Imaged tagged for deletion[edit]

Hi! You tagged an image I used for deletion. File:JohnLloydMiller.jpg. I wrongly attributed this photo. It is one of his publicity photos, regularly used in articles and around the web, and intended to be used to depict him. I think I should've used the non-free promotional attribute. Would that be more appropriate?

James Maddock.jpeg[edit]

James Maddock.jpeg

You marked this for deletion - I have not seen a suitable replacement for this image in the Wiki Commons. If you can find one, please send link?

Otherwise I will dispute: {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}

Image is used fairly.

Request to userfy The Worshyp[edit]

Hi! I recognize you from Category:Wikipedia administrators who will provide copies of deleted articles, and I am currently reviewing the AfC submission Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Worshyp. I'm asking that you userfy the deleted article The Worshyp to my userspace for me to see if the article was notable when it went directly through article space. Thanks! Michaelzeng7 (talk) 17:04, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that! Michaelzeng7 (talk) 20:10, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of Copyright rationale[edit]

The article Takraf India Pvt. Ltd. was wrongly attributed a Creative Commons License, which I've changed to Copyrighted with the "non-free fair use in|Takraf India Pvt. Ltd." tag. Do I have to do anything else to prevent its deletion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saswat777 (talkcontribs) 04:37, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looks fine now- I'm presuming that you are speaking of the image and not the article. I've marked it for size reduction... a bot should take care of that in a bit. Skier Dude (talk) 04:41, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh Yes, I was referring to the logo. Thanks for the help :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saswat777 (talkcontribs) 10:53, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Newcastle United FC crest[edit]

Hi there SD, sorry to bother you. Recently you deleted File:NUFC - Old Crest - Magpie.png because it was unused. However, the reason that it was unused is that it was removed from the article it was present on (the Newcastle United F.C. page) without explanation by a user who has annoyed others for doing similar things to other pages. It is my belief that the image's removal was unwarranted, and I'd like to ask whether you could undelete it. Thank you for reading. Malpass93! Berdella (film) page deleted[edit]

I saw that my wiki page Berdella (film) was deleted due to (G8: Page dependent on a deleted or nonexistent page).

Apparently user 17:20, 8 October 2010 Bovineboy2008 (talk | contribs) moved page Berdella (film) to Berdella (no need for disambiguation).

How can I go about restoring my original page Berdella (film) which had information about my movie Berdella which was a seperate page from the existing Berdella wiki based solely on the real life killer? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.24.6.168 (talk) 18:26, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The actual article was moved to Berdella - there was no content at that location before the move, so there was nothing on the "real life killer" with that name here. I would be willing to userfy the old article to your sandbox/user space so that you can work on it - it would be easily nominated for deletion again becuase there were no references except the imdb listing. Please log in and make the request so I can put it in the appropriate user's space. Skier Dude (talk) 19:49, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel Rosenfeld (composer)[edit]

Why did you delete my page for Daniel "C418" Rosenfeld? He is notable because he wrote the soundtrack for Minecraft. Heymister14 (talk) 16:49, 5 August 2012 (UTC)heymister14[reply]

You've been around to know what G8 means - look to Daniel Rosenfeld (composer) - which was deleted becuase of A7 & as a non-referenced biography by User:SarahStierch (& I concur with her deletion- no evidence of notablity in the article). Skier Dude (talk) 19:31, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free revisions[edit]

Hi, I see you've been deleting some old non-free file versions but left the notification template {{Orphaned non-free revisions}} on the pages. Will these templates be removed by a bot? After all they auto-categorise the files into Category:Non-free files with orphaned versions more than 7 days old and it's quite confusing to find them there when they've actually been cleaned. De728631 (talk) 21:34, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Working one letter at a time - just wait and they'll disappear in a few minutes. Skier Dude (talk) 21:37, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I guess I'm then going to work on the opposite end of the category. :) De728631 (talk) 21:45, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I had done a null edit on the template and around 2700 showed up. I start a couple hundred the other night. I saw the notice at the top of the page that said a bot would be by in awhile to remove them, so I had left them for ahile. Then saw that it was a manual task. Was about to leave a note with the bots owner, but saw you cleaned them up yourself. Thanks for that. I really need to learn how to utilize that AWB tool. Incorrect Removal op Ram L. Lakhina page[edit]

Dear Skier Dude, could you please explain why you deleted the page "Ram L. Lakhina"? I do not see why you categorized the page as 'G8: Page dependent on a deleted or nonexistent page', as it was clearly about a public figure in the Netherlands, with references mentioned at the bottom of the page. All texts were taken from various public books and documents. All photographs were taken by family members giving permission to use them om Wikipedia. All later updates, such as receiving awards from the Dutch Queen, are completely inline with wikipedia text contirbution regulations. I therefore do not understand why you would take such a drastic step to remove a complete page, where I and others have spent endless hours in contributing to. Please respond to my message or undelete the page. Thanks. Lavesh777 (talk) 15:49, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Protection of the Criticism section of the Mass Rapid Transit System (Chennai) article[edit]

Skier Dude, I would like to request protection of the "Criticism" section of the Mass Rapid Transit System (Chennai) article. I came across the article last month to learn more about different rapid transit systems around the world, as I have been a transit fan. I saw the criticism section and thought it needed some serious work. The content was strongly biased and violated Wikipedia's neutral policy and additionally, it was put in a list, which was extremely long and unreadable. As a responsible Wikipedian, I like to see all articles written in their best form. But this particular section was written with poor style. Some of the users, on the Talk page, wanted the article to be featured status, but the criticism section will prevent it from achieving such, if it is not properly remedied: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mass_Rapid_Transit_System_(Chennai)&diff=502588399&oldid=502098156

After seeing this, I placed in some tags to check POV. The user SkySun312 responded negatively "04:39, August 2, 2012‎ Skysun312 (talk | contribs)‎ . . (46,345 bytes) (+591)‎ . . (→‎Criticism: added details with reference so that some f*cki*g as**ho** doesn't complain that this article is not neutral and other crap.) (undo)" This behaviour is uncivil and does not foster community. Moreover, his re-edits have not corrected the basic issues of the section. While such a section would add to the information, it must be properly used and written for it to be on a Wikipedia article. Thus, I request that you protect the criticism section of this article, until I and the others can re-write the section that is more compliant with Wikipedia's terms and policies.

After reviewing the history of the article, I see that there is another user Snokia that was editing the same section. Based on my interaction with SkySun312 through the talk page of the Chennai MRTS article, and Snokia's rather uncivil interactions with other users on the Triplicane article, I have begun to wonder if they are the same person using multiple accounts. I cannot allege further than what I've see and the fact that Snokia and SkySun312 were not active the same periods. I'm doing all of this in all good faith for the Wikipedia community. Roland C. Summit's Child sexual abuse accomodation syndrome[edit]

Hi Skier Dude, I, along with two other wikipedia members have wrote an article on the Child Sexual Abuse Accomodation Syndrome. However, it was suggested to us to create a new page by the title: Roland C. Summit's Child sexual abuse accomodation syndrome. I would really appreciate it if you could take a look, give us feedback and approve the article.

You seem to be doing fine - in fact, you have been warned multiple times about your uploads. I would highly suggest using a program like GIMP to pre-process the images before uploading them to reduce the size. Skier Dude (talk) 17:52, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral Point of View[edit]

Hi Skier Dude,

I've seen a notice on the page pertaining to an article I published for an employer. I am new to Wikipedia and want to do my best to contribute meaningfully to the site with all due respect to its policies and the interests of the users. I have tried to cite the article extensively. Any quote by a major newspaper or publication has been cited, every piece of work attributed to a major public figure and company has been cited. Please let me know what I should do to reach the best level of quality possible. I completely realize that I might not have done this the right way and I'm reading the guidelines now, however even as someone close to the subject, I believe that I have taken appropriate steps to ensure that the article is of a certain quality, and that any opinions expressed are supported by those given through highly reputable (and cited) third parties. I really would appreciate your help whenever you find the time.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcr9336 (talkcontribs) 18:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image in the Northwestern HS article[edit]

Why was the header image in the schools infobox for Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, tampered with? What condition wasn't supposedly met? --Khemistry (talk) 03:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

First off - lose the "tampered with" language, which is usually used related to vandalism. It was not "tampered with" - since you've seen the image page, you would have seen the link to the Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria which refers to Wikipedia:Image use policy the reasons that these images are reduced. Also, logo images are normally displayed at 300px on the longer side, so having them stored any larger doesn't do any good. There's also Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Images and Wikipedia:Accessibility#Images for further guidelines. Skier Dude (talk) 03:10, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
First off, lose the attitude. You address me in a manner to which you agreed to when you decided to become a Wikipedia editor. Secondly, don't misconstrue my words and turn them into something I didn't intend. If I wanted to imply you vandalized the image, I have no problem telling you in such wording. I don't know you from a day in China. I have no reason to beat around the bush. Next, you didn't answer my question. Clearly, I can read and write English, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to figure out how to communicate with you. Had my question been answered in the supplied links, I wouldn't have taken my time to send you a message. Kind of a "Duh moment," there. So, again, why exactly was the imagine tampered with and what conditions weren't met? We can either do this the easy way — the way that Wikipedia instructs you as a contributor to handle conversations in a respectful and civilized manner, of we can escalate this to an editors dispute, if you can't seem to follow the rules are you are so quick to post. What's your pleasure? It doesn't bother me any which way. --Khemistry (talk) 06:25, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maryland Pride, there was no distortion - the word tamper has a clear negative meaning, and if that's not what you meant you shouldn't have said it - Skier Dude was quite right to tell you not to use such words, as at worst it suggests an accusation vandalism, and at best it implies a declaration of content ownership. If you upload images to this project, other editors may have legitimate reasons to alter them, and such alternations are not "tampering". It seems pretty clear to me that the warnings you received at Talk:Northwestern High School (Hyattsville, Maryland) have fallen on death ears. Pointing out the meaning of what people say violates neither WP:NPA nor WP:CIVIL, and you talk about "respect", but respect has to be earned, and you aren't going to get it if you go on the war path every time an editor does something you have the slightest disagreement with. For your information, I tagged the image to have its size reduced as uploading non-free images with an excessively high resolution violates WP:NFCC (see criterion 3b), as the software I had couldn't get a reduction in size to work, eventually resulting in Skier Dude coming along and doing it for me - something I thank him for, and really you should too. CT Cooper · talk 12:16, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, Maryland Pride (talk · contribs) has removed the non-free reduce tag that you added and is hostile to anyone who adds it back. He uploaded a .svg version to replace the .png version in some kind of attempt to get around the need for non-free images to be low resolution, on grounds that .svg images don't technically have a resolution. I forgot to log in on a couple edits and I don't want my IP address to be visible. The edits were the IP edits between 1:52 3 September 12 and 2:15 3 September 12 on the Wikipedia:IPA for Nahuatl. Could you please hide my IP address on those edits and then attach those edits to my account? --Ephert (talk) 02:55, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) I'm working on this — I've hidden your IP address from the edits per WP:REVDEL, and I'm writing a message to the oversight team. As far as I'm aware, it is technically impossible to reassign an edit done while logged out to your account; the only thing that can be done is to suppress your IP address so the edits in question will appear to be completely anonymous. — Richwales 04:52, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And I just heard back from the oversight team — the edits in question have now been oversighted (completely and totally expunged, in such a way that not even an administrator can view them anymore). — Richwales 05:15, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
