Well, it's a personal thing, I could only answer for myself. Convenience, price, and the particular kinds of games which appear on the systems in my own case. The encyclopedia's kind of wary of using subjective things like that in articles, and ideally they should be implicit in the articles anyway ("Ah, so consoles use a standard TV"). I don't get it. I have a PC that is capable of running games. Why oh why would I dish out a lot of extra money to buy a console to play games? If I need TV output I can simply take the TV output offered by the graphics cards. What's in a console?

If Sockatume will allow me, the most common reason people choose consoles over PCs is in fact, twofold. Convinience / Cost. Assume you have neither a PC nor a console and want something to play games on. A console (post-launch) is substancially cheaper than a PC, does not require "advanced" technological knowledge and will not need to be updated every time the games advance ahead of the graphics cards and processing abilities of their PC. Yes. Though I won't be drawn into a debate as to the merits of one format over another, there are many people who consider console games to be more to their liking. Traditionally, the PC market has been dominated by FPS and strategy games. Consoles have a wider variety of driving, beat-'em-ups, third person action/advetures... As well as this, there is the less obvious fact that a console will likely be placed in either the living/sitting/den room or a bedroom - traditional spots of comfort. PCs are generally found at desks, often in offices meaning that the degree of comfort experienced whilst playing is less. - Hayter 12:47, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
