Help me![edit]

Please help me with... How can I tell if I've been autoconfirmed? I know it sounds like a noob question but...well, I'm a noob, :)

TGCJKS197276 (talk) 16:08, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you click on the preferences link near the top of the page you will see one line that states which groups you are part of. If autoconfirmed is listed here then you are if not the you are not yet autoconfirmed. Amortias (T)(C) 16:29, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! Have an awesome day. :)

Ways to improve Cody Sipe[edit]

Hi, I'm Anarchyte. TGCJKS197276, thanks for creating Cody Sipe!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please fix these issues; when fixed, remove the corresponding tag.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. --Anarchyte 03:03, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Dr. Daniel M. Ritchie, Personal Trainer and Fitness Entrepreur.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. hello and a quick question?[edit]

Hello,

I noticed on this page [1] that you stated the photo of Dan Ritchie was "Sent to me personally from Daniel Ritchie". Would you happen to be doing the article on him and also the article on Cody Sipe as a paid editor? Conflict-of-interest editing on Wikipedia Please pardon the question if this is not the case, but I did not know if you were aware of the disclosure requirements here at wikipedia if an editor is doing paid editing. In any case, welcome to wikipedia. Cheers! WordSeventeen (talk) 19:49, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WordSeventeen,

Thank you for pointing this out. I wasn't aware of the policy, but with your assistance I made the appropriate citations. Again, Thanks! I'm anxious to get this figured out - I noticed several articles over on the "request for edits" page that I'd love to work on in addition to the ones that I've already contributed to. Your links for beginners was extremely helpful as well. TGCJKS197276 (talk) 00:29, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Cody Sipe, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Will they still pay you when your spam articles get deleted? Joseph2302 (talk) 21:45, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I feel as if that is a personal attack and am unsure how to respond. Perhaps you should review Wikipedia:Etiquette. Rudeness and sarcasm are never good ways to resolve issues, either personally or professionally. Are you requesting deletion of my two pages because you feel angry that I was paid for them?

Some advice[edit]

If you decide to create more articles (either paid or unpaid), I strongly recommend all new users to use the WP:AFC process. The way it works is that you submit a draft, a reviewer reviews it and suggests improvements, and this continues until it meets Wikipedia standards- from experience, articles created this way are nearly always better quality. Joseph2302 (talk) 00:40, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Joseph2302 Thank you for this advice. I was following the information that I found on the "how to create a page" page. At first I thought I was to use the sandbox, but then I found the other page. This has been an extremely confusing experience, but I'm definitely willing and eager to learn. TGCJKS197276 ([[User talk:TGCJKS197276#top|talk]]) 02:24, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Another useful page to read is WP:SIMPLECOI, the gist of which is: don't edit pages where you have a conflict of interest, suggest edits to other editors instead. Articles for Creation is in a sense of variant of this guideline. You don't publish the article, you post a suggestion to publish. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 05:27, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Dr. Daniel M. Ritchie, Personal Trainer and Fitness Entrepreur.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

Permission for image usage[edit]

Hi TGCJKS197276, on several of your uploads, you say that you have obtained permission for the usage of these images. Please forward this statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. (Submissions to this address are confidential and will not be posted publicly.) We require that a statement of permission be on file for any image that you upload where you, personally, are not the sole creator of the image. (The "sole creator" means you held the camera in your hand, aimed it at the subject, and clicked the button.) The purpose of this exercise is to ensure that we respect the rights of copyright holders. Please see WP:CONSENT for more information. --B (talk) 11:31, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you - I'll review the WP:CONSENT page then let them know what they need to do. This has been tremendously helpful and I really appreciate the assistance. By the way, am I responding to these correctly by editing the section? TGCJKS197276 (talk) 02:26, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

encouragement[edit]

Hi TGCJKS197276, I hope that you do not become discouraged upon your rocky first experience here. Please know that all of the editors here are not so judgmental, and quick to pile on, when they feel some perceived wrong needs to be righted. You were not aware of a policy, but when asked about a possible issue, you were clearly forthright and did the proper thing. When someone offers advice to you here at wikipedia, it always good to look at that person's background and time of volunteer service here before accepting it. I would encourage you to keep writing articles using the article wizard. If you ever need any assistance on some articles, or have any questions please feel free to contact me on my talk page or via email from a link there. Have a great holiday weekend. Cheers! WordSeventeen (talk) 03:45, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've struck some personal attacks directed at me. Also, I'm happy to help, I've given advice about using WP:AFC to create articles above, but I firmly believe that if articles aren't good enough for Wikipedia, then the best approach is sometimes to delete them, rather than waste hours improving them before they get deleted. Deletion pending for File:Daniel M. Ritchie.jpg[edit]

Hello, TGCJKS197276. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Daniel M. Ritchie.jpg — was tagged with {{OTRS pending}}, indicating that you (or perhaps the copyright holder if you did not create this image) submitted a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Though there is often a backlog processing messages received at this address, we should have received your message by now.

  • If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 14:31, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
