Welcome!

Hello, Sdornan, Welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope you like working here and want to continue. If you need help on how to name new articles, look at Naming Conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the Manual of Style. If you need general help, look at Help and the FAQ, and if you can't find your answer there, check the Village pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and the Policy Library. Also, don't forget to visit the Community Portal — and if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my New-Users' Talk Page.
Additional tips:
Here are some extra tips to help you get around Wikipedia:
  • If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username.
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills, try the Sandbox.
  • Click on the Edit button on a page, and look at how other editors did what they did.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Always sign comments on Talk pages, never sign Articles.
  • You might want to add yourself to the New User Log
  • If your first language isn't English, try Wikipedia:Contributing to articles outside your native language
Happy editing!

Abbey Road edits[edit]

I just reverted your edits to the Abbey Road (album) page, because you seemed to make a number of major changes without providing an explanation for them, except the word 'Infobox' in your edit summary. Can you provide any references for the changes? Flowerparty 21:02, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Looking more closely, it seems you've accidentally edited an out of date version of the page, so your changes were just undoing a load of other people's chabges. Sorry about that - I was worried you were up to some insidious new form of vandalism, I'm afraid. If you edit an old version of a page there should be a big pink warning bar at the top of the edit box, so you might want to look out for that in future. Ok then, keep up the good work. :) Flowerparty 02:00, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

History of video game consoles (seventh generation)‎[edit]

In regards to your recent edits to the artcle, please refer to Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria #8, which specifically states that fair-use images may not be used in lists or galleries. Just64helpin 17:08, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

NBA Street move[edit]

A tag has been placed on NBA Street, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Moved NBA Street to NBA Street (series), and so I am requesting to delete this page in order to move NBA Street (video game) here.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 18:48, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Your move of Command & Conquer (video game)[edit]

Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. However, articles should not be moved, as you did to Command & Conquer (video game), without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. We have some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. First, I want to point out that you moved the page back afterwards, so I guess you understand your mistake. Nevertheless, the move was wrong to make in the first place. If you had looked at the talk page you would have seen a discussion about this. If you feel that a previous move was wrong, especially if it already has a attached discussion, discuss it on the talk page bofore reverting the move. Thank you. --MrStalker talk 16:57, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Polo tecnologico[edit]

Just to give you a heads up, when there's an article that's written in another language, the tag to use is actually {{db-notenglish}}. Just so you know. :) -WarthogDemon 03:36, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

I was making a translation and by mistake I pasted the translated contents to English page. When I realized the mistake I tried taking the change back but you were quicker than me. Thanks BillyGee

Edit summaries[edit]

Hello, I have noticed that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! GA Review

Symbol support vote.svg

Dear Sdornan, I am delighted to inform you that I have seen fit to pass Gears of War for GA status, as I believe that it qualifies the criteria that is commonly accepted by the community. Further details of the articles passing, and possible further improvements to the article can be found on the articles talk page. If you have any questions about the review, please leave them on my talk page. Regards,-- Anonymous DissidentTalk 09:26, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Warcraft universe and more[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to say good work on revising the Warcraft universe page, it's looking a lot better now, and also good work on the other pages you've done. I think cleanup like that is the way to go, and if you'd like to discuss your plans and thoughts, I'd be glad to work with you. And hopefully we can get some people from the WP:Warcraft active again. It'll be a tough road to handle, since it has to walk the balance between so many standards. But hey, good job on starting the work off. FrozenPurpleCube 01:35, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Development of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion[edit]

Hey, Sdornan! I really appreciated your perceptive review of the last article I brought to VGPR, and I was wondering if you would care to provide some commentary or a good copy-edit of my current project, the Development of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion article. Any help you could provide would be great. Thanks again! Geuiwogbil 18:44, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Good job! Thank you so much for going through it; it must be quite a pain. Let me know if there is anything you're conflicted about, or if there's any wording too confused to work out. Shouldn't be too much of a problem, though, since the all the sources are web-sources. Thanks again. Geuiwogbil 15:38, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Madden 97 Cover.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Madden 97 Cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. CSD on Dick Lane[edit]

I do not believe that this article will ever meet WP:AFD let alone WP:CSD, so if you want to consider it for deletion, you might want to try the AFD process. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  20:48, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

I moved the Dick Lane page to Dick Lane (American football) for disambiguation, decided to keep articles title as they were, with the football player located at Dick Lane, and created Dick Lane (disambiguation) as the disambiguation page since the football player is the most notable of the people named Dick Lane. Please don't removed my CSD. Thanks. Sdornan 20:49, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

  • CSD will be removed. It sounds like this is not a deletion issue but a disambig issue, so we should focus on that aspect of the information. I do not think they were in the best interest and per my reading of WP:D, it looks like we should forward Dick Lane to Dick Lane (American football) and then deal with the disambig page there. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  20:52, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

What I am trying to do is simply revert the pages back to how they were. Dick Lane was the original title of the article, not Dick Lane (American football). I made the Dick Lane (American football) article myself to made Dick Lane a disambiguation page. Then I realized that Dick Lane should remain where he was, (without American football disambiguation), as it is the primary use of the word, per WP:D#Primary topic. As you can see here, Special:Whatlinkshere/Dick Lane (American football), many pages that link to Dick Lane are being redirected. All I am trying to do is reverse what I did, and put the page back like it was. As you can see at Special:Movepage/Dick Lane, I made the move myself and merely want to reverse this move. Sdornan 21:06, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Let's try and keep this at one place. We need to discuss this on the article talk page. Not here and not on my talk page. I have posted there the "issue" as i see it. No CSD for now. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  21:09, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Dick Lane (American football)[edit]

Hey. I'm coming here to you because I see you have made a lot of edits to this page. I made an edit to the page which Jmfangio mostly reverted because we've had some recent history. He reverted my changes because I didn't discuss them and because of the recent history between us. I made the change again, and I ask you: do you think there's anything wrong with this edit ([1])? Jan Stenerud[edit]

The links to the data are there. Are you saying that the simple act of adding and dividing the numbers makes it unreferenced? I can post the whole damn spreadsheet if you want. My point is that, compared with modern-day kickers, Stenerud's stats look below average, and that's all a lot of younger fans know.

New Wave (music)[edit]

I've proposed moving New Wave (music) back to New Wave music. Since you originally moved it, I thought you might want to comment at the discussion. 17Drew 00:35, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Redirect of A place to bury strangers[edit]

Information icon.svg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on A place to bury strangers, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because A place to bury strangers is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting A place to bury strangers, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Fair use rationale for Image:NFL_Quarterback_Club_98.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:NFL_Quarterback_Club_98.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you. ~ Wikihermit 02:13, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Billion dollar babies cover.jpg)[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:Billion dollar babies cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Unspecified source for Image:Two_Worlds.jpg[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg

Thanks for uploading Image:Two_Worlds.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:08, 24 May 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rockfang (talk) 21:08, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Richard Nixon GAN?[edit]

Hi Sdornan, I see that you have nominated Richard Nixon for GA status. It troubles me that I, someone who keeps this article on his watchlist, do not think that the article is GA-worthy and that you have not edited the article heavily in the past to ensure its passing. The bottom line: it needs more work and I suggest withdrawl of the GAN until the article is brought up to par. Kindly, Happyme22 (talk) 05:19, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Are you trying to improve it or make it worse???[edit]

Why do you challenge NPOV? Yyou must ask yourself, are you really trying to improve this article, or do you see it as your duty to make Nixon look bad. It seems to me that we have a dispute, and per policy I wish to have a third party administrator come in and settle the problem. I don't see why you two must use your own bias to make Nixon look worse. It may have been controversial to you, but not to everyone, and certainly not to me. The best way to present that information is to only present the basic facts. It being controversial is not a fact, it is a bias. Another aside, Nixon was not tried and convicted, but you present the facts like it was ineveitable. Please be more careful and lets not have an edit war since I am hoping that your intention is to improve the article and not to disrupt it.--Jojhutton (talk) 23:06, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

I also see that you have attempted to get this article to WP:GA. I also see that it failed. I am trying to do the same as well. Please, lets work together and understand that this article needs major NPOV work.--Jojhutton (talk) 23:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Would you like to join the Koei Warriors Games WikiProject? It is everything Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Warriors Orochi! To participate, add your name to the list of participants and apply {{User WPKoeiWarriors}} to your user page.

If you are not sure what a WikiProject is, it is a club of Wikipedians interested in the WikiProject's subject and helping to improve articles of or related to that subject. I saw you greatly contributed to the Samurai Warriors article, so I figured I'd ask if you wanted to participate in Wikipedia:Wikiproject/Koei Warriors Games. You do not have to, and neither are you obliged; I am just asking. -BlueCaper (talk) 23:51, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Please update your status with WP:VG[edit]

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.

I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.

Thank you.

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Wikipedia Reviewer.svg

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:32, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Sumday.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

EALA[edit]

No problem, I was wondering about your edit because I have always heard of them being within EALA so I wouldn't expect the whole studio to be named that.--iGeMiNix/What's up?/My Stuff 14:18, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Sumday.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Sumday.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Article Feedback Tool update[edit]

Hey Sdornan. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:39, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Soliciting comment...[edit]

Hi! Would you care to review my FA nomination for the article Of Human Feelings? The article is about a jazz album by Ornette Coleman, and the criteria for FA articles is at WP:FACR. If not, feel free to ignore this message. Cheers! Dan56 (talk) 05:07, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
