Moondram Pirai[edit]

Would you like to conduct a GA review on the film? —Ssven2 speak 2 me 02:44, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

I would love to but I'm not sure. Give me a couple days to consider it. If the nomination is still unattended, I might take it. -- Sriram speak up 03:27, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
@Kailash29792: Hey! I'm contemplating taking up the GA review, which would be my first. I'm gonna wait till weekend and take it up if its still open. Considering I have no prior experience, can you oversee it if I do? -- Sriram speak up 06:22, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
No Ssven, he will debut with GA reviewing once he has scored at least a few more GA's so that he has experience in reviewing proses. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:42, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
@Ssven2: Here is something for you about Rajini's salary for Chandramukhi. -- Sriram speak up 18:21, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the ref. Face-grin.svgSsven2 speak 2 me 03:39, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank you Sriram for the Appreciation. I have asked Onel5969 to conduct a GA review and he responded saying that he would do a massive copy editing first. It was my long lasting desire to improve this article which due to lord's grace and help of users like Kailash29792, Ssven2 and Satkara could stand in this position in just months time. I want to see it as a GA by 14 January 2015 and Onel5969 too accepted to help me. Hope you too would help me. And let it first be a GA. Then we would go for FA. BTW. You are right. i will add the character name right now. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:07, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the uploads of poster and soundtrack cover. But i cropped the former to an extent as it actually is a DVD cover and though many other posters are available, this suits for two main reasons.

1. It is a part of the film's logo.

2. It is a still from the song which won National Award for Best Choreography.

Please do not consider my upload as an act of vandalism. Thank you. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:16, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

There is no need to crop the image. Even if it is a DVD cover, it is still allowed. And there isn't much in it to pose any problems whatsoever. I'm gonna revert the image. But stay cool. Trust me with this. Its not a big issue. -- Sriram speak up 07:23, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
But I do not want to see anyone faking a poster, when there are so many official and HQ ones available in Google search. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:26, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Well then, the licensing and summary can be tweaked to say its an video cover. Or, can you find such posters that are available? -- Sriram speak up 07:30, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Or, is it possible for you to remove the 'Sri Balaji' logo using photoshop? -- Sriram speak up 07:31, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Well i do have a citation with TOI as the source for sure. But i did not use it in the top so as to follow WP:LEAD. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:37, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Kailash29792 lets do a thing. If you can remove the logo using photoshop, remove it and upload that. If not possible, find a poster featuring both the leads in Google and upload it. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:39, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
I did check the TOI source. While it claims that the film completed a 1000 day run, it says nothing about magadheera being the longest running film. -- Sriram speak up 07:45, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Well, i used that phrase as Chandramukhi, which had a 830 day run, was cited as the longest running south Indian film and since this film crossed 1000 days, i wrote that way. During the former's GA review, Ssven2 included that fact on Kailash's advice in that article. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:51, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Firstly, the lede section is supposed to briefly summarise contents in the article body. Which means, the claim should be explicitly stated so in the body. Secondly, you can't make such tall claims unless its verifiable. -- Sriram speak up 07:57, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

If that is the case, you are free to remove the objectionable claims and content if any in the lead. :) Pavanjandhyala (talk) 08:00, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Guess what? I am currently editing this in Photoshop. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:02, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
I like the existing image a lot. Is it difficult to edit? Then, how about this or this? Sriram speak up 08:07, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Kailash, I think it is easy to remove just the words "Sri Balaji Video" and let the logo stay. What say? -- Sriram speak up 08:11, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
That would be like faking/manipulating an image. But now I have uploaded a new one that should settle. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:19, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Good one Kailash. But you should have considered the lead pair's existence. Well, i request you to take a glance at these pages - 1 and 2. If you feel anyone better than this, pick it and if not, lets settle with this. But please do try to pick the one with the lead pair. And if you consider them, kindly do photoshop them before uploading. :) Pavanjandhyala (talk) 08:24, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

One more thing guys. If you want to ask something or talk to me about something related to this or any other article related discussion, i shall be available only after 9:30 PM today. Sorry for the inconvenience if caused any. Thank you. And Kailash, please do intimate me about the poster you select - the existing, link 2 or any other poster available in link 1 other than these two. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 08:32, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Mouna Ragam[edit]

On its GAR page, I have posted a link containing the whole chapter from Conversations with Mani Ratnam related to it. Can you please read it and do some corrections in the article? Kailash29792 (talk) 08:05, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

Sure. But can't do it right now. Am busy with Anniyan. Will look into it probably by tomorrow. Btw, I had asked whether you can help me if I take up the GA review of Moondram Pirai. Why haven't you replied yet? -- Sriram speak up 08:46, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Oh sorry, I didn't know the message was targeted at me. And why I can't review the article is, because I have edited it significantly before. If ever there was a co-nominator for its possible FAC, that would be me. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:07, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
I wasn't asking you to review. I just wanted you to oversee my review, that is if I take it up. -- Sriram speak up 12:42, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Please make your GA reviewing debut once you have scored at least a few more GA's, so that you are more experienced with knowing how good any prose must be from other reviewer's comments. And what happened of Kadhalikka Neramillai? Kailash29792 (talk) 14:15, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Well, one day when I was in a really bad mood, I signed in to check if the review has begun and was pissed off to find that it hasn't and that the nomination was lying dormant for months. In the heat of the moment, I delisted the nom. That's it. -- Sriram speak up 15:09, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
I thought you withdrew it because you had some major rework to do. And if ever it will resume, make sure that "accolades" contains only the awards it received, not the celebrity quotes which fit better in "reception" and "legacy". Kailash29792 (talk) 15:21, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Even I felt it out of place. I would appreciate if you can make the necessary changes to the MOS. -- Sriram speak up 15:34, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
The other reason is also partially true. I think with some work, it would be good enough for FAC. -- Sriram speak up 15:35, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
If you don't mind, I can ask someone to review Kadhalikka Neramillai for you. — Ssven2 speak 2 me 05:41, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────@Kailash29792: Hey! Sorry man for I could not do the necessary corrections. It was on my 'to-do' list and I intended to get back to it, but got caught up with other things and forgot it. When I finally remembered, the article had passed its GA. My bad! -- 14:42, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Magadheera GA[edit]

Magadheera became a GA yesterday. I could not inform you the same as i was busy with the GAR of Dookudu. Sorry for the delay. Face-smile.svg Pavanjandhyala (talk) 07:28, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

@Pavanjandhyala: Congrats dude! Don't stop with it. The article has enough depth of information and has potential for FA. Improve the prose quality with another copy-edit and peer review before going for FAC. And, my wishes for your GAN of Dookudu. -- Sriram speak up 11:33, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. But can i know why the poster uploaded for Dookudu was reverted? Face-smile.svg Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:15, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
There was nothing wrong with the older image. I don't know why you keep insisting with a poster showing both the leads. And, the image you uploaded lacked clarity. -- Sriram speak up 12:31, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Let me tell you something. For films that released in the last 5-8 years or so, dozens of posters can be found. And, any of them can be used for the infobox to serve as a means of visual identification. But, it would be even better if the poster is selected so as to depict the film's theme. For Magadheera, the romance between the lead is the underlying theme without which there is no story. So, I can understand if you insist on a poster showing both. But Dookudu is more of an actioner than a romance film. Hence, IMHO, the older image suits best. -- Sriram speak up 12:40, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

You might want to include this in the Popular culture part. The spoof begins from 0:52. This is the newspaper/magazine source for it. — Ssven2 speak 2 me 03:28, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Vikram filmography[edit]

Yeah. What's up? -- Sriram speak up 16:41, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
You can archive all the dead links or other references you would like to archive here. No need to go for webarchive. Face-smile.svgSsven2 speak 2 me 16:56, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll think it over. Seems like a tedious process. -- Sriram speak up 17:03, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
I searched Google news, and I's Telugu version is still titled Manoharudu apparently. Please verify this. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:21, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
In the Telugu posters, the film is named I. -- Sriram speak up 15:46, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Guys, initially it was Manoharudu. But Shankar later changed it to I to indicate hero himself. Since many were aware of Manoharudu, it was used as a caption. Later Manoharudu was also removed in few selected release posters with only I being retained. Thus you can assume he title as only I or I with the caption Manoharudu (The one who steals the heart). Face-smile.svg Pavanjandhyala (talk) 17:59, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
For further proof, check these CD covers of Telugu soundtrack of I - 1, 2. You will get enough clarity i believe. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 06:34, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── The prose looks good to me. If you are not able to find the year for Vishwanath, then I'll cut you some slack, i. e. I'll just leave it as it is. Face-smile.svgSsven2 speak 2 me 03:27, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Sivaji (film), an article that you or your project may be interested in, has been nominated for an individual good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status may be removed from the article. — Ssven2 speak 2 me 13:45, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Sure. Btw, I remember reading an interview of AVM Saravanan in the Tamil weekly Thuglak that was published probably in November 2014. There Saravanan talked about the difficulties in producing films these days within film studios as most of film shoots have moved outdoors. Therefore, shooting within studios is more expensive as they have to erect sets for everything. He then said that most of the floors in their studio was being used for filming reality shows as even most TV serials are being shot at real homes. However, the most relevant point is that while making Sivaji, they weren't looking to produce any films and it happened purely by accident. He also said that it was Rajinikanth who pitched the idea to Saravanan. I can't remember more as I was just skimming the magazine before hitting the sack. If you are able to track down a copy of the issue, try to find if there is any more info regarding the film's making. Regards. -- Sriram speak up 13:57, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Btw, considering that you haven't listed the article at WP:GAR, does it mean that it is an individual reassessment? If so, the reassessment should be "initiated and concluded by a single user". Then, why ask more than one editor for inputs? Clarify. -- Sriram speak up 14:04, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
I also wonder why there are very little Tamil language for a film of such scale. -- Sriram speak up 14:07, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
It is listed now. Check it out. — Ssven2 speak 2 me 04:33, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Yes, it is. I asked you b'coz even after purging the page, the entry wasn't listed. There was probably a delay in the processing bot. -- Sriram speak up 06:17, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Mid Day[edit]

Is the site loading for you? For me it is not; I am not sure whether its a dead link now, or a server problem. But its links still appear in Google search, unlike other dead links. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:18, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

WTF! The site just loaded an hour back and I even added a ref (ref #2) to Vikram's filmography. But, it isn't loading now. When I used 'https', it shows "This Connection is Untrusted"!! -- Sriram speak up 12:22, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Goddamn, you didn't even archive it! Not even a cached version of it seems to be there! But because the links still display in Google search, I guess they will work again. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:30, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Haha! Face-smile.svg The site might not open here but webarchive can access it any time. I just created an archive of the page. Check in webarchive. -- Sriram speak up 12:34, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
The actual page too is loading now. Probably a problem with their database. -- Sriram speak up 12:35, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Vikram filmography copy-edit - summary of changes made[edit]

Hi Sriram. Done the pass over the lead text. I haven't deleted anything - I've only looked at the flow of the text and made some changes. I went back to a couple of sources and clarified a few points, mainly putting "cardboard" in quotes (since it's a word directly used by the source), and changed "criticised" to "negatively received", which I think just clarifies that the reviews were poor. I also changed "suffering" from autism to "with autism"; as someone who is mildly autistic it's not offensive to say "suffering" (at least not to me) but it's not something we would generally say. I did consider "autistic gardener undertaker" but wasn't sure what the general Wikipedia MOS stance would be on "person-first language". Everything else just needed a few tweaks.

Otherwise, no glaring problems with it. I'm sorry to drag my feet over it; however, generally speaking, I can only sit down with intensive copy-editing at weekends (or on holiday days like today :)). During the week I do bits and pieces around the site, but only very rudimentary things that don't require a lot of thought. I do apologise for not having made this clear. LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 10:32, 21 January 2015 (UTC)

@Lstanley1979: Oh! I didn't know that. Considering that you are a member of the GOCE, I was hoping that I could drop in any time with a request. Too sad I couldn't!! -- Sriram speak up 17:07, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
You can still ask. I work on GOCE stuff a lot at weekends (particularly during drive months) and when I'm able to, so there's nothing wrong with asking whether I can do something. LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 17:12, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 17:18, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
I think you know that the Tamil David was shot and not dubbed (explained by the presence of Jiiva in it, who is absent in Hindi) but if Vikram's portions from the Hindi version were retained and not reshot, mention that. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:34, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
FYI, the supporting citation claims that the Tamil version was dubbed. And, The Hindu's review states that there were no lip-sync in portions involving Vikram. As far as I know, the segment featuring Jiiva was reshot in Tamil. Considering that this is Vikram's filmography, I don't think it is necessary to go into the details. -- Sriram speak up 03:47, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── In this article, Vikram states that he wasn't aware that the film was being made in Tamil and that the makers "cheated" him by dubbing his segment into Tamil without his knowledge!! -- Sriram speak up 04:02, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Shankar's I[edit]

Does that added sentence need a reference? LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 10:35, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

It does. I'll take care of it. -- Sriram speak up 13:15, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Picture of Vikram[edit]

Just a question about the licensing - you do have permission to release that as CC-BY? I'm just checking, because I couldn't find a licence on that source site. No-one's commented on it at the featured review, but I'm just curious. LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 18:29, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Even I could not find any license info at the site. I just found that a lot of images of Indian celebrities have been added from the site galleries using the creative commons license and it has been verified by a reviewer. I don't know how it works. If you wanna know more about it, check the info on OTRS or ask one of the license reviewers. -- Sriram speak up 08:21, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
If a reviewer has checked it, that's fine - I was just wondering. I'll have a look. LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 11:01, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
Should have checked Commons - that seems to be fine. LouiseS1979 (pigeonhole) 11:05, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
