I appreciate your sense of humor[edit]

The story about the plungers on your front page was pretty funny and I wanted to tell you that I like how you just left it up there like that. (This is, in fact, my first edit of wikipedia. Random, I know.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.204.57.132 (talk) 15:53, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Judeo-Paganism[edit]

I'd like you to review my proposal on the article you wrote on Judeo-Paganism. I don't see any justification, or citation offered for that matter, for changing it to Jewitchery. The terms are hardly synonymous, and the editor's statement that Jewitchery is more common is both unsupported and irrelevant IMO; it's like saying an article on Judeo-Christianity should just be called Christianity, since Jews are the minority. I guess the same goes for the term African-American; just change it to American, since most Americans aren't of African descent. Rosencomet (talk) 18:51, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Abraham Lincoln 1861 presidential inauguration[edit]

Adding a db tag keeps the redirect from working. If any page move needs to be done, it will be done by an admin, and there is no need for deleting the page so that you can move it. Ok? 199.125.109.126 (talk) 19:07, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Jews and Judaism[edit]

I understand the value of your edit, but many would argue that Judaism is a culture or civilization and not a (or not just a) religion. Not just Reconstructionist Jews, but many historians. Can you think of a way to achieve the effect you sought while also complying with NPOV? Slrubenstein | Talk 20:35, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Your opinion?[edit]

Taoiseach[edit]

A reply to this. The "silly title" of Taoiseach is one of a number of everyday Irish language words used in the country even by the English language media, in general conversation, etc. Other examples might include Tánaiste (in effect a deputy Taoiseach), Garda Síochána (a term used to describe the country's police force) or Áras an Uachtaráin (the President's residence, which is exactly what it is). These terms do not necessarily have their own popular English language versions and so generally are translatable as practically the same. Taoiseach could roughly speaking be translated as "Chieftain" or "Leader" and is a term which was used in ancient Ireland to describe the ruler of an individual clan. It has survived to the present day to be made use of politically as it is now – to describe the leader of Ireland's head of government. Now I might just borrow that fancy media mention contraption of yours, having found some of my contributions being termed "fake" by Fox News yesterday... --candlewicke 20:48, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 40th century (Hebrew)[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on 40th century (Hebrew) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Jewish century articles[edit]

Hi, do you have any intention of adding content to the large number of articles you created at the beginning of August. The vast majority have remained devoid of content for a month. Is there any good reason why I should not nominate them for deletion? Jezhotwells (talk) 13:11, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

I scrambled to add content to several of those articles after the deletion notices went up, but I have other work to do; nonetheless, I do intend to add content to the articles. Nonetheless, I think some articles deserve to be merged. — Rickyrab | Talk 22:34, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 44th century (Hebrew)[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on 44th century (Hebrew), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. This image is going to need updating.

The MTA is merging the M and V lines, among other things.Rickyrab | Talk 15:48, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

The idea is for the new line to run from far northern Brooklyn (and perhaps a small chunk of Queens) down the current "brown" tracks and use the Chrystie St. cut to switch over to the "orange" lines uptown, where it takes over the route of the V. This eliminates a link between Manhattan and Brooklyn (currently served by the M), but otherwise, all stations are still served by trains. The new line will have the color of the V and the letter of the M (yup, an orange M). — Rickyrab | Talk 16:01, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Castle[edit]

I am against including the likes of Disneyland's castle in the article as it's simply not relevant. If you read the article, it explains the definition and later on details mock castles, follys, and artificial ruins. That is the influence of castles. That a theme park or two decided to built its own imitation castle is not relevant, and certainly does not belong in the lead. Nev1 (talk) 17:02, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Let's reverse it: why include Sleeping Beauty Castle at all? It's an example of a mock castle, but there are already several examples in the article. We can't list every single one, it simply wouldn't be practical. The ones currently used are the best architectural examples. You will also notice that aside from the images, specific castles are not mentioned in the lead. This is because it should be a summary of the article and detail general trends in the development of castles. Disneyland may call its structure a castle, but how does it fit the definition laid out in Castle#Defining characteristics, as supported by academic sources. Simply because someone decided it should be called a castle does not mean it is one. Mock castles and the like are mentioned not because they are castles, but because they were influenced by castle architecture. Nev1 (talk) 17:14, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Autoblock[edit]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Autoblock #2091877 lifted or expired.

Request handled by: Mr.Z-man

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Rickyrab | Talk 19:32, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Looking at the list of autoblocks caused by the block of PM800, I would assume your university has multiple IP addresses which are dynamically assigned, thus whilst one autoblock is cleared you could find yourself under another when the IP changes. IP block exemption might be the thing to do here. ---Taelus (Talk) 19:36, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

IP block exempt[edit]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. PhilKnight (talk) 21:17, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Khmelnitsky Uprising[edit]

You should be careful to avoid a popular POV apropos the subject. There is extensive historiographic literature on the subject listed in the citations, and it is recommended that you read op on these sources before inserting claims of "genocide" and astronomic casualties.--Galassi (talk) 14:29, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

  • Also there are discussions thereof in the talk pages.--Galassi (talk) 14:31, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Rickyrab, you are graciously extended an invitation to join the International Highways WikiProject and its new regional taskforces! The Highways WikiProject is an evolving and expanding WikiProject. We are a group of editors who are dedicated to creating, revising, and expanding articles, lists, categories, and Wikiprojects, or anything related to International Roads. This includes supporting existing regional road WikiProjects and fostering the development of new international highway WikiProjects. We have recently created five regional task forces focused on Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and Latin America.

To improve road and highway articles, here are guidelines for B class criteria. Please add any higher GA, FA quality articles to the international roads portal. Also, please help out by inviting new or unfamiliar editors with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Highways/New articles/Invite template.

We look forward to welcoming you to the project!

Rutgers and BAKA[edit]

Hey I saw your post on nj.com. The event was a farce, they actually invited us on Thursday. All events required paid reservations. They planned barring us in advance. They instead held their event in a mostly empty hall and helped their cause. Saxophonemn (talk) 11:07, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Well, what happened was when they saw us all in line, they figured to charge us knowing that we wouldn't want to give them money. It's not like they brought anyone that has a substantial wiki page that would be even worth a penny. Then they made remarks, like don't let in anyone with a kippah on. Fortunately for some of my buddies got in. What made this disturbing was the how this was sort of orchestrated and denied us our rights to even do a walk out. Though I planned to stay and ask questions, if they would have called on me. Saxophonemn (talk) 23:30, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Talk:World Trade Center[edit]

'Shouldn't the second complex on the site to bear the name get more attention than it has? '

I noticed the article is primarily about the old WTC rather than the one currently being built. Shouldn't we give some more weight to the new? While the old was likely more (in)famous, the new is also of interest. — Rickyrab | Talk 03:41, 16 June 2011 (UTC)"

Please see the current discussion at Talk:World Trade Center, would be good to get more input. Zarcadia (talk) 08:50, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

Flood myth[edit]

Thanks for your hard work there but I've reverted it as it appears to be original research (see WP:OR in that the sources don't seem to be discussing flood myths. Another minor point, see Before Present - you can't simply converted BP to CE or BCE dates. If you want to discuss this a bit more, would you please use the talk page of the article so that others can see the discussion? And I made the same sort of edits until someone kindly explained to me our policies. Dougweller (talk) 07:58, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your contribution to Star Wars sequel trilogy, but we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, so please keep your edits factual and neutral. Our readers are looking for serious articles and will not find joke edits amusing. Remember that Wikipedia is a widely used reference tool, so we have to take what we do here seriously. Proposed deletion of North American blizzards of 2010[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article North American blizzards of 2010 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disambiguation page is just a rehash of the listed United States Blizzards template.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Disambiguation link notification for November 8[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Matchmaker (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
