Ancient Hebrew is a legitimate source for the etymology.[edit]

You blocked the etymology at Sun and Moon - why? You seem to be saying the source is not valid? http://www.edenics.net/english-word-origins.aspx?word=sun http://www.edenics.net/english-word-origins.aspx?word=moon What makes the source invalid? Please state your reasons.Copytopic1 (talk) 10:03, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot see that the site has been scholarly reviewed; it rather seems like a private homepage of an organization or club. In cases such as etymology, there are scholarly reviewed sources. I have no stance on the validity of the claim; I question this particular source (as have others). If you find a different source that comes from academia and/or journals for etymology, supporting the same claim, that would be fine. Bimal bosmia[edit]

Deletable (and deleted) per A7, but I didn't see that as an attack? Regards, JohnCD (talk) 14:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"shrewd" is not an attack? Anyways... it's gone. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 14:26, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You sent me back to the dictionary: "orig., cunning, artful, (chiefly derog.); later, characterized by or displaying astuteness or sagacity, sharply perceptive, clever and judicious." On the whole, I'd take it as a compliment; I'd be more worried if called "intellectual", which he also was. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 14:33, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Really? learned something new today... Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 14:35, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Articles for deletion/Hangry; is something missing?[edit]

From looking in the page history, I was able to find it just fine; however, it isn't showing up on the AfD page, and the link on the page itself is red. Is there something missing, or am I just being an idiot (not at all out of the question)? The Blade of the Northern Lights (話す下さい) 19:07, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that happens... for some reason, Twinkle sometimes produces a redlink even though the page clearly exists. Maybe it's got something to do with the JQ that needs to catch up. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 19:10, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was just going to say that the redlink is linking there after all. Still hasn't shown up on the AfD page, but I think it'll probably get zapped pretty quickly anyway. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話す下さい) 19:11, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I now see what you meant... added manually. Thanks! Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 19:12, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do not edit my talk page[edit]

If you have substantial question bring it forward but do not edit my talk page or delete my edits. Clearly lambasting another user is not acceptable under wikipedia standards and I will not allow comments like that. If you have an substantial criticism bring it forward but do not edit my talk page.

Tomgazer (talk) 19:38, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Accepted. I won't edit your talkpage anymore, I'll have you blocked straight away with the next stunt you pull.  :) Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 19:41, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Godel's incompleteness theorems[edit]

Thanks for accepting my edits, but are you actually reviewing them? The article is under flagged revision protection for a reason, namely to slow down the endless insertion of Hewitt spam (see long discussion on the talk page, most of which has been moved to the arguments sub-page). I just submitted an edit removing a Hewitt video and also mentioned it on the talk page. I think the removal should be approved, or the reasons for leaving in the video should at least be discussed. There's general consensus that the link to Hewitt's 2008 paper is sufficient mention of Hewitt in the article under Wikipedia's undue weight doctrine. Thanks. 75.62.4.94 (talk) 07:38, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing is for a quick check of vandalism, libel, or BLP-violations. You seem to know what you're doing; if there's any deeper conflict regarding content, this has to be discussed on the talkpage. I personally have no special interest in the subject. thanks. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 07:42, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, yes, there is extensive discussion on the talkpage of the Hewitt situation. I think nobody will mind (except Hewitt, who is banned) if you just process the link removal as a normal edit. The Hewitt link was certainly inserted by Hewitt or one of his meatpuppets. For more info see here. 75.62.4.94 (talk) 07:47, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unexplained Deletion: Technical Problem?[edit]

Seb az86556, I was wondering if you might explain your recent deletion of content that I added to the page entitled "Russell Pearce." I recently posted on the discussion page that everything I have ever posted to the Russell Pearce page has been deleted. An administrator (TeaDrinker) responded to my talk post and suggested that there might be a technical problem. No sooner than the admin made this suggestion to me, you deleted my post, without comment. As far as I can tell, the only commentary regarding the deletion was in the edit summary of the history tab, in which you stated "unreferenced," which clearly was not the case. My submission included over two links to other Wikipedia pages supporting my submission. I would be grateful if you might be able to explain to me whether your cause for deleting my post was the result of some technical problem I have made, or if it was because there was a problem with the content of my submission. Thank You. Monoxide 08:39, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

It's not a technical problem, your submissions work just fine. However, by "references" we mean outside references, e.g. other webpages (please read WP:RS), newspapers, books, and the like. Mere links to other pages in wikipedia are not references. This is especially important when you are attributing words and quotes to living people -- and Russell Pearce is in the spotlight right now, so stuff like that is even more important to verify. For example, you'd need a source for verifying that he says "my bill" when referring to SB1070. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 08:56, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Chiming in as a talk page stalker, he's specifically referring to WP:CIRCULAR. Wikipedia, in general, shouldn't be self-referential. elektrikSHOOS 19:23, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talkpage vandal[edit]

hello[edit]

My name is Lucas Luca, i am a diplomatic interpreter born and raised in the city, that you write as the capital of both Cyprus and northern Cyprus. My dear, Nicosia is officialy, the capital, of the Republic of Cyprus and not the capital of any northern Cyprus. By adding that, you inform everyone about wrong things.. EU, NATO, THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE, and every other diplomatic organisation around the globe, recognise Nicosia as the capital of one and only one state.. who are you to tell otherwise? who are you to inform wrongly everyone that this city belongs to 2 states? What will you earn? I dont think thats wise not even professional, from you, to edit an article for Nicosia, a page that a lot of people visit and read, and let everyone know that what????? Nicosia is the capital of 2 states! And yes i am in a war, coz i feel my country is been attacked by users wanting to promote an illegal unrecognised state! Only Turkey recognises that, and noone else!! So i would advise you to stop and apologise!! If this matter continues, i will immediately take all legal metres and send this shocking article to the parliament of the Republic of Cyprus! thank you and have a nice day!Lucaluca11 (talk) 05:30, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Im Seulong[edit]

Hello Seb az86556. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Im Seulong, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 17:00, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Visa policy of... discussions... (and I am going to sleep now...)[edit]

I noticed you were removing the AfD notices on several visa policy of pages. Although I sympasize a lot with not having these removed and think the notices were not entirely necessary, I am afraid this will lead to yet another day of "discussing the way to discuss". I have suggested a way forward here. L.tak (talk) 00:37, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

answered there. thanks for notifying me. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 01:20, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coanda 1910 edit war[edit]

I realize that we are supposed to discuss rather than editing back and forth, but it is now four days since you warned me about this and I am as of yet the only user to have ever used the Coanda 1910 talk page. I've started asking myself on the talk page if I agree with my own edits to to show you that I have achieved a consensus in my discussions. However, if I start disagreeing with myself I will certainly request arbitration.Romaniantruths (talk) 03:42, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I warned almost everyone involved. If indeed no-one responds after a reasonable time, then go ahead and make the changes you want. I don't think you'd have to wait for forever. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 04:10, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Regarding that issue about STEF1995S that you consider to be resolved: He has created constantly charts that don't exist or make up peak positions for songs - he has replaced DeepCentral's "In Love" with Shakira's "Gypsy" as a #1 song several times, also wrote that "Telephone" by Lady Gaga was #1 ... He has added unsourced or fake info several times on other articles also: [2], [3] - "Loba" was never #1 [4], [5] - "Alejandro", "Morena" and others didn't reak #1 [6]. I have repeatedly asked him not to update the Romanian Chart properly, but he used sources like charly1300 or a chart that was only shown on TV. I think we got beyond good faith edits when he continues to do things that he knows aren't OK. Alecsdaniel (talk) 14:43, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
