Welcome![edit]

Hi Telecineguy, and let me echo the welcome to Wikipedia! I notice you've made a lot of edits to television and videotape-related articles, and I just thought I should mention WP:JARGON (ie, just remember Wikipedia is for a general audience) and WP:CAPS (Wikipedia capitalization), though by the looks of your most recent edits, you might have read these already!

As someone who obviously knows something about the tech side of things, I'd be interested on your take on two articles I started, An Evening with Fred Astaire and The Edsel Show, if you can add anything to them. If, for example, you know anything about the technical issues regarding 405-line television (and BBC One, which contains the early history of the BBC Television Service), please add it. Of course, there are lots of other articles - just follow the links or check the categories at the bottom to find those that are related.

I hope you enjoy your time here on Wikipedia! Regards, ProhibitOnions (T) 22:52, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Thank you for the reply, I will try to keep an eye on the cases and links. Telecine Guy

VTRs[edit]

  • About the IVC article, no problem, my pleasure. I suggested making a redirect previously for IVC 2" helical to IVC's main article, due to the former article (IVC 2 inch Helical scan) being a red link at the time, not being writen. Thanks for doing so, and thanks also for the info you added to the 1" type B videotape article too, interesting that there were so many modifications of that format....! :) About the VK format, I could write up an article for that as well, but you can too if you feel inclined to do so... misternuvistor 00:24, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

This is a short page, it is not honest to say "no Cited sources", when it has 7 news links for ref. for the info on the page. As you wish for now. Telecine Guy 03:42, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

It is perfectly honest to say "no sources cited" when, in fact, no (or almost no) sources are cited. The shortness of the article does not exempt it from a firm policy of Wikipedia on verifiability. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid. There are many short articles that include citations. Additionally, if it has a thousand external links and no citations, it is still uncited. Deleting files again[edit]

As to the topic at hand, it does not matter whether or not these articles have references. All of the references in question are about Whitewater. All of the articles are coatracks. This means that you're talking a single topic, Whitewater, and splitting it out into multiple articles. None of these people would ever be notable otherwise. The only reason they appeared in the references is because they were involved in Whitewater or the Ken Starr work. That is not notable. Whitewater is, of course, but we already have that article.
If you really feel you need to report this as vandalism, please, feel free! I don't think the results will be to your liking, however.

Proposed deletion of Seattle FilmWorks[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Seattle FilmWorks has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable company; no references from reliable sources offered

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Baffle gab1978 (talk) 21:26, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi again, I have nominated the article for deletion and have opened a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Seattle FilmWorks. Please feel free to share your thoughts there. Thanks, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 21:46, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I don't appreciate your undoing my attempted restoration of Double Exposure Ltd. I wrote the original article about that facility, the SFW-XL process, tied it in with ECN-2 process, and that facility is the only one I know of anywhere (I wrote in "North America" that does the full-service processing like RGB, Dale, SFW did.

I'm happy you've found some other processors, but I looked around to all of them several years before I found these guys and they basically run this old film through C-41 just with a dip-and-dunk or a Wing-Lynch.

You're basically not making a distinction between people taht are processing the film incorrectly and then just scanning it and the only still facility making an effort to utilize the proper chemistry. Further, gutting the article, and Bafflegab, who apparantly has no photographic background, leaves huge gaping holes in the section.

Material in the article for Seattle Filmworks was poorly organized, but now it is just gone. Bafflegab and the original individual (also not a photographer) who gutte the articles deleted them apparantly for good, without any discussion, along with about 100 other things when I was out of town, not watching this place.

So now all the hard work about ECN-2 processing times, temperatures, chemical components, that support my claims about the NON-interchangeability of ECN-2 and C-41 processes have been censored out.

In any case, I understand that not logged in (I can't from work) I look like a vandal, but I am actually the original author, ISOGuru of several deleted articles.

Bafflegab: You continually suggest the articles should all be deleted. Who are you to say that? What possible background do you have, as none of your contributions seem in any way related to photography, filmmaking, motion pciture film, to say one way or the other? If you were to take part in even restoring the ORIGINAL ARTICLES, a lot of the sources of information, firsthand accounts, links you complain for want of would be restored. I am using a 10 year old computer to try to prevent material from being irrevocably lost, and you care more about procedures than content. I don't consider you a qualified editor if you aren't familiar with the subject matter, frankly.

ISOGuru, you've been around Wikipedia long enough to know that it has certain standards. I have replied to you at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Double Exposure, Ltd. Laboratory and suggested which Wikipedia policies that article fails to comply with. We can discuss this there, at my talk page or at your talk page, but I'm not prepared to discuss anything further on the talk page of an uninvolved editor. It would be best if you logged in; that way your IP editing cannot be mistaken for an attempt to avoid scrutiny. Thanks, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 20:09, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Telecine guy, I'd appreciate if you could converse with me further on this. If you have further information to contribute I'd appreciate it, but I have received confirmation as to what I have said via letter and telephone (hard to cite phone calls though). I did try to be thorough in including all facilities that process this film, but, frankly, some of them just want to charge a lot of money for standard processing and are doing what any minilab could just as well do: run the film through the wrong chemistry.

This sort of misinformation does a disservice to those out there that still use ECN-2 filmstock. If you have information to additional companies, it should be added, but unless you have firsthand experience to the contrary of what I have said, I ask that you respect the information I have added and retain it, instead working to restore all the content that was deleted that referrenced the content specifically I refer to that was deleted that explained the nuances of the differences between these two color processes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.4.154.66 (talk) 22:14, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Dinesh D'Souza giving George Hussein Onyango Obama $1,000 after movie for hospital bill.

Dinesh D'Souza interviewed George Hussein Onyango Obama, the youngest half-brother of Barack Obama. George called Dinesh and asked for help, as his young son was sick and in a hospital. Dinesh sent him $1,000 to cover the medical bills. George was grateful and said: “Dinesh, you are like a brother to me.” [1]

Speedy deletion nomination of Neal Ainley[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Neal Ainley requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Proposed deletion of General Antiparticle Spectrometer[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article General Antiparticle Spectrometer has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable project. All information is self-published from those involved within the project itself.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

82nd Armored Reconnaissance Battalion[edit]

I noticed you've edited a few articles changing "82nd Armored Reconnaissance Battalion" to "82nd armored reconnaissance battalion". I thought the former version is correct as the proper name of the unit and wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything. Ocalafla (talk) 00:02, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

The article is 82nd armored reconnaissance battalion. wikipedia.org likes only the first word to be caps. The US Army should, you are correct, likes all caps. I wrote the complete 82nd armored reconnaissance battalion article. I was just fixing links that did correctly point to the correct new article. 82nd Armored Reconnaissance Battalion would be correct also. Telecine Guy 00:13, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Actually, wikipedia's Manual of Style MOS:MILTERMS says: "Formal names of military units, including armies, navies, air forces, fleets, regiments, battalions, companies, corps, and so forth, are proper names and should be capitalized." And, regarding article titles WP:LOWERCASE:"Use lowercase, except for proper names. . . .The initial letter of a title is almost always capitalized by default; otherwise, words are not capitalized unless they would be so in running text." Ocalafla (talk) 12:08, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the reply. In honesty, I just clicked on the red link to create the article. I have no feelings on it way or the other.Telecine Guy 21:08, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Would like me to fix these to all to caps?Telecine Guy 21:30, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
There is no shortage of things that need doing on Wikipedia. No need to focus on this minor point at all. Cheers! Ocalafla (talk) 23:44, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Yom[edit]

Hello, Telecineguy. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Yom, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. » nafSadh did say 22:34, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

September 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to The Red Shoes (1948 film) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Disambiguation link notification for September 12[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Breakfast at Tiffany's (film), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Paramount. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
