Happy New Year, it seems so many years since we have talked, or even started on Wp - I must say you have the dedication that should be acknowledged!!

I am thinking (note, only thinking at this stage) of doing an Australian (as in India.. etc) rail project/portal/etc, what do you think? is it worth the effort? satusuro 04:07, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, and happy new year to you too! I was looking back at my editing history recently and recalled that my first edits were made in September 2004. Wow!
As to creating an Australian rail task force or WikiProject, it sounds great. As I noted in the UK talk page discussion recently, it's pretty easy to add new project/taskforce parameters to the WikiProject Trains banner; just create the article quality and importance categories and we can update the banner in under an hour. I would only recommend creating a unique banner if there are articles within that project's scope that aren't in TWP's scope (for example, the Trains in Japan WikiProject includes articles about aerial tramways in Japan within its project scope, but they are beyond the scope of TWP).
The only drawback that I've found since creating the Trains portal in June 2005 and maintaining it almost daily since then is that I don't get anyone else to volunteer to help update it. That's the main reason the right-hand column stays much the same for extended periods. I don't mind it so much because it gives me a reason to come back to edit more and write and improve more railroad articles. Plus it sounds impressive when I say that "I'm the lead editor on Wikipedia's Trains portal."

wow - soon to be your WP: 10th Birthday (you can join an exclusive club then, I think) The Australian project is in permanent holiday mode imho, so to add a rail project like Evad has created a Road project wouldnt be much fuss, just a long time to slowly fix...(probably no help there as well) so just thinking for the moment. Feel free to give me an offline message if you want, if you want any clues suggestions as to the portal update issue. cheers for the mo. I'll get back to you about the WP:AUrail idea sometime soon. satusuro 06:30, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
ok i have seen your recent edits - see what i need to do as I roam the untagged railway cats and arts now... satusuro 14:44, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
I've been using the unassessed category as the supply for the Trains portal DYK section. I walk through the list alphabetically until I find an article with sufficient content and an interesting fact to use on the portal; as I go along, I update the banners. Rating station articles for Trains WikiProject

Hi: I'm a bit puzzled why you tagged Gare d'Estrées-Saint-Denis as unreferenced. There is one reference. Yngvadottir (talk) 15:53, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

The unref tag doesn't always mean that there are no references, it also means that an article can and should be better referenced to multiple reliable sources. The article you mentioned has exactly one source listed, and for a station that's been in existence for about 130 years, there definitely should be more references that can be cited for the article. Slambo (Speak) 15:58, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
The article for this station on the French Wikipedia, for example, lists five different sources in its references section. Slambo (Speak) 16:00, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
See also WP:ONESOURCE for more information. Slambo (Speak) 16:01, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
Ah - I agree the referencing could use improvement, but that isn't how I interpret "unreferenced=yes". Yngvadottir (talk) 16:17, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
That's why the text that displays in the banner specifically says "...lacks sufficient references and/or adequate inline citations" rather than "...is unreferenced." The implication is that the article could be better referenced both to more sources and with more inline citations (usually via footnotes, but Harvard style is also acceptable) Slambo (Speak) 16:22, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

White space

Hi, re this edit - I don't see any white space in the previous version. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

It's a weird bug with the template. The output text was displaying "As of 2013 ," instead of "As of 2013," like it does when you look at the page in the history. I just tried entering "{{As of|2013}}," on one of my personal pages and it showed the extra space when I hit preview. For further testing, I'll enter both with and without alt here and save the page.
Without alt text: As of 2013,
With alt text: As of 2013,
I'm using Firefox version 26. Slambo (Speak) 14:44, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Right now, the version without the alt text above is showing a whitespace before the comma. Slambo (Speak) 14:45, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
I'll mention this on the template's talk page for further troubleshooting. Slambo (Speak) 14:47, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Odd, I see the extra space on this page - but not in the previous version of Stapleton Road railway station. Firefox 26, Opera 12.16 --Redrose64 (talk) 16:03, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
