Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Tahmina.tithi, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Information and communication technologies for development has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 18:59, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tahmina! Welcome to Wikipedia. I have read the brilliant article you created. Many many thanks for creating this article. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:05, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bichnakandi, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Page numbers[edit]

You recently removed a {{page needed}} template from Muslin trade in Bengal. It is good that there is a citation, but the cited book is 160 pages long, and our readers should not have to guess on which page you found the information. When an editor seeks clarification, the most constructive response is almost always to provide the clarification rather than simply removing the template. --Worldbruce (talk) 18:10, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Worldbruce, I am not sure which 160 pages book you are referring. The book that is used as a reference here is only 12 pages with 4 pages of text and the content can be easily found there. However, the page numbers are now added in reference of the article. Thanks. --tahmina.tithi (talk) 04:10, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am referring to the 160-page book you cited: Ashmore, Sonia (2012). Muslin. London: V&A Publishing. ISBN 978-1-85177-714-3.. Look it up on Google Books or get a physical copy. If you've only read a four-page sample of it, you've barely skimmed the surface. You are mistaken about The Deccan, it does not refer to Dacca (Dhaka). It is an area of central southern India that, even using the most expansive definition, is at least 600km from Dhaka. See, for example, [1]. --Worldbruce (talk) 05:40, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tahmina!

You'll get an automated message saying this soon, but I've just failed your good article nomination for Muslin trade in Bengal. One of my first GANs was failed and I was so disappointed when the reviewer didn't reach out and talk to me afterwards. The article is a really good start-- the sources you used all checked out and it seems like it's a really interesting subject. But you have to make sure that per the GAN criteria, that the article addresses the "main aspects of the topic". I think the biggest thing that would lead to a successful nomination for the article would be if you take a step back and look at the bigger picture. What was the portion of Bengal's total amount of the muslin trade, and why was it significant? What was muslin? I think the decline section is overall the best portion of it, but just make sure that the article itself is hitting all of the big notes.

Please let me know if you have any further questions about my review over on my talk page, and feel free to ping me as soon as you've updated the article. I'll be happy to throw it a review as quickly as possible! Nomader (talk) 04:41, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Muslin trade in Bengal[edit]

The article Muslin trade in Bengal you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Muslin trade in Bengal for reasons why the nomination failed. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:14, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Maktub (book) moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Maktub (book), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources to demonstrate its notability (see also, WP:NBOOK, the notability guideline for books).

I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. signed, Rosguill talk 01:28, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Maktub (book)[edit]

Hello, Tahmina.tithi. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Maktub".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Dolotta (talk) 20:50, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
