February 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Reign (2013 TV series) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Under the Dome revert[edit]

Yes, there's definitely a reason. Actually, there are two reasons (that you should already know) for why these should not be linked. No. 1: We generally don't link "everyday words understood by most readers" No. 2: "headings should not contain links" if not necessary. Also, what is bold should not be linked (and vice versa). So, I guess that's three reasons. I could also add from WP:ONLYREVERT, "Don't revert an edit because it is unnecessary — because it does not improve the article. For a reversion to be appropriate, the reverted edit must actually make the article worse." And, we should not revert an edit by a fellow experienced editor unless it's an absolute flagrant violation. Reverting an experienced editor can show a lack of good faith and can cause unnecessary hard feelings. Thanks. --Musdan77 (talk) 19:49, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Something new every day...[edit]

Hey, 08. When did we start separating "Story by" and "Teleplay by" in episode tables, as seen here??? — Wyliepedia 16:55, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Started with The Wire I guess. Just looks a little neater for shows that exclusively (or almost exclusively) use the story/teleplay format to arbitrate their writing credits. You can change it if it bothers you. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 20:58, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
No no. Actually, it looks better like that, rather than bunched up in one column, even if it scrunches up the other columns. Collateral damage, I guess. — Wyliepedia 02:45, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

The Mentalist[edit]

How do you provide a source? I don't know how to do it. It it simple? Please show me. Send me back a message as soon possible, thanks!

If you're referring to your revision of editing out spoilers, then I'll refer you to the Wikipedia policy WP:SPOILER, which explicitly indicates that content should not be left out of summaries simply because it might "spoil" the plot. Spoilers don't get censored on the site. I didn't invent the policy, I just follow the rules. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 04:05, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Zap2it/TVBTN[edit]

I'm sure you've noticed this, but Zap2it / TV by the Numbers has been redone by the Tribune Company. Navigating their beta TV schedule page is now akin to a root canal. — Wyliepedia 07:50, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

I noticed. It's crap, but usable in an emergency. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 01:09, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
But I've noticed they're a bit more reliable now than TFC. — Wyliepedia 11:52, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
Zap sure seems to be quicker at updating their schedule that TFC lately. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 12:03, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Believe (Series Overview)[edit]

You didn't need to remove the series overview on the Believe (T.V. Series) page. It didn't do anything to compromise the integrity of the article, if anything it added to the article. The DVD release dates for season 1 as well as the premiere and finale dates for the show appear in the series overview. In the future, please refrain from removing these items if they don't detract from the rest of the article. Rswallis10 (talk) 19:32, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Rswallis10

What exactly is the point of having a series overview for a show that only has one season? There are no DVD release dates as of yet, and when it is released it can simply be put in its own section in text form, and the series premiere and finale dates can be found in the episode table. The main function of a series overview is to provide a condensed version of information for multiple seasons of a TV series (like True Blood or Game of Thrones). Since there will be no future seasons of Believe, a series overview serves no purpose at all. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 22:32, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
Again for the second time, why don't you focus your time on issues with an immediate and IMPORTANT impact on an article. You keep changing this because you have nothing else to do with your time. The series overview gives the premiere date, finale date, and DVD release dates (which will be announced soon) in a nice organized box. There is NO reason for you to have to keep removing it, as it adds to the article. Other TV shows with only 1 season have a series overview, just because you don't feel like having it doesn't mean that it doesn't serve a purpose. I agree that it is more important for TV shows with more than one season, but it is useful in keeping with the themes of these other pages. There are other more pressing matters to take care of on these TV pages, you don't have to keep removing it. Thanks. Rswallis10 (talk) 18:33, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Rswallis10
Happened to see this here. For the record, I support the removal (and have done it myself with "one & dones" on those I come across). Anything contained in a one-season series can, and should, be found elsewhere in the article. The TOC will have a jump to any future home media news, making the SO pointless. As for suggesting an editor to find better things to do with their time, last I checked, Wikipedia had no such restrictions. — Wyliepedia 15:04, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
Agreed. An SO table's function is to condense information across a series of articles or tables, and neither Crisis or Believe have either of those. You need to stop edit warring, Rswallis10, as your edits have now been reverted multiple times by different editors. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 23:37, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
@Rswallis10: has reverted my edits, now. So instead of being a 3RR, I'll leave them for the next editor to remove it. Rs has caused other problems for certain issues, so I'm steering clear of anything he/she/it does. — Wyliepedia 23:57, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Resurrection (season 1)[edit]

Two questions: Do you think the season article is necessary, as discussed on its talk page? Is the Australian ratings table necessary? I say no to both. The season was only eight episodes, its page is a blend of the Main/Episode pages with nothing extra added (which I won't do); this is an American-based show, which hit it big in Aust. with its premiere, as stated in the main's broadcast section, but pointless to have the table. Just bouncing ideas off ya. — Wyliepedia 14:55, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Agree with both. Splitting to an LoE page is all right, considering the renewal, but there is practically no information on the season one article. I would re-direct it to the LoE page and I'll back you up if there's a problem. As for the AUS ratings, I think international ratings are only notable if they break records, which this didn't so they should go. US show, US ratings. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 23:35, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
Am going to send it back home. — Wyliepedia 17:15, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Ref names[edit]

What's your opinion of its usage? On Better Call Saul, I recently removed some that were for single refs. Another editor reverted all those, essentially saying "leave them in case someone wants to use more from source elsewhere". Couldn't that person add the ref name later? If you fill an edit window full of ref names, it's going to be difficult to decode, especially in multi-paragraph sections. Long story short, I called the editor "king of the page" and won't edit it again, no matter how it looks in future. — Wyliepedia 17:06, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Yeah I'm with you. Unless you're actually using multiple refs, there's no point in naming them. They're easy enough to add anyway. I can revert him again if you like, but it seems like the editor might be a difficult one. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 23:49, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Site italicization[edit]

I changed some of your edits in List of Under the Dome episodes. Using "work=" in a reference makes the site automatically italicized. Using "publisher=" does not. So far italicization is only for print media and their corresponding online sites. Since The Futon Critic is an internet-only site it should not be italicized. That rule may change but it hasn't yet. This box: view  talk  edit

Hi, in case you're not already aware of it, a group of Adelaide Wikipedians has been meeting on a monthly basis since April, with the aim of improving the scope and quality of articles on South Australian topics. We meet at UniSA's City West campus, and our 23 July meeting will have a guest speaker from the National Trust of SA.

This coming Sunday, 6 July, we will be holding our first Edit-a-thon. This will be an opportunity for new editors to come and learn either basic or more advanced editing from very experienced wikipedians, so if you know anyone who would like to get some practice, please let them know - and beginners will be very welcome. The Flash[edit]

Actually, my first edit to the Arrow page was on October 2 (just before the series started), and we knew almost 8 episodes by that point (see here). So, it isn't the same thing. I'm actually saying wait until we're closer and know more episodes, which is what I would have said if I was editing Arrow at this same point 2 years ago.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:01, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

I was referring to Arrow's third season. We know even less about that and it's technically even further away, but you don't seem to have a problem with creating an episode table. I just don't see the point in not including available information. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 02:29, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
I really don't think it should exist quite yet either, but Arrow is at least a more established show. The information can still be presented without having to create an entire table for it. It just seems odd (for both pages) to have a table that contains 1 or 2 episodes (or in the case of The Flash 2 episodes that are missing information in different sections because they haven't released it yet).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:35, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
It seems odd to you. I don't have a problem with it. I've never encountered another editor on other pages for new series who have had any qualms with it. I've certainly never seen any Wikipolicies or guidelines prohibiting or discouraging it. Your position just seems to be based on subjective opinion, which shouldn't dictate how a page is edited. Point me to a rule that says "Don't create an episode table until X number of episodes are available for addition" and I'll adhere to it. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 03:27, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Arrow assistance[edit]

Hello, sorry to bother you, but you seem to be very partial and knowledgeable about how things should be run on here, specifically TV articles. Over at List of Arrow episodes there is new info that has been placed at the top of season 3's episodic table, which I was under the assumption was meant to be placed in the series' article page. Also there is currently a citation in place for episode 303's title that leads to a fan-based website, which I thought were insufficient sources. I've tried to revert, but have met opposition. Sorry for my ignorance. Love for you to weigh in. Cheers, LLArrow (talk) 06:58, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

My advice is to let it go. There's a high level of control freakishness going on in that page. They'll argue every point forever until they get their way. I've learned to just not bother with it. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 01:44, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Pun adding[edit]

WHY did you undo my edits?!?! Restore them back! 202.160.16.154 (talk) 10:37, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Several reasons. One, they were improperly placed. Why did you think it was a good idea to hijack the ratings column for it? Even if they weren't completely trivial, that would not be the right place for them. Two, you have no evidence that the writers and producers of the show were deliberately referencing movies or TV shows with their titles, or that they were creating puns, which is original research. In order to include them you would have to provide a source where the producers explicitly state that those titles were referencing something else. Three, it's completely trivial. Whether or not the titles are movie references or puns is completely irrelevant and has nothing to do with either the content of the episode or its creation. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 10:50, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Then, if seasons 21 and 22 has the puns, why don't you remove it? 202.160.16.154 (talk) 11:06, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
I did. As far as I can tell, anyway. They're not there anymore. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 11:46, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Then, who added the season 21 and 22 puns? They are supposed to be in the episode articles themselves.

Why revert me?[edit]

Why are you fighting me with the series overview tables? The new guidelines state home releases be removed from the table. Also nowhere does it mention that each count section can't be listed as "No. of episodes" and there is also no rule state "Episodes" alone has to be used either. Grapesoda22 (talk) 01:58, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Two things: One, using "No. of episodes" instead of just "Episodes" is unnecessary, the title is clear enough for everyone and, even if it weren't, the content itself is self-explanatory. Either way it's not needed. Two, I haven't reverted any of your edits that removed the DVD/Blu-ray information. I don't know why you think I have, but check again because I haven't. I'm well aware of the new guidelines and, while I think they're stupid, I have no intention of fighting anyone on the issue. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 07:28, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of True Detective episodes, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Idol. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
