An update from the Sustainability Initiative

Thank you for supporting the Sustainability Initiative!

Hi, Simonjon! Thank you again for supporting the Sustainability Initiative, which aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement. Over the past two years, more than 200 Wikipedians from all over the world have come together to push the Wikimedia movement towards greater sustainability.

What's new?

We are writing you this message because there is great news: The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has finally passed a resolution stating that the Foundation is committed to seeking ways to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Also, we have created a cool logo and found a nice name for the project which you can see on the right :-)

What's next?

Currently, we are working with Wikimedia Foundation staff to make sustainability a key priority for the selection of a new location for Wikimedia servers in Singapore. Also, we have presented the Wikimedia Foundation with a green energy roadmap to have all Wikimedia servers run on renewable energy by 2019.

Please help!

Let's keep this project moving forward – and there are several ways in which you can help:

How is a company valued at £7bn (according to leading financial newspaper Financial Times) and owned by one of the world's largest soveriegn wealth funds (Temasek Holdings not 'notable'?! Please see WP:INHERITORG. A company's parents do not automatically grant itself notability. Sources are still needed; here, there are only three with no significant information regarding the company itself. Also, other stuff always exists. Silikonz💬 18:22, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

@B-bot hello. thanks for flagging. It _is_ being used on the article Element Materials Testing,, which I authored and then published, but an over zealous editor forced it into Draft, despite it have citations from Financial Times and multiple news agencies and questioning notability despite it having been bought by a sovereign wealth fund for $7bn. I have submitted the article for review, though I understand that this can take some time, so please bear with me. Simonjon (talk) 08:28, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
