About Kongpulse[edit]

So yeah, I know I should whisper on Kongregate, but it doesn't really matter. On Kongpulse, when we do the Finals of the Head to Head battles 2010, we'll select ten players to go through to the first final stage, right? Well, what if we have seven players who are all seventh? Do they all go through? What should we do? Maybe we should let them, if someonething like this happened, go through, and in the first round of the Finals, just eliminate everyone who typed less than the eighth best. What do you think? JaumeBG 01:20, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Well, after eliminating any inactive people, if there's any draws, we'll check their H2H record. For instance, someone who's been in 13 H2H's and has 13 points will have priority over someone who's been in 30 and has 13 points. If that still leaves a draw, it will be decided by any previous battles between those contestants.
Okay, great! :D JaumeBG 06:39, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I guess the whole "Keep it a secret" thing is over now then? Sellyminime (talk) 06:40, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, I don't think they'll check your user talk page on Wikipedia. Do you? JaumeBG 09:11, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Except for this one thing: "Yeah, we should, and more users who're regulars in Kongregate too would also be nice. JaumeBG 3:34 pm, 24 October 2010, last Sunday (5 days ago) (UTC+10.5)" Sellyminime (talk) 10:09, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, hopefully they won't read it. And if they do... Oh well. JaumeBG 10:24, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Signature[edit]

Hey there, I realise you changed your signature rather recently. You didn't switch to red because I suggested it for WP:MSE did you? Haha. Anyway, I would advise you use a less glossy colour for your signature, since I do get distracted when reading your comments. And some editors might not like it. Regards, ANGCHENRUI WP:MSE 09:12, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Nah, I changed my signature to red 3 days ago or so. Might change it to a teal-ish colour. Not really sure though. SellyminimeTalk 09:22, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Quit message on mIRC[edit]

Hi selly, I was just wondering, on mIRC, when you leave, you always have the message of "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!", so I was wondering how I can change my default to that? Thanks! ) JaumeBG 11:09, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Re: Andres Molteni[edit]

Holy God... You should check before you write something stupid. Look, there are the rules of Wikipedia:Notability for tennis - And what did you see here? I can see this: "The player has won at least one title in any of the ATP Men's Challenger tournaments". 2011 Challenger Salinas Diario Expreso – Singles - WOW, what? Molteni PASSES WP:Notability now. Oh, that was unbelievable!

..... Au revoir :|. PL Alvarez Talk, 13:25, 6 March 2011 (UTC).

I'm fully aware of the rules for Notability in Tennis articles, but as it was something like 1am when I saw you created Andres Molteni, I did not notice that he had won a Challenger tournament. No need to freaking abuse me for it. SellymeTalk 22:35, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Just saw this. Unacceptable behaviour. You don't need to responed to that. I've warned the user. KnowIG (talk) 14:33, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Banana Republic[edit]

I once again state that the definition of Banana Republic is static, and according to it the USA now belongs to that category. I did not cause the political turmoil, or the corruption. Those are documented facts. Argue with them not me. My statements are neutral and I will continue to fight for them. Byron670 (talk) 01:14, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Your statements are not neutral. Regardless of the truth, you have to adhere by WP:NPOV and be completely neutral. I think America is a run-down shithole that no-one could possibly want to live in, but I don't edit pages with my feelings about it. SellymeTalk 01:16, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

You are just stating your opinion. I have adhered to the guidelinesByron670 (talk) 01:17, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Not according to any of the other users who also disagree with you. SellymeTalk 01:18, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Which is also their opinion and also biased. I removed the biased words. Now there are only facts.Byron670 (talk) 01:19, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

That's much better, but it still uses many weasel words and portrays negativity. I agree that the content could be there, but not in its current state. SellymeTalk 01:21, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. A Banana Republic is a negative statement however, as it says above, pejorative. It is corruption incarnate. I cannot make something fascist and authoritarian seem light and fluffy.Byron670 (talk) 01:34, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

It is possible, but only with a lot of editing. For example, look at Fascist. SellymeTalk 01:40, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Port Adelaide Football Club season article[edit]

Hi Sellyme, I might be an idea to defying who is home and away mainly by the AFL normally would have the home team's score first followed by the away's team. I suggested you keep this format and just have Port's score in bold.

Yours Thanksful,

--McAusten 11:22, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

2011 PAG[edit]

Thank you for registering (I know its a bad word to use here) for putting up the results. Any sports in particular you won't to do? Anyways most of the afternoon section of events should be before midnight local time in Australia so I think that should not be a problem. Intoronto1125 (talk) 03:28, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Even if it was after midnight it wouldn't be a problem, I stay up to about 4am. But I'm not sure as to specific sports, I generally try to update as much as I can as quickly as I can, so I tend to cover everything. I'd probably be more interested in Head-to-head sports (i.e., one team/person against another, unlike athletics/diving, etc), but as I said, I'll try to do as much as I can. SellymeTalk 04:44, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Judo, Taekwondo, Boxing etc.? Intoronto1125 (talk) 17:46, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
I was thinking more along the lines of Handball, Rugby Sevens, Football, Beach Vollyeball, Table Tennis, Tennis, etc. SellymeTalk 01:32, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
Ok, that would be great! I think the later three sports probably will need the most help if anything. Thanks. Intoronto1125 (talk) 03:47, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

AWB[edit]

Please slow down and review your edits more carefully. You are using AWB for mass edits and creating false positives. For example, you just tagged a soft-redirect as having "multiple issues" in part because it's an orphan. Redirects are supposed to be orphans. You also tagged it as a stub which redirects are not by definition. Rossami (talk) 03:30, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Whoops, I hit the wrong button. Thanks for notifying me of that. I don't know how I even ended up on a soft-redirect page, I have AWB set to skip them. Sorry! SellymeTalk 03:33, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Upskirt (game)[edit]

Hi Sellyme. Thank you for cleaning up articles. Using AWB for such clean ups is not recommended - Upskirt (game), a two-line stub, is hardly likely to have any content that can be Wikified. Please read Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify and bear in mind that the use of AWB is a right that can be revoked. Rather than tagging, consider doing any necessary short improvements yourself. If you need any help understanding our instructions for page patrolling, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Happy editing! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:59, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

The reason I generally use AWB for trying to improve poorly written new articles is because on AWB my average page load time is 3-4 seconds, whereas it is around 3 minutes on Firefox and Chrome, and well over 5 minutes for IE/Camino/Safari/Opera/XBrowser/Paint. I understand that this occasionally creates issues with regards to my human error, but you've got to make mistakes to learn what not to do, and I believe that thanks to a bit of trial and error I'm now fairly proficient with AWB. In regards to Wikifying myself, I generally do attempt to make any grammatical/structural improvements as I can (As evident with my recent contributions to the influx of Iranian articles on Friday), but in this case I wasn't exactly sure what I could do with regards to Upskirt (game). I'm generally of the opinion that a good-faith article - even if it is almost certain to be deleted - is in the need of improvement until the moment it is actually deleted. Thanks for linking me to WikiProject Wikify though, I did learn a few new things! SellymeTalk 10:49, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Score of tie-breaks (reply)[edit]

I want to communicate that it is not necessary to put the score on the winner of the tie-break, for reasons totally obvious if you already have the score of the loser, has no need to put the score of the winner. On this basis, automatically know the score of the winner. And this is also standard on Wikipedia and the official scores of the ATP Tour and WTA. I do beg you not to further alter the score of the games. I ask that you please not do that anymore. Preceding unsigned comment added by Egtj (talk) 10:04, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

This is incorrect Egtj. Wikipeida POLICY is to always show both scores of the tiebreak when not in prose. Many novice tennis readers do not understand the nomenclature of only one score so it was decided that both winning and losing tiebreak scores must be present. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:07, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Fyunck is completely correct. While most people knowledgable with tennis completely understand just the loser's tie-break score, they are in the minority. Unlike the ATPWorldTour website, or any grand slam website, which will have a userbase composed entirely of tennis supporters, most Wikipedians will not understand the tie-break scoring system (Or at least, be confused as to why the winner's score isn't shown). That's why we're meant to leave the tie-break there. SellymeTalk 22:37, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Segunda División B[edit]

Unlike in England, when a team has the same points as another team we look at how they did on their two matches when they played each other (only when they have played twice against each other). If the tie is between more than one team, we do a league between those teams (only if they have all played against each other twice). However, in this tie in Group 3 Lleida still needs to play L'Hospitalet next week. Therefore we can not do the head-to-head rule. Thus we move onto goal difference which places Lleida in third position. I know it's hard to understand, but don't doubt on the reliability of the tables. I take care updating them. If you have any other doubts about the league table rules don't hesitate in asking me. Qampunen (talk) 13:32, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

We only do the league system between the tied teams when they have all played each other twice. However, Lleida still needs to play L'Hospitalet next week (L'Hospitalet have 59 points, just like the rest) therefore we can not apply the head-to-head rule yet, thus we go on to the next rule which is goal-diffence. Qampunen (talk) 13:44, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Lleida is third right now, however things might change after this afternoon's matches. Another example similar to Group 3, is the tie in position between four teams with 43 points in 2010-11 La Liga. They are placed according to goal-difference because there is still a match left between two of the teams (Sporting-Racing). Qampunen (talk) 13:50, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Re: 2011 Girabola[edit]

No biggie. These navboxes, as well as the categories, are sometimes a little difficult to find.

As for additional data going into the article, you might also take a look at the MoS for league season articles, just in case you have not already done so, of course. One note regarding the "Positions-by-round" section, though – this is not a standard section, as it might be very difficult to source; in general, it should only be included if the accompanying source is able to list league tables for every round/matchday. Cheers, Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 12:57, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I'm not sure if I'm going to go through with that, but at least it will remind me to check if there is a source available. SellymeTalk 13:07, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Hey, i just did not know what this draw meant, was too confusing for me. All other pages look good and i will add the Volleyball draw later tonight. No need to make extra pages for every e.g. athletics event if that was on your mind. Kante4 (talk) 14:00, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Maybe split the draw(s) in to two 16team brackets and then make a final or semifinal/final bracket? So it looks a bit clearer? Example are the tennis draws. Kante4 (talk) 14:12, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Use this: Template:4TeamBracket-Tennis5 or created the same for squash? Maybe when the Games starts a better draw comes out... Kante4 (talk) 14:20, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Formula 1 records[edit]

The report section is just that: a report. It's a top-down overview of the major events in the race. Although it is important to mention the records that were set, comparisons to previous benchmarks are better-suited to individual race report pages. Otherwise, there is a risk that the report sub-section of the season page will become too long and too detailed, and will return to the bad old days where the "brief report" was actually longer than the rest of the article. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 14:07, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Unless I'm missing something, the information about the record wasn't in the individual race article at all. SellymeTalk 20:59, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Nothing that immediately stands out to me as wrong. I shall be primarily focusing on results though, as I didn't pay attention in Year Six French (Because I didn't have it) and can't understand it in the slightest. SellymeTalk 05:32, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
LOL, I have pretty basic knowledge and understand some words, but far from fluent. You can always use a translation tool. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 14:19, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I've had enough experience reading ca:wiki with Google Translate to know that's not an option. I wish Chrome's inbuilt translator let you suggest better phrases though, that's the main developing feature of the actual client. SellymeTalk 14:26, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I use chrome, and it helps a lot with Spanish (the majority of news is in Spanish for the 2011 Pan Am Games). Intoronto1125TalkContributions 15:12, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

The Big Move[edit]

I changed all the tennis yearly player article to season articles now, which satisfies all of wikipedia's rules, policies, and regulations. Go look at them.SaysWhoWhatWhenWhereWhyHow? (talk) 17:35, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Sandbox 1988 Steffi Graf tennis season[edit]

Hello Sellyme,
I am wondering if you want to help me on this article. If you do by the way just give me a shout on my talk page, and I will work you thru the process.
Thanks,
SaysWhoWhatWhenWhereWhyHow? (talk) 20:50, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

I was thinking about having you make individual tournament wikitables, and put them in the corresponding months. Go here, you will have to go to 1988 in the drop down menu and select singles. The doubles we can wait for at the present moment because it will be basically wikitables anyways because back in 1988 not very much was even written about doubles even in the slams. So, just take your time, on getting this done. I like the way the WTA Tour has each tournament segregated into their own little wikitable, which is what I hope we can do on wikipedia. By the way, the ATP does this as well, so it is standard in tennis related publications. Thanks for helping me!SaysWhoWhatWhenWhereWhyHow? (talk) 16:10, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Tennis Barnstar Hires.png The Tennis Barnstar
For continued excellence in maintaining tennis article quality. Fyunck(click) (talk) 11:01, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh wow. I'm honoured to be the first recipient of this barnstar. Sure I won't be the last though, I'm definitely not the only one making tennis related contributions! (Though cheers for reminding me to get off my ass and get back to fixing the score formatting) SellymeTalk 11:29, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Also, I hope you don't mind, but I fixed up the formatting of the barnstar on your userpage so it's a bit nicer-looking. SellymeTalk 11:59, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
No prob... I do like it much better though with a constrained width. Fyunck(click) (talk) 17:57, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Do you mean so that the text goes to a new line after x characters? SellymeTalk 21:24, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
The word wrapping doesn't look bad to me. What I don't personally like is the box stretching half way across the screen like the one above. That exact shorter width looks best at least on my 1920x1080 screen. Now if the sig starts on a completely new line that's fine but the box itself needs to be 19em wide for my own needs. Of course everyone can change the box shape to fit their own pages and likings... those are just mine. I just wanted to get that image I created out there on at least one page, so spread it to whoever you like. Fyunck(click) (talk) 22:06, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Ah, yes, but previously the width was on the image, which left it with tonnes of empty space. SellymeTalk 00:45, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Sadly, I will be unable to work on the 1988 Steffi Graf tennis season article because this invaluable resource is shut down. I just wanted to inform you on this sad development.SaysWhoWhatWhenWhereWhyHow? (talk) 03:14, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I read about it on the Google blog. Most of labs was shut down, which really hinders the possibility of getting this done. Fortunately there's the Wayback Archiver, but that may not work for some articles. SellymeTalk 03:38, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released[edit]

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:00, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
