Ads[edit]

The Wikipedia Ads template does not go in articles. It is for select Talk pages or user pages. --Laser brain (talk) 22:37, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Ana Cristina Oliveira.jpeg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Ana Cristina Oliveira.jpeg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 23:23, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

I fixed it. Techdude3331 (talk) 23:17, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Article Feedback[edit]

Hello, can you plase not set all feedbacks that just is nonsens to "Inappropriate", becuse they are not. They are just nonsens. Inappropriate would be somone swaring and so on, and not only my saying "I dont like Wikipedia" :) Okay --Simeondahl (talk) 00:15, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Like this examples:
Just rember :) --Simeondahl (talk) 00:29, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

The second one seems reasonable. It is NOT marked inappropriate Techdude3331 (talk) 02:35, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

The guidelines seem to suggest marking inappropriate for nonsense. I typically mark feedback inappropriate if it seems a user knowingly made a nonsensical request. If it's more innocent/ignorant I mark No action needed. Hoof Hearted (talk) 20:02, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Thank you! I will take that into consideration. Techdude3331 (talk) 23:17, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Techdude3331 the second one is not marked inappropriate becurse I removed it ;) Have a nice day sir. --Simeondahl (talk) 17:25, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:John Riedl.jpeg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:John Riedl.jpeg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Copyvio - The fact that the subject is deceased does not automatically release the rights of the image into the public domain

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. – Connormah (talk) 01:56, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

License tagging for File:John Pål Inderberg.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:John Pål Inderberg.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:05, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Xia Jiangbo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Xia Jiangbo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:22, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

How do I prove it? I got the images from Flikr, and it has a link on the side saying some rights reserved that links to the liscense. The source URL is where to look. Techdude3331 (talk) 13:33, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:John T Riedl.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:John T Riedl.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:51, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Article Feedback Tool update[edit]

Hey Techdude3331. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 22:00, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Faller Logo.gif.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Faller Logo.gif.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 20:27, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Zac Barnett[edit]

Hello, Techdude3331, and thank you for your contributions!

I wanted to let you know it seems an article you worked on, Zac Barnett, is copied from another Wikipedia page, Taylor Swift. It's fine to do this as long as you provide the following information in the edit summary:

  1. a link to the article you copied from
  2. the date you copied it

You can do this now by editing the page, making any minor edit to the article, and adding the above information into the edit summary.

If you're still not sure how to fix the problem, please leave a message at the help desk. It's possible that I made a mistake, so feel free to remove the tag I placed on the article.

Thanks again for helping build the free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 23:19, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

December 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm Wtmitchell. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Zac Barnett, with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 23:49, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello Sorry about that. I started by using Taylor Swift's article on Wikipedia as a template. That was me getting rid of the Taylor Swift text and I was about to replace it with my own text. I also posted this on your talk page. --Techdude3331 (talk) 23:52, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:American Authors.jpg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:American Authors.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
