New articles[edit]

Everyone is welcome to add new articles - subject to our critieria - the articles should be neutral, non-promotional and backed by external sources. See above. Good luck. Brookie :) { - he's in the building somewhere!} (Whisper...) 10:14, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Brookie for you assistance,

I have previously tried to add a page, but it was deleted so I clearly did something wrong Hahaha, which was not the intention though. I more or less posted the following as set out below, but apparently my username at the time was a violation of Wiki, but I have changed my username subsequently.

"Le Kap magazine in a luxury lifestyle magazine published in South Africa by Le Mag Publications Group. The magazine is released quarterly - during March, June, September and December".

Another Question: I see some magazines have a photo on the right hand side of the page - is this allowed in our case?

Kind regards,

Steve--Steve Swan (talk) 10:24, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

your reason here

Decline reason:

You are blocked for sockpuppetry, which is the abuse of multiple accounts. Your primary account, Lekapmag is blocked; the block is applied to you personally, not to one specific account. Creating another account is block evasion, which is not allowed. The fact that you appear to be editing on behalf of a magazine is also cause for concern. No magazine, organization or company is allowed to have a Wikipedia account.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:06, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I am very confused why I have been blocked - Could you please explain to me what I am doing differently to what other magazines are doing?

Regards

Hi, I am confused what I am doing wrong. When I fist registered I used the name Lekap mag and my contribution was deleted. I subsequently registered again as Steve Swan and hoped that would resolve the problem, but now it would seem as if the old username of Lekap mag has resulted in me being blocked entirely.

What I was hoping to achieve is to list a magazine we publish - is this allowed or not. I seem to see numerous magazines listed and they ling through to a wiki page when one clicks on their name.

Please advise

Regards

Request reason:

Thanks Anthony for the advice offered but I did not create another account to try and evade a block - at some stage I was told that I should either request for my username to be changed as Lekap mag is not a valid username or that I could register with another name. Please explain to me how other magazines are listed on the magazines in South Africa page and when one clicks on their name it links through to an article page? I clearly don't understand. Regards Steve Swan (talk) 20:23, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I understand your confusion, and I am not trying to be heavy-handed. Creating another account when you are blocked is block evasion by definition; I understand that this was not your intention. The correct approach is to go to your initial account (the talk and user pages remain available to you) and there post an unblock request asking for a change of username; use {{unblock-un}}. Please also read conflict of interest policy. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:07, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification[edit]

Since there is some confusion, I'll spell it out.

  • You chose a user name initially which was the same or similar to that of a product or company, which is a clear breach of our user name policy, and used that account to write about the magazine
  • I blocked you for that reason, which is normal procedure for accounts which breach our user name rules. You had been advised that you should create a new account but had not done so at that stage
  • You created this account, but that is evading your block as described above, especially when you recreate an article in which you have a conflict of interest. You have realised that you need to follow the correct unblock procedure, rather than just create a new account
  • I won't take any part in unblock decisions, since I blocked you, and it wouldn't be fair to you. You should note, however, that it is unlikely that you will be allowed to write about your company anyway, since that is normally a condidtion of unblocking. Hi Jim - I am even more confused - I agree that I was advised to create a new account, which I duly did - but this resulted in me being blocked. Either I am not very bright or I don't understand what it means - 'create a new account'. Anyway it is what it is. Regards --Steve Swan (talk) 06:57, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
