I need some help please, Illinois gubernatorial election, 2010[edit]

Sorry to bother you, but you have been helpful in the past, and I was hoping you could help me now. I'm having a problem with a user removing referenced information, without cause from the article Illinois gubernatorial election, 2010. There is two sections of information which a user User talk:GageSkidmore has repeatedly removed without explaining why or discussing it on the talk page and it appears to me that these edits have been done out of a personal bias. The first issue involves the listing of Rich Whitney in the polling table currently there are three polls listed and one of the three specifically lists Whitney, I believe that this merits his inclusion as a separate candidate listed in the polling table rather then lumped in the other column, the other user does not agree. No other user has objected to his inclusion and the user never responded to my message at his talk page or on the articles talk page. The second issue involves how the candidate Rich Whitney is listed in the article. In Illinois there are three legally established political parties that have primary elections the Republican, Democratic, and Green Parties. There had been a green primary section until the user removed it and added whitney to the other candidates in a third party/independents section. Whitney unlike the other candidates in the third party/independents section is already on the November ballot. The Primary section had referenced information relating to the number of votes he received and the fact that he ran unopposed in the primary. In light of these facts I see no reason why he keeps removing this material unless it is out of a personal POV bias, I could use some help dealing with this user and the article thank you for your consideration

Comments invited[edit]

As an occasional or frequent contributor to the Republican Party (United States) presidential primaries, 2012 article, your participation in this discussion would be welcome and appreciated. Thanks.--JayJasper (talk) 19:42, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Animal_I_Have_Become.ogg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Animal_I_Have_Become.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 03:33, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted[edit]

Redaktor Wikipedia 600px.png

You have been granted the 'reviewer' userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. –xenotalk 13:33, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Hero of War.ogg[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Hero of War.ogg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. KrakatoaKatie 04:51, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

This file was tagged seven days ago for speedy deletion, but it appears you were not notified and no notice was put into the article to which it links. As a courtesy to an active contributor and to a good article, I have reset the time period to begin today. After seven days, the file may be deleted with no further notice. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. :-) - KrakatoaKatie 04:51, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the notification. I personally think adding another list as a rationale is redundant because terms of use are listed in the licensing template, but I've added it. Timmeh 22:22, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Re-Education (Through Labor).ogg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Re-Education (Through Labor).ogg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre[edit]

Good Article Recruitment - Completion Award.png
Hello! Now, some of you might have already received a similar message a little while ago regarding the Recruitment Centre, so if you have, there is no need to read the rest of this. This message is directed to users who have reviewed over 15 Good article nominations and are not part of WikiProject Good articles (the first message I sent out went to only WikiProject members).

So for those who haven't heard about the Recruitment Centre yet, you may be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around it (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:

  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with (at the time this message was sent out, 2 recruiters have volunteered), the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

Collaboration of Punks[edit]

Ramones Toronto 1976.jpg
Johnny-Ramone 1977.jpg
HEY HO, LET'S GO!!!

Punk rockers—As you know, the Ramones are undeniably the first punk rock band, so it is vital to this genre that we collaborate to improve their scope! So far, I have worked on the band's first three albums, and it would be awesome if all the punks on Wiki would aid in expanding/cleaning the Ramones articles. You can see my progress here.
Please fellow fans, do this for the old-school punk.
