Hi[edit]

Thanks for your note. I removed your email because spammers frequently scan websites for email addresses to collect. You are welcome to email me using the "E-mail this user" on the left-hand margin of my talk page. I'll be happy to help in any way I can. A word of advice, it may be useful to write something on your main page because having content there prevents your username Thameen from appearing in red and thus gives you some more credibility around here. Scorpions amongst butterflies[edit]

Dear Thameen,

Your butterfly list for Israel/Palestime contained information about Family Buthidae of Scorpions. I have shifted the Scorpions onto the talk page. You may like to create the scorpion subpage which is a red link at the moment. Please see WikiProject Arthropod for facilitated creation of arthropod articles.AshLin 02:11, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3RR violation[edit]

Sorry but the jist of a 3RR violation is 4 reverts in 24 hours, that is something that I haven't done and you have.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 16:20, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have now been blocked for 24 hours for revert warring. --InShaneee 17:56, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thameen: Thanks for your note. I'm sorry you are having problems with some pages but my advice to you is not to worry too much about propaganda pages. The page you referred to above is clearly (in my opinion) a page just meant to show Palestinians in a negative light; it has no other purpose and it's not worthy of an encyclopedic entry otherwise. I usually stay away from such articles, I consider them not worth my time. The more one-sided they are, the less encyclopedic and reliable their content will be. If you want to do anything, don't erase or modify anything, but add any relevant information to make sure that a reader has knowledge of the other perspective only. If some information is clearly wrong, then erase it and discuss in the talk page why you did so (i.e. with sources). But otherwise don't try to change or modify a word, because it's really not worth your time to edit "Palestinians are animals" type articles; they are usually self-destructive by their very existence, and you would do your reputation much more service by working on constructive articles instead of hateful destructive ones. Hope this helps. Ramallite (talk) 22:01, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How about redirecting to "Biodiversity in the holy land" - in the talk page explain that Israel does not consider the West Bank and Gaza part of it, but the wildlife you refer to is in the WB also, so Holy Land is a neutral compromise.. what do you think?
I just did it. But didn't do anything in the talk page. Ramallite (talk) 18:49, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thameen,

I simply removed a double-redirect. I didn't edit the content or the title. I understand that many of us are passionate about these topics, but we can't forget that we're all simply people building towards a common goal. We must all assume good faith towards each other. Happy editing ;-), TewfikTalk 21:11, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Thameen,
You could probably find out by examining the redirect page history, but being as no one has since disturbed Ramallite's new page, I would personally not pursue the issue. Happy editing, TewfikTalk 14:50, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3RR warning[edit]

Hello Thameen, I should notify you that you are again in danger of violating the 3RR rule on Child suicide bombers in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. If you revert again you could be blocked from editing.- Moshe Constantine Hassan Al-Silverburg | Talk 17:51, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I RV once, I reverted your vandalism of my edits. I have the right to protect my sourced and NPOV edits. --Thameen 17:57, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reversions[edit]

Well, the first step here is to assume good faith. No need to go around accusing other users of vandalism. Secondly, and more importantly, the next step is to take your changes to the talk page. Just say why you what you want to add and why, and ask for the opinion of other editors (again, please don't lash out here, just talk about the article and the content you plan to add). With any luck, you'll be able to get feedback on the other editors' concerns and hopefully reach some sort of comprimise. --InShaneee 20:33, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Child suicide bombers...[edit]

I agree with you that the section about the 21 year old should be removed, and I have done so and left an explanatory note on the talk page. For the number of suicide bombers in the first sentence, however, the source you had only listed suicide bombings up till December 2005. I'm going to look for a source that provides the current numbers, but until one is found, some sort of vague "hundreds" statement is probably appropriate. --RobthTalkCleanup? 03:42, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thameen, While I'm hardly a numismatist, I have a small collection of international coins and notes - but almost all from this last century. My curiosity about your collection is rooted more in my interest in archaeology, especially that relating to the history of Palestine. I'm intrigued as to what other substantial finds may be laying beneath the surface ;-). I'm currently studying overseas, though I spent the last couple of years in the Bait Lahm area. All the best, TewfikTalk 05:29, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thameen,

Unfortunately, I can only "study" archaeology in my free time; my resources are committed to pursuing a career in your field though :-). I was not born in Israel, though my family has dwelled in Palestine since Ottoman times. Cheers, TewfikTalk 04:37, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

just wanted to double check[edit]

are you the actual author of the images (Image:Kaaba1.jpg, Image:Kaaba2.jpg), meaning that you actually took the pictures, added the backgrounds and borders, and drew the very intricate diagram yourself? both images look like they have been scanned due to the fold on the right side of kaaba1.jpg and a similar fold on the left of kaaba2.jpg, and i'd assume that if this was the case then the copyright of the material is not owned by you. thank you. ITAQALLAH 22:30, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the best thing to do is take a look at WP:IMAGE and WP:TAG to find out what the appropriate tags for these images are. you may also need to clarify the exact source (i.e. name of book, publisher details etc.) it was obtained from and put this in the relevant image summary section. if the work you scanned it from is copyrighted, it's extremely likely that the images may not be suitable for use due to copyright laws. thank you. Unspecified source for Image:Kaaba1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kaaba1.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 15:25, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on 22 Greatest Voices in Music, by 24.92.43.153 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because 22 Greatest Voices in Music provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting 22 Greatest Voices in Music, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 01:38, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:God12345.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:God12345.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VegitaU 02:51, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article Qarmaṭ has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. File permission problem with File:Deir ghassana.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Deir ghassana.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:06, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
