Help desk question[edit]

See my late reply to your question:

You may be interested in Appropedia, which is a wiki running the same MediaWiki software that powers Wikipedia, but it allows original work and a much wider range of content about environmental topics than Wikipedia. Plus you can write advocacy material on Appropedia which would violate Wikipedia's WP:NPOV policy. See appropedia:Transwikiing for instructions on how to move content from Appropedia to Wikipedia if it turns out to be encyclopedic when you have developed it there. --Teratornis (talk) 03:44, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

Please read WP:EL, WP:NOTLINKFARM, WP:SPAMHOLE, and WP:ADVOCACY. Adding external links to articles tends not to be an effective way to improve articles. A more effective way to add material to articles is to write content as prose, and use footnotes to cite reliable published sources (which are preferably independent of the subject, such as reputable news articles). Note that another user reverted at least one of the links you added. I personally believe the threat from climate change is real, and The Constitution is not a suicide pact, but on Wikipedia we have to work within the rules. As you can see from our {{Global warming}} articles, there is no problem getting well-sourced facts onto Wikipedia, but adding them in the wrong way just leads other users to revert them. Let me know if you have any questions. See Help:Talk page and Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines to learn how users communicate with each other here. It's probably different than what you have used before. --Teratornis (talk) 04:12, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Interwiki linking[edit]

See Help:Interwiki linking for instructions on how to link to some other wikis from Wikipedia with a compact syntax. For example, here is a link to Appropedia your user page:

From Appropedia, you can link back to Wikipedia with the Wikipedia: interwiki prefix, for example:

  • [[Wikipedia:User:The Ent]]

Also, it is inadvisable to display your email address on your user page. This will attract spambots (web scraper programs that harvest email addresses for spammers). Instead you can set your Special:Preferences to enable other users to email you from the wiki, without exposing your address. See WP:EMAIL. --Teratornis (talk) 19:06, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you already enabled email on your Wikipedia account. --Teratornis (talk) 19:09, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Which means it is not necessary to display your email address here. Visitors to your page will see an E-mail this user link in the toolbox to the left. If that is not obvious enough by itself, you could replace your literal email address with something like: Send me an email. --Teratornis (talk) 19:13, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Investment page[edit]

I removed "Green Investment" from types of "Types of Investment" category of the Investment wiki page. Green Investment is not a type of investment. Rather it is a sector to invest in, like biotech, or energy, or gold. A type of investment would be an equity, bond, currency, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.166.19.100 (talk) 15:45, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reforestation[edit]

Hi, I've been working on the restructuring of the citation/reference sections in the Reforestation article, according to Article Blamer, you're responsible for the B.W., Time Magazine, 2007 reference. I don't know what exactly that refers to as it wasn't placed in the reference section- would you be able to correct it or link me to what your source was for that? I want to keep the material it sources as it adds to the article, but not at the expense of having it unreferenced. Thanks. Minnecologies (talk) 00:46, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bioenergy related article might be deleted need help/advice[edit]

Hi. I created an article about MHG Systems, a company that is making software for Bioenergy and Forestry industries. One experienced user has claimed, that the article is not notable enough - could you express your opinion as a person interested in forestry in the Article discussion page[1] about the notability of the links? Or may be give some advice on how to save the article? Rpisarenko (talk) 14:53, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
