Orphaned non-free image (File:Logo Glion.jpg)[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Logo Glion.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 00:43, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You wrote "This school is no longer recruiting students and the brand is no longer existing in the Laureate company. The website is still on for a few more months but the company holding LRG University of Applied sciences does not want this brand to be active anymore, anywhere on the web. We have created this page and we now would like to remove it from Wikipedia as the brand is no longer existing for promotional purpose."

I have to tell you, As reviewing administrator, that this totally misconceives the purpose of WP. WPis an encyclopedia., a reference book of all the things that have ever been notable in the world. It is not a way to promote brands. Your admission that the article existed only for such promotion is very disturbing---this is not why an article should be written. Rather, we regard all institutions of higher education as notable, and write objective article about them based on the sources. Once they have ever been notable, they always will be: Wikipedia is a permanent historical record.

You have apparently admitted working for the Laureate company,, but it helps to be candid, and you should disclose it on your user page. . The question is now inescapable: what is the intent of the other articles on the firms colleges--are they also intended to be promotional? The distinction between informative and promotional is that an informative article includes only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia.' a promotional article includes material that would be of interest to those associated with the subject, or to prospective students-. As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know.

I shall therefore be examining all the articles, and rewriting them as I think necessary for objectivity. As for you editing , please see WP:COI; the only safe way you can edit here is by making suggestions on talk pages of articles, that those without a conflict of interest will then consider.

A formal warning follows, to make the situation clear. DGG ( talk ) 08:25, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

December 2012[edit]

Hello, Talula2009. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. DGG ( talk ) 08:26, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

constructive way of going forward=[edit]

On analysing this and the related articles, and considering the likely context of your deletion request, I think you mean the following: This is essentially a preparatory school for the other two institutions. It is intended to discontinue it as a separate institution, and conduct the first-year preparatory program as part of the other centres.

If so, the article does need to be changed, but we need to keep the information. This is an encyclopedia, and notability is permanent. We're making a record for the indefinite future. If it were being merged into a single institution,we would normally deal with it by merging the content into the article for that institution, & making a cross-reference from the earlier name. But it's very difficult to do that when parts of it are being merged into two different institutions. The only way to do this would be if the two were so closely related that they had a common name that would permit a single article for all of them, I don't see that. If you can post to the article talk page some references to the proposed reorganization, , and let me know on my own talk page, I can make the appropriate changes.
