Muzharul Islam[edit]

Hi. I see you have been moving and changing Muzharul Islam and various alternative spellings. Unfortunately, your method of moving is incorrect - we must not do copy/paste moves, as that loses the article history which Wikipedia's copyright requires us to keep. Also, you seem to be making circular redirects that direct back to themselves. Would you please stop what you're doing and explain here what you are trying to achieve - I'll be happy to help you with whatever it is. Best regards -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:18, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

I've commented further here -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:25, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

As far I know, the correct spelling should be Muzharul Islam. --Rossi101

I've done some comparative Google searches. "Mazharul Islam" finds 26,000 hits, but "Muzharul Islam" only finds 7,160. As there is no formally correct way to transliterate names from Bengali, I think we are probably better sticking with the one most commonly used - it generally seems to be what people do around here. However, let me know if you disagree, and I can start a "Request move" discussion on the article's Talk page to see what the consensus says. Best regards -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:31, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
I have opened a discussion at Talk:Mazharul Islam, which is the correct place for an article content discussion - can we please continue there. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:50, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Muzharul Islam move[edit]

Hi again. Just to let you know that after a bit more searching, I think it's clear that "Muzharul Islam" is the correct name, so I've requested a move at Talk:Mazharul Islam. (As there is a redirect in the way, it will need an admin to do it.) If you agree or disagree with the request, please add a comment there to "Support" or "Oppose" the move -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 18:27, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for moving the page to Muzharul Islam, I was trying to move it. --Rossi101

Speedy deletion of "Rais Bhuiyan"[edit]

A page you created, Rais Bhuiyan, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for biographies in particular.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Nader Tehrani[edit]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Nader Tehrani, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.officeda.com.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:44, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

I checked the sources. Several sentences were copied verbatim with minor modifications. That's not enough to avoid copyright disputes. Please read about forms of plagiarism. We expect the sources to be read, digested, and the information to be written completely in your own words. Lifting phrases and sentences from other sources with no or only minor modification is not acceptable. Yworo (talk) 21:06, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
MIT sources are not in the public domain, they are copyrighted like nearly everything else on the web. Do not copy sentences from anywhere. Also, do not remove maintenance tags. Primary sources are sources affiliated with the subject. A profile page at MIT is most likely written by the subject himself. We need third-party sources which are in no way affiliated with the subject. I've appended the "official" warning about removing maintenance tag w/o resolving the problem below. Yworo (talk) 16:45, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

July 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Nader Tehrani. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Yworo (talk) 16:45, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Harvard GA[edit]

It's generally considered poor form to nominate an article for GA review without prior discussion as it is a waste of the reviewer's time if the article is clearly not ready and of other editors' time trying to quickly address concerns raised by the reviewer. In the future, please notify other editors on talk if you want to make a push for GA and review the GA criteria and similar GA articles before nominating. Proposed deletion of Mustafa Manwar[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Mustafa Manwar has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

All biographies of living people created after March 18, 2010, must have references.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Featured article candidacies[edit]

I've removed the two featured article nominations that you put up. Please understand that featured article status is based on the quality of the article, not the importance of the subject; both articles you nominated were in multiple cleanup categories and quite possibly have other problems that prevent them from meeting the featured article criteria. In addition, it is expected that featured article candidates are nominated by major contributors to the articles. Ucucha (talk) 20:48, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Gohine Shobdo.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Gohine Shobdo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 03:11, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Some tips to help you out![edit]

Hi Rossi101, I thought I'd drop a few notes on your talk page with some help on writing articles :o)

First of all, it may be best for you to do a bit of reading, starting with the Wikipedia manual of style, which will give you a lot of information about how Wikipedia prefers its articles to be written. It's not as hard to follow as it might look; quite a bit of the information there probably won't be vital for you at first.

Second, I recommend you make a user sandbox - which is just an area you can use to practise in, and to make notes in, and to get things ready in. If you click this red link: user:Rossi101/Sandbox, that will let you create that page (it gives you an edit window to start work in). Anything, anywhere, on the help and information pages which gives you an example, try it out in your sandbox until you're familiar with it.

For your article, the next thing you want to do is start collecting as much information as you can about it. Google searches (particularly in Books and Scholar) will be your best friend for this! Once you've found the information, the next most important thing is to start writing up each fact in your own words (very important, this), and make a note at the same time of exactly where that information came from. Build in the references as you go along; I'm going to copy in, down below this, a whole heap of help on doing references, which was produced by one of our best teachers (Chzz).

Here's another place that you'll find incredibly useful - citation templates which you can copy and paste into your sandbox, between <ref></ref> tags; you just fill in the blanks from your sources into the template, and you'll end up with nicely formatted inline citations :o) It all helps. Remember to add a references section to your sandbox (make a new line, and put ==References== on it, and type {{reflist}} on the next line, so that you can see how your citations look as you do them. Remember to save your page often! You don't want to lose your work.

Hopefully this will give you a good start and make life easier for you.

One last thing to keep as a motto: "It's better to write one good, well-referenced, nicely-presented article than it is to create fifty unreferenced one-line stubs!" Pesky (talkstalk!) 08:02, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

How references work[edit]

Simple references[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References ==
{{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Rossi101/reftest and try it out.

Named references[edit]

Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook>
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref>

Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.

Something to make your life easier![edit]

Hi there Rossi101! I've just come across one of your articles, and noticed that you had to create titles for your url links manually, or were using bare urls as references.

You might want to consider using this tool - it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script on Special:MyPage/common.js, or or Special:MyPage/vector.js, then paste the bare url (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for pdf documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. Happy editing! List of Bangladeshi architects[edit]

List articles are ordered by last name (surname). Do not reorder by first name (given name). Also, if you add any entires without articles (black text), they must have citations which show that the subject is a notable Bangladeshi architect. You cannot simply put a name in the list without sources or an existing Wikipedia article. Yworo (talk) 23:59, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Please upload your free media to commons![edit]

To Commons.svg

Thank you for uploading free images/media such as File:Adnan Morshed.jpg to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view previous uploads by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'file' namespace from the drop down box (or see [1]). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!

Deletion discussion about Adnan Morshed[edit]

Hello, Rossi101, and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that some editors are discussing at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adnan Morshed whether the article Adnan Morshed should be in Wikipedia. I encourage you to comment there if you think the article should be kept in the encyclopedia.

The deletion discussion doesn't mean you did something wrong. In fact, other editors may have useful suggestions on how you can continue editing and improving Adnan Morshed, which I encourage you to do. If you have any questions, feel free to ask at the Help Desk.

Thanks again for your contributions! Student7 (talk) 14:24, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Meherjaan poster.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Meherjaan poster.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Speedy deletion nomination of Nancy (musician)[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nancy (musician) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. What did you think about the deletion notice you received?[edit]

Hi Rossi101,

In December you received a message about either "Nomination for deletion" or "Proposed deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions:

  1. Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
  2. If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
  3. What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?

You can feel free to answer on my talk page or send me your response by email (mpinchuk@wikimedia.org). (I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that.) Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions. Thank you! File permission problem with File:SUST Cartoon Factory.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SUST Cartoon Factory.jpg, which you've sourced to (poster). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:39, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Robert Boughey[edit]

The article Robert Boughey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no notability shown

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If you created the article, please don't be offended. Bgwhite (talk) 20:22, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Unexplained reversion[edit]

Please do not revert edits without giving an explanation or edit summary. This edit was given a clear rationale. Many of the photos count as spam as they feature particular restaurants and hotels in the town. Many shots do not help to illustrate the article and do not meet the guidelines on pertinent images. Images should be right aligned by default. The sister cities list is unsourced. If you take issue with a set of edits, you should discuss these on the article talk page, not make a wholesale reversion without explanation. I have copied these comments to the talk page. Speedy deletion nomination of Saif Ul Haque[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Saif Ul Haque requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Eyesnore (talk) 19:14, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of The Aided High School[edit]

Hello, Rossi101. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, The Aided High School, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page

  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Andrew327 17:14, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Rossi101,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Rajon Das should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rajon Das .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Logo sust new.png)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Logo sust new.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 19:15, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:SUST campus green hills.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SUST campus green hills.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.

Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:42, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
