Wikipedia:Pages That Need Expansion[edit]

I have moved this proposed project page to your user space as User:Stickulus/Pages That Need Expansion. The page is empty, and it's unlikely to be useful for the project - it duplicates existing Wikipedia processes, such as the stub notices. If you think Wikipedia needs another one, please go to requests for comment. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 05:13, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Pages Stickulus Had Made

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ttonyb (talk) 18:35, 14 May 2011 (UTC) Joe McKinney (Author)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Joe McKinney (Author), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://joemckinney.wordpress.com/about-joe-mckinney.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Speedy deletion nomination of Joe McKinney (Author)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Joe McKinney (Author) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Your request

Done See User:Stickulus/Joe McKinney (Author). We cannot allow copyvios even in user space, so I trust you will address the issues right away. Thanks.--SPhilbrickT 10:50, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, if you are successful in your effort regarding Joe McKinney, pleas note that we do not use a disambiguation page when there are only two names to distinguish. I'm about to delete the dab page, if Joe McKinney is recreated, we would use a hatnote. Let me know if you want help at that time.--SPhilbrickT 15:32, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit to McKinney

I partially fixed your ref. It did not have a title, which is one of the reasons you had an error. Usually, refs are placed in the main text, but appear in the Reference section. You had placed it in the reference section, which seems obvious, but it is sort of not right.

I say sort of, because I prefer a reference style in which most of the ref is in the reference section. I'll make the change shortly.

In the meantime, you might want to glance through Referencing for beginners--SPhilbrickT 14:18, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I converted the ref to a style called WP:LDR--SPhilbrickT 14:32, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikilinks to books You have wikilinked some of the titles of the authors books. However, those links do not go to an article about the book, but to something else.

I didn't check thoroughly, but I assume none of McKinney's books have an article yet, right?

BTW, you might be tempted to add an entry to the disambiguation (dab) page Dead City. Please do not. At such time as there may be an article about the book, it can be added, but we do not encourage red links (links to future articles) in dab pages. They are allowed in article pages.--SPhilbrickT 14:32, 25 May 2011 (UTC) Added section and ref I added a section and a ref regarding the Bram Stoker award. This will help for notability. However, it isn't there yet. Neither reference qualifies as a reliable source. The Bram Stoker award ref is a blog, which is generally not acceptable as a ref. I've included it as a placeholder; I hope you can find a better source, and I can help you form it into a proper ref.--SPhilbrickT 14:45, 25 May 2011 (UTC) ISBN You should add ISBN numbers for the books. I did one for you. When adding, all you have to do is type "ISBN" and the number, for example ISBN 978-0786023608, and Wikipedia will recognize it and convert it for you, like this ISBN 978-0786023608 Order of books[reply]

It is usual to list books in the (reverse) order of publication, or perhaps alphabetical. I don't see how the order was chosen.

Edits to Joe and next steps

I added an ISBN for The Weaponer, and corrected the ISBN for Book of Horror 2.

I'm not quite sure where you want the reference you added. I guessed at the location, but you should be able to move it if I guessed wrong, or if you can't figure out how, tell me, and tell me where it should go and I'll tell you exactly what to do.

FYI, personal information provided by the subject may seem like solid material, but it is not an accepted source (oddly, we want info which can be independently verified). In fact, it may contribute to a wp:coi.

IMO, it's a close call whether this will survive - it may be viewed as not notable. However, if you want to give it a try, let me know, and I'll move it into main space. (Or you can do the honors, but if you aren't quite sure what to do, I'll be happy to do it.)--SPhilbrickT 23:30, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done There's a little bit of cleanup to do, which I'll do. It won't show up in a search within wikipdia until tomorrow (indexes updated at midnight). --SPhilbrickT 23:39, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback

Hello, Stickulus. You have new messages at Sphilbrick's talk page.
Message added SPhilbrickT 01:39, 28 May 2011 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.[reply]

Joe McKinney Why did you blank the Joe McKinney page after you moved it? And why did you move it in the first place? You managed to break all the links pointing into Joe McKinney. And now it can only be moved back using a requested move. When are you going to start that process? Fmph (talk) 06:24, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It could only be moved back by an admin, which I did. If you think that the newly created article, which you started, has already resulted in a change in the primary encyclopedic destination for the title "Joe McKinney", please start at move discussion to move the article about the actor first. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:33, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

June 2011[edit]

  • I'm not planning to look closely at the second ref, but a source called "Stupid Celebrities Gossip" may not qualify as a reliable reference.
  • Your third ref is to the pro version of IMDB, that is not disallowed, but many people (like me) will not be able to see it. If the same information is available on the non-pro version, you should consider changing the source.
  • Frankly, it is pretty thin. Notability is not inherited, so while the marriage to Douglas should be mentioned, it does not contribute to notability. She's been involved in three films? Very thin. I would be surprised if it survived a notability debate, but I won't weight in.

Good Luck--SPhilbrickT 23:51, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Diandra Luker for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Diandra Luker is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Diandra Luker until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. AussieLegend (talk) 03:01, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Spirit of Sacrifice, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 06:00, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Diandra Luker. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you.
