AlistairMcMillan (talk) 14:58, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Gujarat riots[edit]

Since you appear to be interested of late in adding links to that page, I just thought I'd let you know about WP:OVERLINK, in case you were not aware of it; also, there is a useful tool called "Highlight duplicate links" in the toolbar on the left, that can help avoid the problem. Regards, Vanamonde93 (talk) 10:04, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

@Vanamonde93: Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I can't find the "Highlight duplicate links" tool. Do I have to install something to get it? I understand the point about overlinking. However, I think a certain amount of "overlinking" is reasonable in the 2002 Gujarat riots because it is a long and tedious article, and we don't expect a typical reader to read it at one go from top to bottom. The main thing I have been trying to do is to identify the command structure of the Hindutva attacks, and link them in (e.g., Gordhan Zadafia, Maya Kodnani, Jaideep Patel, etc.). Uday Reddy (talk) 11:59, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
I am not necessarily arguing for a strict interpretation of the policy, just keep it in mind. It is strange that you cannot find the link; perhaps some installation has slipped my mind, I will investigate. Vanamonde93 (talk) 11:20, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
You were right, some installation is required, just see the instructions at this link. It is not complicated. Vanamonde93 (talk) 11:25, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

A Barnstar for you![edit]

Original Barnstar.png The Original Barnstar
For being able to sink our initial differences, and editing with a cool head and respect for neutrality through the current fracas. Here's to further success. Cheers, Vanamonde93 (talk) 06:54, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
Thank you Vanamonde93. I am really happy to receive a barnstar from you, even though my "cool head" probably broke down today :-) Uday Reddy (talk) 15:42, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

Appreciate your sportsmanship and not taking things personally.[edit]

Regards. --AmritasyaPutra 12:35, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

@AmritasyaPutra: No, I don't take things personally. But I am indeed quite exasperated with your editing behaviour on the ABISY page and I am still considering filing an arbitration request. What I need you to do, to maintain cooperation, is to give up aggressive editing of other people's text, and state your concerns and objections to their text clearly on the talk page. Everybody is here to contribute. Please cooperate. Don't war! Uday Reddy (talk) 13:10, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments. I do take time to express my concerns clearly and ask specific questions in discussions nevertheless I will take extra care henceforth going by your advise. I have edited hundred other articles too but never faced this situation, is it that I am clapping with one hand? You can bet on cooperation -- I have no grudges! I sincerely do appreciate your contributions but keep my rights to disagree. Cheers! Aside: Absolutely no comments on "arbitration request", its your free choice. --AmritasyaPutra 14:06, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
No, I don't believe you express your concerns clearly. For example, you have removed quotation marks from my text and claimed that you were removing "emphasis." You never explained what you were doing. This was a simple issue. Your disputes with Vanamonde93 are deeper, but you never explain them. So, we are left guessing as to what you are objecting to. I said on the 28th August that the Vanamonde93 sentence that you complained about was a summary of one paragraph in the source. You never responded to that, and never said whether you agreed or disagreed. You just kept repeating what you said in the beginning. So, all those discussions on the talk page are deadlocked. The talk page often has 100 messages discussing one sentence in the article! This is not productive! Uday Reddy (talk) 17:26, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
1. You are talking about this section: read the wp guideline linked there and ask other editors if you disbelieve me. 2. I had asked a very specific question, and so had another editor -- they were never replied to but the content was re-inserted six times without responding on talk page, is that not warring? 3. Seriously, you mean to say I alone made those 100 messages? Suit yourself. Thanks. --AmritasyaPutra 17:41, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
@AmritasyaPutra: For 1, Don't worry about the guidelines. Please tell me what the issue is. For 2, what was your specific question? Did it have anything to do with Vanamonde93's sentence you were disputing? Uday Reddy (talk) 19:23, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
1. "Don't worry about guidelines?" Hmmm. Issue is explained there. 2. You couldn't find the question put in quotes twice? Your choice. section link. --AmritasyaPutra 00:51, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
Asking me to look in the guidelines or claiming that it has already been explained is contraray to what you said above, viz., "I do take time to express my concerns clearly". We ask you again and again only because it wasn't clear. But you make no effort to explain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reddyuday (talkcontribs) 08:52, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
