Syrian map

Hello Tubs, as creator of multiple maps on Syria, your assistance is acquired due to discussion on Syrian geography. Apparently there is a need for Syrian map with golan heights hatched version to be used in Syrian location map [1] (like here [2], but without governorate emphasis), in order to clearly represent the status of Golan area (part of Quneitra governorate officially, but occupied by Israel). Hi, I was working on Commons:Category:SVG locator maps of governorates in Syria (location map scheme). I provided different feasible solutions for the various points of view. Local users are about to decide which they go for - I can't decide. Please tell me, if you want to have yet other versions of these locator maps. I don't do location maps, though. Yemen

I won't do Yemen since the political affiliation may change quickly due to the horrible events down there. Plus, I usually base my maps on existing location maps to keep maps consistent across the board. I know. This map has issued. Borders seem to change quite often in Egypt. I guess my map was correct at the time of creation. You're not the only one to report errors though (cf. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:TUBS/spielwiese#neue_Gouvernementsgrenzen_in_%C3%84gypten). Usually I derice my maps whenever possible from existing location maps to keep those standard maps aligned. Could you plz take a look at File:Egypt adm location map.svg. Is that map correct? This is supposed to be the newest location map that would be the base of any overhaul of my maps (which however won't have top priority since I usually try to get local users to work on mere updates due to administrative changes - I can't possibly monitor all changes worldwide).--TUBS (talk) 07:24, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Far Eastern in Russia.svg

Can you edit that map and add Buryatia and Zabaykalsky Krai to the region properly? The way I did it looks and was really sloppy, as I didn't use Adobe Illustrator, using Inkscape instead. Vesperius (talk) 01:25, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

Thx for treporting this issue. I was not aware that this region was reorganized in 2018. It's difficult to keep tacks of changes. I did my maps before this change. Usually I hope that local users - to the best of their abilities - step in and keep maps updated. I simply don't have time to constantly update maps. Btw: It's not just an issue of this map. All maps in this category need to be updated to keep the map series consistent.

All that said. I won't do Russian maps currently (since 2014 really). Since 2014, Russia wages a war on its neighbor and has multiple times since 2014 annexed regions of a bordering country, incorporated them (de facto or de-jure) and has reorganized its federal subjects and regions accordingly. Thus, Russian borders are currently not stable and who knows how borders (de-jure or de-facto) will look like after this war is over. It's not so much that I want to take a political view here, but the effort of updating maps of war-torn regions with fluid borders is not justified. Thus I also never made maps showing the Russian view on Crimea (or the recently de-jure and partially de-facto annexed territories in what I'd call southern Ukraine). --TUBS (talk) 08:00, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
