I'm a retired astronomer, and have been bouncing around adding or editing mostly astronomy-related articles, including adding several prominent astronomers' bios, as well as several entries related to Staten Island and a couple other things I think I know.Tham153 02:49, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Todt Hill[edit]

Thanks for the additions on Todt Hill - I lived at the top of the hill at St. Francis in the early 1970s when it was a Franscisan/Lutheran ecumenical high school - the views from the top floor are fantastic! Revmoran 20:49, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Notability of Changing The Times[edit]

A tag has been placed on Changing The Times, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 02:38, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Astronomische Nachrichten[edit]

As you originally translated this article from the German Wikipedia, I thought you might like to have a look at it now... Astronomische Nachrichten. Maybe it can be translated back again? Carcharoth 04:10, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

You've done a bang up job. I hope someone whose German is better than mine can put it into the German version. I can translate out of German, and hold brief conversations, but translating articles into German, no way! Tham153 (talk) 05:38, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! Have a look at 1356 Basel earthquake for another translation. Haven't tried to expand that yet, but there are some nice links to German sources on the talk page. Carcharoth (talk) 05:44, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Armand Spitz[edit]

Diamond-caution.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Armand Spitz, because another editor is suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Some people enjoy creating things, others get pleasure from destruction. I'm sure that whatever you think you are doing, that you are having fun.Tham153 (talk) 03:28, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

If you take a look at my userpage and the list of articles I have created I think you will be able to see which one I am doing. I take no pleasure in destruction and have often opposed those who obviously do, but I do not wish to see Wikipedia flooded with articles on individuals who have no evidential value of particular notability (which is most of us). Writing articles about yourself is not generally a good idea. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:02, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

September 2008[edit]

Information.svg Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Lorenzo Da Ponte. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Goochelaar (talk) 22:55, 14 September 2008 (UTC) What is promotional about noting a fictive use of an historical character? Would you call a mention of Jesus in the website for Christ Stopped at Eboli promotional for the book or the Catholic Church? If I ever get around to noting that Inwood Park figures in a major horror story written about 60 years ago by a long dead writer, is that promotional? Or do you just get your jollies deleting?Tham153 (talk) 23:43, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Information.svg Hello Tham153! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2,800 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Karl J. Sleight - Find sources: "Karl J. Sleight" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR · free images · wikipedia library

Proposed deletion of Casa Belvedere[edit]

320px-Icon delete w clock.svg

The article Casa Belvedere has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article fails to establish the notability of the subject. Claims nearly impossible to verify.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:30, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Well, the article survives and seems to indicate that the jackass schmuck who wanted to delete was way off base. I await seeing your abject apology, but knowing what people like you are likely to do, I won't hold my breath waiting. Hard to understand how, other than for total incompetent fools, the "claims" could be "nearly impossible to verify" if you can read.Tham153 (talk) 16:22, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Your uncivil comments are not welcome at Wikipedia. I proposed the article for deletion because there was insufficient information posted to indicate its notability at that time. Since that time, information has been added which indicates the subject's inclusion on the NRHP, which pretty much automatically indicates its notability. Had this information been in the article at the time I proposed deletion, I would not have done so, as the subject now clearly meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines.

I don't feel your reply is an apology, just an admission of inadequate research/understanding. And I do not feel my remarks were uncivil, but entirely appropriate for someone performing inappropriately and badly. Sorry, however, that you are so sensitive about being called to rights. Maybe in the future you will tryn to knoe more about what you are about to destroyTham153 (talk) 15:25, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Space reorganization[edit]

Hello WikiProject Space member! A discussion has been started regarding the future of WikiProject Space here; any comments you might have would be welcome! There are mainly two competing ideas:

  1. Centralize all the Space-related WikiProjects, such as Astronomy and Spaceflight, and merge them into WikiProject Space, or
  2. Separate the Astronomy and Spaceflight "sides" of WikiProject, and remove WikiProject Space.

If you can think of other options, that's great too. Your contribution to the discussion would be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

Hello, I'm Realkyhick. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User:Realkyhick that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed.
