Sorry for my bad edit, I did not notice the text after link.. --BiH (talk) 15:56, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! Happens to us all sometimes. Ruigeroeland (talk) 07:14, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves[edit]

Perhaps you could assist. I think Poecilmitis wykehami should be moved over the redirect Chrysoritis wykehami, and Drakensburg Copper could be moved over the redirect Chrysoritis oreas to conform with similar names (otherwise it should be Drakensberg Copper). Any help appreciated. JMK (talk) 22:56, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Done. And thanks for adding the great pics! Ruigeroeland (talk) 06:26, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Really? That's essentially "The Lepidoptera of Hawaii are the Lepidoptera of Hawaii". And that's, well, silly. It's also contrary to the relevant manual of style sections. From WP:BEGIN: "if the article title is merely descriptive...the title does not need to appear verbatim in the main text"; "if the page is a list, do not introduce the list as 'This is a list of X' or 'This list of Xs...'. A clearer and more informative introduction to the list is better than verbatim repetition of the title" (emphasis in original). And from WP:BEGIN: "If the article's title does not lend itself to being used easily and naturally in the opening sentence, the wording should not be distorted in an effort to include it...Instead, simply describe the subject in normal English, avoiding unnecessary redundancy." postdlf (talk) 18:54, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

...and I'm only finding one other list with the same redundant intro in Category:Lists of butterflies and moths of the United States (which doesn't have a lot of lists to start with), so I see no basis for claiming a consensus-supported standard, contrary to the MOS in this instance. postdlf (talk) 19:14, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
See for instance List of Lepidoptera of Austria, List of Lepidoptera of Belgium, etc. I made all of them and used the same lead (there are quite a lot, since I am trying to cover the world someday). You are free to change it, but please do it for all of them if you do. Furthermore, you and I know Lepidoptera are butterflies and moths, but not everyone will. Anyway, I'm not making a big deal out of it, but I like to keep things consistent. Ruigeroeland (talk) 19:21, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
One step at a time... I don't think we need to change all of them at one time just to improve one and get it in conformity with the MOS. Particularly since there are already plenty in Category:Lists of butterflies by location that don't have the same lede, nor that even have the same title. Here's my suggestion:

An estimated 1,150 species of Lepidoptera, the order comprising butterflies and moths, have been recorded in the U.S. state of Hawaii. Of these, 948 are endemic and 199 are nonindigenous species.

We could also rename it to List of butterflies and moths of Hawaii, as many other lists follow. postdlf (talk) 19:29, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I would prefer your first suggestion. Sounds great so please go ahead and I wont revert you again. :) Ruigeroeland (talk) 19:50, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! postdlf (talk) 19:51, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oups, where (which source) did you find the wingspan of Eublemma anachoresis with 35mm, as stated in the article?

Those that I know from my place have not more than 10-11 mm winglength, so max. wingspan 23-24 mm. rgds from Tonton user:Tonton Bernardo

LepIndex[edit]

I say, Ruigeroeland, have you still been unable to access LepIndex? I'm just checking because it's been on a couple of times since your message; I've been using it to clean up the "C" section of the List of arctiid genera. Editing with a pen leads to a lot of things unsaid. (talk) 16:38, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Review[edit]

Hi. I got a notice that you reviewed Cucurbita lundelliana. What exactly does that mean and how do you notify someone that you did so? HalfGig (talk) 21:30, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, You'll certainly notice that I moved (back) the page Hypena obliquarlis to Hypena obacerralis and made a new page: Rhynchina obliquarlis. Quite complicated matter.... as reference just see:

(KOLLAR, 1844) [Hypena] comb.n. im Naturhistorischen Museum in Wien, nebst Bemerkungen zur Synonymie (Inserta: Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Ann. Naturhist. Mus. Wien 96 B 369-372.]

Actually also the page Hypena masurialis should be moved to Rhynchina obliquarlis but the pictures and distribution info should then be moved also to : Hypena obacerralis. Lödl stated H.masurialis as an unnecessary replacement name for R. obliquarlis (Kollar)- but as R. obliquarlis & H. obacerralis where confused in the past, probably the sights, images & hostplant date refer to H.obacerralis.

regards Tonton user:Tonton Bernardo

Great, thanks for looking into it! Since you have investigated the matter, would you mind making the necessary changes to the other page as well? Would be awesome..! Ruigeroeland (talk) 06:37, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I can do this but needs more time. Will have to check also, where the pics at wikimedia had been shot, from where the foodplant infos came from (what place), etc. so I prefered "not to touch" it, as this will certainly take hours.... and needs a calm moment to trigger this out. user:Tonton Bernardo

Yeah, I am currently facing a similar challange. I am working on moths in or related to the Eilema genus. It took me quite some time to figure out. Thanks again for looking into it! Ruigeroeland (talk) 12:32, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

new pages patrol[edit]

Hi Ruigeroeland, if you get a chance I have a few pages created several days ago that still haven't been reviewed. If you get a chance could you review any of the following: In ovo, Live virus reference strain, Cell-based vaccine, and Duck embryo vaccine. The newest ones from last night are Hantaan River virus, Tanganya virus, Thottapalayam virus, Topografov virus, Isla Vista virus, and Imjin virus. If you could review any of them, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Malke 2010 (talk) 14:52, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! Malke 2010 (talk) 21:22, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! Keep up the good work.. One thing: I dont know anything about virusses, but does a virus have an authority? (i.e. the scientist who described the species). If so: shouldn't that authority be added to the taxobox just as we do for animals and plants? Cheers! Ruigeroeland (talk) 08:50, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw the notifications that you reviewed all the rest. Thanks, I really appreciate that. On the taxobox, that's an interesting question. With viruses, the researcher who isolates a novel virus publishes his findings and has a better chance of getting more funding. But the viruses are named after the location where they are discovered. I'd say if there's an authority, it's really the geography, which is very important in the overall scheme of things. Where the critter who carries the virus lives really matters more than the guy who swabbed the critter and discovered the novel virus. Alas. Malke 2010 (talk) 16:46, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for looking into it! And no problem regarding the reviewing. I try to review all new species articles I come across. Keep up the good work! Ruigeroeland (talk) 08:15, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

all those "talk pages"[edit]

Hello Ruigoland, There is no real need to make all those talk pages. yes, I do not make them anymore => they are completely useless (burocratic wikipedia stuff), but after half a year or so, if none of those "robotlike-wikipedians" will make them, I'll just click: [Articles created by "Tonton Bernardo" and I'll make them all in a few minutes. Just once "copy".... + many pastes. But will save a few hours of wikipedia "hazzle".

I was tired of opening each time another talk page, just to copy the code,.... going back, etc. etc...... you know that hazzle yourself. Just to satisfy some of those guys who love to hazzle up, and to complicate everything???

Ever noticed, that never, and no-one ever changes the position of a "stub" classed talk page? There are millions ! All remain the same. Even for great, complete articles: all are marked "stub"-class".

you got better things to do - don't waste your time. You are great in taxonomy. Rgds user:Tonton Bernardo

Yeah, you are right. They are somewhat useful for statistics though, but I agree we can do without them. I will not add them to you articles anymore and concentrate on other stuff like you said.. Keep up the good work! Ruigeroeland (talk) 09:45, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Neptis agatha (Stoll, [1781])[edit]

Greetings Ruigeroeland Neptis agatha is included in Funet (and commons) not in list of African butterfly database or in Neptis list Wiki.It is also the nominal member of a species group.I'll write a page for it but thought I would check with you first. Any idea? Robert aka Notafly (talk) 20:57, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Strange indeed.. It was described as Papilio agatha and that name seems to be preoccupied by a species described by Cramer in 1777, so there might be a replacement name, but I'm not sure. It ssems a valid species, but strange it is not included in the African Butterfly database.. Might indeed be best to just make an article. Ruigeroeland (talk) 07:46, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Acraea manjaca Boisduval[edit]

Good morning Ruigeroeland Neptis- I will add agatha. Now another problem. Acraea manjaca Boisduval, 1833 from Madagascar is (wiki) given as a synonym of Acraea serena(Fabricius, 1775) also as Acraea eponina ssp. manjaca. I think the first is a misidentification and the second correct. Am I right? Best regards Robert aka Notafly (talk) 11:12, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure, but it seems you are right. It's a difficult genus. Thanks for looking into it..! Ruigeroeland (talk) 11:40, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My pleasure.Seems is the word - I was quite wrong (as many have been) and so I put an expanded explanation here -Acraea serena- and mentioned the interesting history of manjaca on the genus page.Notafly (talk) 20:51, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Jinkinson talk to me 00:19, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator seems to think it's a hoax. I tend to disagree, having come across more than a few documented insect species without any real web presence. Do you have access to the Fibiger document? If not, where are you getting your information? --Rhododendrites (talk) 01:49, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I had access to the document but don't at the moment. If you don't take my word it is not a hoax, you can request the article through [1]. I have made thousands of articles on moth species and I can assure you this is a real species. Ruigeroeland (talk) 01:54, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is excellent! Very informative and detailled. If you are interested in making more articles on moths, please go ahead. If I can help in any way, let me know. I have been making moth and butterfly articles for quite some time and can help you find resources if necessary (a lot of species have little to no info available online). Cheers and keep it up! Ruigeroeland (talk) 12:06, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I'm glad to hear so from someone who knows what a Lepidoptera article should be like. Thank you for your offer, although I gladly have access to a bunch of sources myself, courtesy of my father who is rather passionate about Lepidoptera. Most resources are Europe-based. If I end up not having resources I need, I will poke you for sure. As you probably gathered from that, I was indeed planning to create or improve a fair few articles. Beats checking about a 100 articles on the misspelling "Fischer von Roslerstamm" and finding about 55 articles with that misspelling and correcting that to "Fischer von Röslerstamm". :P AddWittyNameHere (talk) 12:27, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, that can happen to anyone.. :) Glad to hear you are planning to contribute more, all help is more than welcome..! If I can ask one favour: please try to add synonyms if you find them in the source. Since the taxonomy of insects is in a constant state of change, it is the only way to make sure we dont make multiple articles about the same species. Ruigeroeland (talk) 12:42, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, the misspellings were not mine. I just got annoyed out of my mind by the missing Umlaut, so I figured I'd just as well run through the thing and change it everywhere.
Ah, Penthina vitivorana, yes? I did not add it, because this one and this one state it as a synonym for the often-confused Lobesia botrana and I figured I was better off figuring out which of the two it's meant to be a synonym of before adding it. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 12:56, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I used [2] as a source for the synonym, but it might be wrong. Cheers! Ruigeroeland (talk) 13:31, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And I got a DYK through on the article. :) Pretty proud of that, I must admit. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 10:20, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You should be! Keep it up! Ruigeroeland (talk) 10:23, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Where should I go to have the article get a rating on the quality scale, by the way? I'm not looking for GA or FA yet, just wanted to know where it would stand as is. I think above stub, probably 'start' or possibly 'C', but it wouldn't exactly be neutral assessment to slap a score on it myself. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 10:50, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, dont know really, I add the template, but dont really rate the articles since I dont want to bother with the rules governing quality assesment. I would say it would at least be B or C quality. If you want, you could change it yourself. Ruigeroeland (talk) 10:54, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Grapholita delineana[edit]

Working on an article for G. delineana. Binomial authority is Walker, 1863. As there are multiple taxonomists by the name Walker, I wonder if you could confirm that it is this Walker? Seems the most likely to me going by dates, the other entomologist named Walker would have been twelve. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 19:04, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that seems right. Also because the other one seemed to be specialized in beetles. I only know of the older Walker anyway.. Cheers and happy editing! Ruigeroeland (talk) 13:21, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Grapholita/Endopisa/Endopiza/Paralobesia naming issues.[edit]

Endopiza currently redirects to Grapholita; probably by means of it having originated as lapsus of Endopisa, junior synonym of aforementioned Grapholita. However, I believe it should point at Paralobesia, both per Obraztsov (1953) and per Brown (2006). However, I would like your opinion first, because naming issues can be particularly sensitive in the world of Lepidoptera, especially when dealing with a genus which includes species of agricultural significance. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 02:50, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you follow this source [4]. It seems indeed better to redirect it too Paralobesia, see [5]. Cheers! Ruigeroeland (talk) 15:15, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That, plus Brown's Scientific Names of Pest Species in Tortricidae (Lepidoptera) Frequently Cited Erroneously in the Entomological Literature (2006) in American Entomologist, Volume 52, Number 3, was indeed what I was basing myself on. Unfortunately do not have the time to make the change right now, but will do so today. Cheers to you as well!AddWittyNameHere (talk) 15:23, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Aporia oberthuri or Aporia oberthueri?[edit]

My feeling says that it should be A. oberthueri, as ü=ue and it seems most likely the species was named in honour of Oberthür. Unfortunately, various different sources say something different. lepidoptera.pro gives A. oberthuri and A. oberthueri as synonyms without making clear which is the correct name; however, the index list clearly lists A. oberthuri. Pieridae - C. Della Bruna, E. Gallo, Valerio Sbordoni gives A. oberthueri with [sic] after it, showing they consider it an aberration; citation comes from (PDF), also by C. Della Bruna. The China species red list seems to give A. oberthueri, going by the small snippet available through Google Books. Any clue? AddWittyNameHere (talk) 18:29, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

When in doubt, I follow LepIndex. They use oberthuri, see: [6]. No big problem if you make a redirect for the other though.. We will always be able to find it that way.. Ruigeroeland (talk) 07:39, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Mainly wanted to make sure because no article for that species exists yet and there is one (however meagre a stub) on the Dutch 'pedia, so its on my list of pages I intend to create soonish. I'd rather make sure I create it under the correct name, though, hence the question. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 08:31, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, I think all Lep articles on Dutch wikipedia where created using LepIndex as a source. For butterflies, I would suggest you use funet as a source for synonyms. It is pretty good for butterflies (less so for moths though). See: [7]. I normally use funet as primary source and use wikispecies (if it has a page on the species you are going to create) as a secondary source when I am making a butterfly article. Ruigeroeland (talk) 08:38, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I ought to look through my father's none-too-small collection of books on Lepidoptera (I think he has somewhere around 200 or so). Not much information online, except for a link at funet that has at least -some- information. Perhaps there is some more useful stuff in print, though. eol.org occasionally can be useful as well, but not in this case. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 08:54, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it is hard to find information on some of the Oriental species online. In some cases only synonyms and distribution are available. It would be awesome if you can find more info in print sources. Ruigeroeland (talk) 08:59, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If I do, I'll let you know. Most of the books my father has are focused on Europe, but I believe at least some books also describe butterflies from areas outside Europe. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 09:18, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Great, nice to see someone else getting involved in Lep articles on wikipedia! Ruigeroeland (talk) 09:20, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite enough of us, eh? Just the sheer number of redlinks is quite telling, and a rather large amount of non-redlinks are on the small side for a stub. Of course, the fact that a link on the Lepidoptera project-page under the heading Important lists went un-updated for over two years until I noticed it past November already said enough. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 09:26, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good progress[edit]

I'm making good progress in correcting the names of entomologists. The List of ... bunch of articles should soon be free of the misspellings Hubner, Denis & Schiffermuller, Oberthur and Alpheraky, and are to the best of my knowledge already free of the misspellings Herrich-Schaffer and Fischer von Roslerstamm. The individual articles on species and such are going to take a bit more work what with having to find them, but not that much. I'm glad I have AWB now, though. No more crashing browsers trying to replace the bunch. (Though on some pages, even AWB keeps hanging for a bit). AddWittyNameHere (talk) 17:36, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome work, I noticed your work on my watchlist! Ruigeroeland (talk) 07:34, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It was really, really, really badly needed, too. I have corrected Hubner -> Hübner well over 7300 times in the past few days alone, and another several hundred previous to that. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 11:53, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I know, some of the sources totally ignore ü's and such. Thanks for picking this up! Ruigeroeland (talk) 12:07, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. The butterflies/moths named after Hubner in their English name I leave mostly alone until I can determine whether the actual name used is Hubner or Hübner. There are also some other points I intend to clean up soon.
  • Most lists of butterflies/Lepidoptera/moths of region have some serious over-linking of the region's name and often of the words Lepidoptera, moth, etc. within the lead. Is there something I'm overlooking, or can I go and de-link the duplicates?
You can indeed unlink duplicates if you want..! Ruigeroeland (talk) 12:30, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • The formatting of the binomial authority's name in those lists is very inconsistent. Is there any actual difference in meaning in Lepidopterist-land between Name, year; (Name, year), (Name, year) and (Name, [year])? If not, what is the preferred way of doing it? (Name, year), I think? AddWittyNameHere (talk) 12:23, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes there is a difference: without brackers = original combination; with brackets = species has been moved to another genus since its description; square brackets = year is uncertain, but year within brackets should be used. Ruigeroeland (talk) 12:30, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. Means a fair few of them probably should be checked to see if the formatting is consistent with the given information. For example, in the List of Lepidoptera of Switzerland, Polyommatus dorylas has (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) behind it, while I see no evidence that P. dorylas was originally described under a different genus. (If so, the species' article needs to be updated, it lists zero synonyms). AddWittyNameHere (talk) 12:37, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The European lists should be okay, since they are all derived from Fauna Europaea. A lot of species articles are indeed lacking synonyms, I am working at adding them, but please feel free to do so too. For butterflies, most synonyms should be listed at funet. For moths, finding syns is often harder. Ruigeroeland (talk) 12:49, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. Also noticed that the category-structures of subcats in Lepidoptera are in some places a tad off, but I'll figure that out later. Pity there are so few of us active on the Wikiproject. As it stands, you're basically running everything Lepidoptera-related, (with Wilhelmina Will creating a lot of the missing species articles) and me doing some clean-up here and there when I'm not too busy with vandal-fighting. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 13:04, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's the three of us at the moment. But dont despair: we had more contributors in the past and new ones will come in future..! Ruigeroeland (talk) 13:25, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I know, it's just that it means that I have to keep in mind that not everything can be done at the same time with so few people, and that I'm better off prioritizing even if it means it takes a bit longer in total. The more things I try to do simultaneously, the more things that will end up half-done or half-forgotten for a while. Some multitasking is fine, trying to overhaul, re-do or clean-up thousands of articles on multiple issues at the same time is not. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 13:49, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That seems to be the best way to approach things at the moment. I am currently working on adding all species of the Tortricidae family. All new artciles have all synonyms listed, and I am adding them to all existing articles on species of this family. I also add synonyms to all articles that Wilhelmina Will makes and try to update all existing articles of the Arctidae family (the family she is working on). I started working on updating all European species by systematically going through all families, and will continue with that later on. By the way: some families are complete (including all synonyms). This is also the case for all Afrotropical butterflies. Cheers and happy editing! Ruigeroeland (talk) 15:01, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it would be useful to make a list somewhere (probably your or my userspace) with a list of complete families and other things that have been finished, as well as a section of issues either of us comes across that will need to be looked at, whether minor (Such as whether Papias phaeomelas' English name is "Hubner's Skipper" or "Hübner's skipper") and moderate-to-major (inconsistencies in the cat-structure, articles contradicting each other, the same species being listed under different families in different articles or duplicated and listed under two families in one article)? That way, we can just do what we are doing, note down issues as we come across them and whoever has the time to fix a few can do so without risking we forget about problems we came across a few weeks earlier or attempting to hunt down something already fixed by someone else. Happy editing to you as well! AddWittyNameHere (talk) 15:36, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, feel free to make an issues list and I will add to it also. Regarding checklist, please see: Lists of Lepidoptera by region and Wikipedia:WikiProject_Lepidoptera/Checklist. Cheers! Ruigeroeland (talk) 16:48, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I looked into Graphium glycerion and some other species (see taxonomy note on that page). It seems to me that a good number of synonyms given in published and internet sources are neither based on revisions nor explained at all. This has always been a problem but the sheer number of (sometimes short-lived) synonyms now online is vexing. Funet seems the best source available so I am staying with it and adding a note under taxonomy on other references where I found confusions or noted contradictions to Funet. Epiplema albida could need your expertise. I did not find the description year, though Hampson mentions this in Hampson, 1895. The Fauna of British India. Moths - Vol.III. p.129 - so I think it should be 1895/1896. The host-plant originates in India and Sri Lanka, though in a.m. publication he only mebntions Sri Lanka. On an internet forum, I found an very old mention from Hong Kong -- but the image was deleted. No other sources were found.

Scientific classification of the following Lepidoptera[edit]

Yellow-Butterfly

I found this butterfly in my backyard in India. A friend suggested me to use wikiproject to be more descriptive in the description of image. So could you help me find its right scientific classification.

thanks -- User:Contact_'97

I guess this is a Pieridae species, but I wouldn't know which one. You could ask at: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Lepidoptera. Cheers! Ruigeroeland (talk) 07:40, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's possibly: Eurema sp.

see species from India here: List_of_butterflies_of_India_(Pieridae) (I am not sure if the list is complete, or not)

The underside of several species look the same - so, hope you'll find this specimen again, to take picture of its upper side :) rgds Tonton (=> not a specialist in butterflies)

Hi Roeland,

I noticed that you redirected Eilema lutea to Manulea lutarella last year. The article doesn't state that these two names are synonyms, and I have been attempting to find a source that states so, but I have been unsuccessful. Are you able to provide a source for the synonymy?

Thanks for your note re: my categories work[edit]

Thanks for your note about my work on cleaning up categories. That's the bulk of what I've done in Wikipedia--both as a registered Wikipedian, and before that as an IP user/editor. In this case, in the Arctiidae (and also among the Carabidae, which category is big, but nowhere near the 6000+ of the Arctiidae), I've been concentrating on those genera for which SOME species are listed in the category for Arctiidae, and OTHER species are listed in some subcategory for a subfamily. There are still several genera that I know about (and no doubt some I haven't found yet). Uporządnicki (talk) 15:20, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
