Diego Costa[edit]

Hi. I saw you made some clarifications to Diego Costa that was immediately removed by an other user. I reverted him but he has re-reverted me twice (I dont want to reach 3RR) and he has now made 3 reverts (including the one on your edit) so If you want to take a look at it and you want to have your clarification done that is up to you. Dont know why he is reverting, feels like WP:OWNERSHIP. QED237 (talk) 22:02, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi. In the presentation, it is not necessary to put all the information, because they appear later in the story line. Thank you.--User:Gringoladomenega (talk) 7 March 2014 (UTC)
It's not all the information, it's barely anything more than the last edition rather than improving its grammar and syntax. Why mention two teams he was loaned to and not the third? The Almightey Drill (talk) 21:29, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
Ok, you're right.--User:Gringoladomenega (talk) 7 March 2014 (UTC)
If you say you have more experience with this editor talk to him before he gets blocked. I did not mean to threaten him but look at his history. Several warnings and for example still 4 reverts at Giovani dos Santos. He has to stop now before someone blocks him (he should already have been). QED237 (talk) 21:54, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi again. I am writing this message on behalf of User:Always Learning after he asked me to do so on my talkpage.

First of all he wants to apologize if you find his words aggressive or bigot, he just wanted to discuss. All he did at Diego Costa was to find a compromise in the intro during a content dispute and you reverting his attempt to contact you without any explanation got him confused and a bit sad why editors do that to him. He felt like the blocked editor just being reverted all the time. It would have been better if you could take a bit of your time to respond instead of immediately remove the comment without explanation.

Please respond to this message and/or original message not just remove it and try to discuss with User:Always Learning, that would mean a lot. Thank you. QED237 (talk) 20:47, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for the reply. But i sincerely hope you're not upset with me, it was not my intention, never. Thanks again for the "comeback". --AL (talk) 21:22, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the headsup, i knew about the site already, use it every now and then, 99% of the time as a link tough.

Thank you again, happy ones! --AL (talk) 00:02, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

About Maniche: 1 - no he has left as well; 2 - yes, it goes in box. I have already taken care of that, and added another ref in INT.CAREER. Cheers --AL (talk) 21:38, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Yes, my bad in the scoresheets :( Speaking of that, please: the dashes used in match results are the same than those in infobox "–", not the small ones, "-". Thanks. --AL (talk) 00:22, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Found nothing, but he has left (see this Portuguese web, useless as ref but a proof nonetheless. The names in bright in EQUIPA TÉCNICA ("Technical staff" in Portuguese) are the present ones, including the new manager Jorge Costa, the names in dull have already departed). --AL (talk) 02:41, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

March 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Walter Görlitz. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Pep Guardiola that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed. Wikipedia needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Don't ever state that I or any user "clearly lacks knowledge in the subject area". Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:39, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Pep Guardiola. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:50, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Paolo Pulici may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Diego Costa - Reply[edit]

No sir, wrong category as can be, whomever added it added it unduly. --AL (talk) 16:33, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Nobody added it, I was just asking for the guidelines on whether it should have been. Obrigado. In theory, if Costa were to move to, say PSG, would he be a "Brazilian expatriate in France" now he is Spanish? The Almightey Drill (talk) 17:21, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Good point! No, i think he would be a "SPANISH EXPATRIATES IN FRANCE"-type :) --AL (talk) 19:01, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Flappy Bird GAR[edit]

Flappy Bird, an article that you or your project may be interested in, has been nominated for an individual good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. Flappy Bird GAR 2[edit]

Hi, there are still issues that need addressing if Flappy Bird is to stay as a Good Article, and the GAR has been up for a week now. I'm happy to give you another day or two to address the raised concerns, but otherwise will be delisting the article. Thanks, Samwalton9 (talk) 17:41, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

DYK for Milan Baroš[edit]

Thanks for this contribution from me and the DYK projectVictuallers (talk) 07:31, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi there TAD, AL "speaking",

i don't know if a guideline exists, and if so what it is. I have seen players with only ONE youth year with a team given its category (example Evandro Brandão, i reverted and was re-reverted, gave up of course), my M.O. is to give the category if a players spends several years with youths. The example you showed me, i don't even know why on earth does he have an article, is being a youth international notable? I thought not.

Wish i could have been of more help, cheers --AL (talk) 20:58, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

  • And regarding the reversion you made regarding prose, i don't think we are supposed to write in the present tense in an encyclopedia, but i did not revert you of course, just saying. --AL (talk) 21:01, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

DYK for Operation Trojan Horse[edit]

Thanks for your article Victuallers (talk) 16:58, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Thiago Motta[edit]

I try to NEVER write (other than intro of course, the part where we refer to his current club status) in present tense in an encyclopedia, and we are not encouraged to do that. You reverted me, fair enough, no point in engaging in a pointless edit war, it stays your way.

Happy ones --AL (talk) 00:09, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

  • Was i unpolite? I apologize if so. --AL (talk) 01:41, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

KOKE - Teamwork[edit]

You update here and there, i try to do the same. I immediately understood the error of my ways after rolling you back, and tried to reach a compromise between your stuff and mine.

About his assists bit: PLEASE don't remove my ref about his 13 assists, it's as reliable as they get. I know, i removed yours as well, but it was because (like i said in the summary) it was merely a table and not a newspaper article. You have since reinstated it and i have to respect you and your work, so it stays. Please do the same with mine OK?

Sorry for any inconvenience, happy week --AL (talk) 14:55, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

  • Thank you for your kind words man, but i'm not the easiest type to work with as well unfortunately. About my decision? It's final, eight years was a good run methinks, and as they say in the football jargon, no one's irreplaceable ;) --AL (talk) 17:22, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

1 - sorry, i don't do those (competition final articles i mean), too much on my hand already. But there a few Portuguese users that operate on that, namely ALEXGREENE87 if i'm not mistaken, we got that covered;

2 - never was interested in that, never will be (working in a newspaper, especially a sports one, too much fanatic approaches flowing by because reporters/columnists are nothing but that, fans with a pen/mouse). Happy week --AL (talk) 17:58, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

van Gaal[edit]

WP:SOURCE states that "articles on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." WP:THIRDPARTY defines third–party as "one that is entirely independent of the subject being covered." Kingjeff (talk) 07:36, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Well could we include both sources then, to have it word-by-word and as reported by the reliable BBC? '''tAD''' (talk) 07:38, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
I went back and checked the source. I was actually thinking that both together might be good. Kingjeff (talk) 07:40, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
OK, it's good that we've reached an agreement. '''tAD''' (talk) 07:42, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Christian Stuani[edit]

Hi there TAD, AL "here",

i know it was not you that added it to storyline (i imagine, since it was anonymous) and i apologize for rolling you back, but i profit to say this is an encyclopedia, and we are not going to write about every goal Stuani or any other player scores. Even especial in Stuani's case, he's a striker so it's not "news" he scores goals.

Attentively --AL (talk) 15:30, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

You'll never believe it, I just wrote a similar thing on your page! '''tAD''' (talk) 15:31, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

I think we should leave the N.IRELAND stuff in text, the SLOVENIA one in the goal chart. Talk about your telepathy! --AL (talk) 15:33, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

I have a second version which highlights that he scored in both games, in a very quick summary. Thoughts? '''tAD''' (talk) 15:36, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Stuani was selected by manager Óscar Tabárez for the finals in Brazil. He scored in both of Uruguay's warm-up matches for the tournament, the only goal of the game against Northern Ireland[1] and the second in a 2–0 win over Slovenia.[2]
  • I'll paste that in his article, nice work, no objections from this end. --AL (talk) 15:41, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
    • Thanks, good teamwork we have. What would I ever do without you? '''tAD''' (talk) 15:47, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the kindness man. But no, my summaries are not always "all that jazz", unfortunately. Only thing i'm not totally happy with in these eight years. --AL (talk) 15:55, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Don't be disappointed! You've contributed all that football knowledge to future generations! '''tAD''' (talk) 15:57, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Of course mate, have already corrected it. Of course, as per usually, the punks will not comply to it and will merge both spells anyday now :( --AL (talk) 16:54, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

re: Januzaj[edit]

I believe it is an "infobox" error in the BBC source. If you look at "Live Text Commentary" at the bottom he came on at 73:32, had a foul at 84:51 and so on. I looked at soccerway and they also had him on at 74th. QED237 (talk) 00:26, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

I believe you. If you also look, Witsel came on in the 74th and 92nd according to the BBC, and Lukaku was subbed despite being on the bench the whole game! Sorry for my ignorance! '''tAD''' (talk) 00:28, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Apologies for erroneous rollback[edit]

Sorry about that on the "Britain First" article - looks like Salix and I jumped in to help fight the vandals at the same time and I accidentally rolled back their edit rather than that of the vandals; mea culpa. Arkady Rose (talk) 12:28, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

It's OK, I could see that you are an admin, not a vandal '''tAD''' (talk) 12:31, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
I roped in User:David Gerard to change the protection level of the page to your last edit so hopefully that'll put a stop to further vandalism. Thanks for being on the ball! Arkady Rose (talk) 12:33, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
Britain First has a pending request for indefinite semi-protection, which I believe is much healthier, as the problem here is IP vandalism, not content dispute '''tAD''' (talk) 12:36, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm not worried either way, if consensus is to take it back to semi, I have no objection at all - David Gerard (talk) 15:18, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Brazilian-born Spanish footballer[edit]

Hi, for Diego Costa, you reverted my edit of adding "Brazilian-born" to the intro. One reason I think it's helpful is that the article doesn't really make clear that he is Brazilian by birth, as it doesn't contain anything about his personal life. Also see Eduardo da Silva, where we call him a "Brazilian-born Croatian footballer". Thanks. howcheng {chat} 16:06, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

The first paragraph of his career opens with "born in Lagarto, Sergipe". '''tAD''' (talk) 16:30, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Still diverging but still working for a common goal, improving the pieces. Hang in there mate, you'll only have to put up with me for 23 more days ;) --AL (talk) 20:53, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Could not care less how they fare to be honest, national teams are nothing but football clubs with the flag inserted in the jersey, and i don't support any clubs (a little sympathy for Athletic Bilbao that is all) so... That's just my humble opinion --AL (talk) 20:58, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

I'll try not to get too hyped up. Don't hesitate to ask if you need wikiassistance. --AL (talk) 21:07, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

  • Have already reinstated 99,99999999% of your storyline (sans the overlinking of Postiga), and in Éder's case it makes some sense to write that, thus my sincere apologies. But, in WP, game-by-game storyline is highly discouraged so, if Éder plays in the third game don't mention it, unless he scores of course!

Sorry for any inconvenience --AL (talk) 12:11, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

  • Yes, was about to tell you that (without the source however), but you beat me to it. If you remove the game from the chart and the box, you won't be wrong of course (not the first time Equatorial Guinea has been involved in these situations, no sir), so be my guest.

One request: please leave the INT.GOALS chart (by the way i tidied up the STATISTICS chart, it looks shabby but it's just that the CLUB part is still empty!) in the INT.CAREER section, it's not a statistic per se as it contains various elements (venue, opponent, etc).

Cheerio --AL (talk) 00:23, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

José Claramunt - Reply[edit]

I'm not promising anything as far as the flagicon goes (i'm very "thick" when it comes to technicalities!), but i'll have a look at the article the latest Sunday evening.

Cheers --AL (talk) 20:49, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

  • I replied wrong (but then corrected it immediately upon seeing the red link) without any "hidden agenda", José, Josep, they're both good. --AL (talk) 20:54, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

No. For what it's worth, Guardiola should never have been moved as well, JOSEP GUARDIOLA was 100% correct in my view, why not move José Mourinho to ZÉ MOURINHO? Don't worry, JOSEP CLARAMUNT is 100% correct. --AL (talk) 20:59, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Cleanup finished (i see you have already taken care of the flagicons "thingy", kudos), i have replaced some sources with real ones (replaced with newspaper articles, stuff like EU-FOOTBALL should be a mere link or a ref for a chart of national team statistics, at best). I deduce your "giving" him 29 caps was a typo, he has 23 per all available sources and then some.

Happy week --AL (talk) 00:39, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

  • I'll have a look at his brother, tomorrow. --AL (talk) 01:22, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the refreshing beverage! Bottoms up, cheers (by the way, E. Claramunt's page also improved, to the best of my abilities, hopefully you and WP will both like it)!! --AL (talk) 14:33, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi there TAD, how's it going?

Do you think the new PERSONAL section i created needs some "grammatical drilling"? I have my doubts about some words, after all i "speek" "gud" "Inglish" but you speak better :)
