Orphaned non-free media (File:Eurovision network logo.svg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Eurovision network logo.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:26, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

ESA member countries?[edit]

Hi.

I just wanted to ask if there was a reason for changing the term member states to member countries. As far as I can tell the term member states is the one which is used most often in the sources including the ESA website. So, is there a reason? --U5K0'sTalkMake WikiLove not WikiWar 19:34, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Coat of Arms[edit]

Argentine Presidential Decree 10302 states that the only valid Coat of Arms is the one with the laurel crown, i.e. the only one which is a faithful reproduction of the 1813 Assembly COA. In essence your image cannot be associated with Argentine State matters as it's an illegal misrepresentation of a Symbol of State and unusable under Argentine Law. Its inclusion in most articles would invariably lead to it being replaced by the correct one, so it will be more harm than good. While chances are that your escutcheon image could find some uses, they are not massive enough for it to be used as a template, specially as one that'd be so prone to misuse.

Besides, if you take the little extra job of looking at the template's revision history you'll see that it was me who added the template in the first place. It was not there because it doesn't belong there. I am just trying to fix this issue. Windroff (talk) 05:45, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of European Cockpit Association[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on European Cockpit Association requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. SuperMarioMan 05:32, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

File:JCDecaux logo.svg missing description details[edit]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 08:38, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Information icon In a recent edit to the page LaTeX, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. XFEM Skier (talk) 15:44, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Infoboxes[edit]

I really don't care what your concerns are, I worked extremely hard so that every national symbol article has an infobox describing the date of adoption, the armiger, the specific elements of the design, and there are absolutely no rules that the infoboxes are only for heraldic works. The United States' article has an infobox, the North Korean article has an infobox, they all do. If you do not return the infobox, I will seek intervention as I have no patience. Fry1989 eh? 01:30, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

It does not trouble you that it is completely misleading to use heraldic terms for logos etc? It should because this is an encyclopedia. How much time someone has spent doing something doesn't mean the thing being done was right. ps: I hope for your own sake you aren't this rude IRL. cheers. - Ssolbergj (talk) 01:46, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
No, it doesn't trouble me at all. If you have a problem with the terms used in the inbox, why not try to make them more neutral? The infoboxes serve a very clear purpose of neatly providing relevant image information, and uniformity among all articles is important. You're removing the infobox on a technicality that can easily be corrected and overall isn't really doesn't matter that much. Even non-heraldic works like the emblem of Macedonia can share some heraldic nature, such as the red star (prior to 2009) cresting the whole symbol. Fry1989 eh? 02:00, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
Your term nitpicking has also caused the loss of important links, which I have returned. Now are you willing to return the infobox or not? Fry1989 eh? 07:16, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
The onus really is on you to find or make a template that's suitable if you really want one. Factual errors, such as saying that a logo has an escutcheon or that cats have beaks, for that matter, are more serious problems than the lack of a box. I won't change the heraldic template, because the scope of it is clear: it's for heraldry. The boxes currently used for Macedonia and Balarus, for example, contain info copied from the main text anyway. - Ssolbergj (talk) 00:08, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
There is no onus on me at all, unless you can find some rule or guideline or consensus that the infoboxes may only be used for heraldic works. Do you have that? Two users have a clear objection to your removal of the infobox, one of them you threatened. If you remove them again without some form of consensus, perhaps this will require wider review. Fry1989 eh? 01:12, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
It's good practice not to drastically alter the scope of an established template, in this case changing it from coats of arms to basically any graphic symbol. You should make an infobox for any graphic symbol since you clearly want one to exist. - Ssolbergj (talk) 01:40, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
