Menopause[edit]

Hello Selene. I see a few months ago you left a note on the talk page of the article on Menopause complaining about the article quality, specifically about the repeated duplication of information. Getting that article up even to the rather poor level at which it currently stands has been a challenging uphill struggle since 2007, when I started on Wikipedia. Some of the difficulties are: 1. there has not been enough medical research and therefore there are few really good sources; 2. this encyclopedia is staffed almost entirely by young males who mostly know nothing about, and are basically not interested in, woman's reproductive health issues, especially those of women in midlife; and 3. as a result very few people have worked on the article constructively. The article does sometimes get changed thoughtlessly on impulse by new editors who take a dislike to something in it, but these changes rarely improve the article. Myself (and sometimes Doc James) seem to be more or less the only people who have worked constructively on the whole article. I tried to trim out some of the duplication today. We could really use a lot more careful work on this very important and often-consulted topic.
