My apologies for blundering on WP:Wikipedia games. When I checked Special:WhatLinksHere/User:Titusfox/Chessy and saw your challenge on User talk:Bluecollarchessplayer#I Challenge You!, I thought I might have stepped into a private game. I now realize that it wasn't, and that I should have checked with you before assuming anything. Also, just thinking, you might want to join WikiProject Chess? Explaining[edit]

I patrolled your page. I went through the enormously-backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that your page was okay: not spam, not an attack page, not a copyright violation, not any of the other reasons for which I would delete someone's page without asking. Then I clicked "patrolled" to remove it from the list of "pages that have not yet been patrolled", and moved on to the next entry. That's all. DS (talk) 16:30, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

Blocked vs Banned[edit]

Please do not add the "banned user" template to the pages of users who are not banned, as you did here. A block is not a ban. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:08, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Please be more careful while reviewing pending changes[edit]

I noticed that you accepted this pending change on the Slaughterhouse (group) article. This edit introduced a factual error; no "Slake" is known to be a part of this group. I have reverted the change for now, but please be more careful while reviewing pending changes the next time. You may also want to read Wikipedia:Reviewing#General criteria. Happy editing. Thanks Smtchahal,

I did not know anything about the topic and thought there was a member of said group. Maybe I should be more careful... Regards, TitusFox 17:11, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Your Arbitration clerk application[edit]

Hi Titusfox, thank you for applying to become an Arbitration clerk. At this time we believe you don't have enough the amount of on-wiki experience needed to show us how you would handle some of the difficult and in some cases unpleasant and sensitive situations which Arbitration clerks need to deal with. I encourage you to continue gaining experience with Wikipedia and apply again when you have a few thousand edits. Again, thank you for your interest. Ok, Thanks Callanecc! TitusFox 20:36, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Marsden edit re modeling[edit]

This is the message regarding the removal of the modeling claim from marsden's page. I didn't know how to cite the removal because I removed it for lack of citation. This is the explanation of the edit :

Modeling claims

This bio page shows a better citation is needed for Marsden's claim to be a former print and runway model. The current citation is from a bio blurb she herself provided to "specialistspeakers.com" There is no proper citation available because Marsden has never been employed as a print or runway model. There is zero evidence supporting her claim. No print ads featuring her and no runway credits.

Marsden has a variety of photographs taken of her posing in skimpy clothes that were taken by a David Anthony in 1994 when Marsden was 19-20 years old. She used these photographs as part of her harassment of Coach Donnelly at Simon Fraser University in 1994-1995. Donnelly released a few of the pictures to the press during the controversy and Marsden has featured a lot of them on her own websites.

“Last week, Donnelly released e-mail he says Marsden sent offering him sexual favors, as well as photos of her in modelling poses.Photographer David Anthony said this week he took the pictures about three years ago. He said Marsden told him she was interested in someone who didn’t seem to reciprocate the romantic feelings. “She made a comment that maybe these photos would help her get the person,” said Anthony, who added that Marsden appeared to be joking.” (Vancouver Sun: June 6, 1997 Kitchener Record: June 6, 1997: University defends firing coach who skipped hearing) http://bucketsdata.wordpress.com/1997/06/06/kitchener-record-june-6-1997-university-defends-firing-coach-who-skipped-hearing/

She has second set of photographs (see imitation leather suit photos) taken by a Ken Villeneuve, who is a self described “pervert” photographer who advertises his services on Model Mayhem. This is his own description of himself from Model Mayhem "over the hill, overweight, pervy shutter monkey at your service. Will work for peanuts, (the salted in the shell kind), and beer. Satisfaction guaranteed. I shoot implied nudes with my implied camera. Burp..." SEE http://www.modelmayhem.com/65265

Lots of young women have pictures taken of themselves hoping to become a model. They even sign up for modeling classes. They might even do a free "runway" event at the local mall. That is not professional modeling. Marsden does not have professional modeling credentials. I recommend the reference to a nonexistent modeling career be deleted. CammieD (talk) 16:22, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

I didn't put this on her bio page because I didn't want it to look like an attack page CammieD (talk) 17:15, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 March newsletter[edit]

A quick update as we are half way through round two of this year's competition. WikiCup newcomer Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) (Pool E) leads, having produced a massive set of featured pictures for Silver certificate (United States), an article also brought to featured list status. Former finalist Oh, better far to live and die / Under the brave black flag I fly... Adam Cuerden (submissions) (Pool G) is in second, which he owes mostly to his work with historical images, including a number of images from Urania's Mirror, an article also brought to good status. 2010 champion (Pool C) is third overall, thanks to contributions relating to naval history, including the newly featured Japanese battleship Nagato. Rhodesia Cliftonian (submissions), who currently leads Pool A and is sixth overall, takes the title for the highest scoring individual article of the competition so far, with the top importance featured article Ian Smith.

With 26 people having already scored over 100 points, it is likely that well over 100 points will be needed to secure a place in round 3. Recent years have required 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) and 100 (2010). Remember that only 64 will progress to round 3 at the end of April. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page; if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! It really was nothing. If you feel the content worthwhile I won't object to you restoring it. I was just clicking along with STiki and saw no source given. I in no way meant to imply anything but good faith, but the features of games are usually discussed in the sources and I'm not a big fan of crystal balling. Again though it is really nothing.
I don't understand your comment on my talk page, "Perms" eh? "first" before what? Twinkle gives me all the rollback I need. I have no interest in adminship, for one I freely admit I have a POV (I think all editors do) and for another my passion in contention makes me a poor candidate. As for reviewer, I don't know if I have the focused energy over time. Best wishes and happy editing. - - MrBill3 (talk) 13:32, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 April newsletter[edit]

Round 3 of the 2014 WikiCup has just begun; 32 competitors remain. Pool G's Oh, better far to live and die / Under the brave black flag I fly... Adam Cuerden (submissions) was Round 2's highest scorer, with a large number of featured picture credits. In March/April, he restored star charts from Urania's Mirror, lithographs of various warships (such as SMS Gefion) and assorted other historical media. Second overall was Pool E's Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions), whose featured list Silver certificate (United States) contains dozens of scans of banknotes recently promoted to featured picture status. Third was Pool G's United States ChrisGualtieri (submissions) who has produced a large number of good articles, many, including Falkner Island, on Connecticut-related topics. Other successful participants included Rhodesia Cliftonian (submissions), who saw three articles (including the top-importance Ian Smith) through featured article candidacies, and Washington, D.C. Caponer (submissions), who saw three lists (including the beautifully-illustrated list of plantations in West Virginia) through featured list candidacies. High-importance good articles promoted this round include narwhal from Canada Reid, iain james (submissions), tiger from Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and The Lion King from Minas Gerais Igordebraga (submissions). We also saw our first featured topic points of the competition, awarded to Nepal Czar (submissions) and Indiana Red Phoenix (submissions) for their work on the Sega Genesis topic. No points have been claimed so far for good topics or featured portals.

192 was our lowest qualifying score, again showing that this WikiCup is the most competitive ever. In previous years, 123 (2013), 65 (2012), 41 (2011) or 100 (2010) secured a place in Round 3. Pool H was the strongest performer, with all but one of its members advancing, while only the two highest scorers in Pools G and F advanced. At the end of June, 16 users will advance into the semi-finals. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Hi Titusfox,

I would just like to inform you that the WikiProject Good Article Recruitment Centre project has been but on hold until further notice. The decision comes after it was noticed that there was a lack of commitment from some of our recruiters as well as the recruitees. We will be working on revising to the program in order to make it more efficient and productive so we can teach user interested in reviewing Good Article nominations better.

I am telling you this because I see that you have added your name to the waiting list. If you are still interested in being recruited at some point in the future, please leave your name on the list, however, if you are no longer interested, I ask you to remove it or contact me on my talk page. Thank-you.--Dom497 (talk) 20:15, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 June newsletter[edit]

After an extremely close race, Round 3 is over. 244 points secured a place in Round 4, which is comparable to previous years- 321 was required in 2013, while 243 points were needed in 2012. Pool C's Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) was the round's highest scorer, mostly due to a 32 featured pictures, including both scans and photographs. Also from Pool C, Scotland Casliber (submissions) finished second overall, claiming three featured articles, including the high-importance Grus (constellation). Third place was Pool B's , whose contributions included featured articles Russian battleship Poltava (1894) and Russian battleship Peresvet. Pool C saw the highest number of participants advance, with six out of eight making it to the next round.

The round saw this year's first featured portal, with Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions) taking Portal:Literature to featured status. The round also saw the first good topic points, thanks to Florida 12george1 (submissions) and the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. This means that all content types have been claimed this year. Other contributions of note this round include a featured topic on Maya Angelou's autobiographies from Idaho Figureskatingfan (submissions), a good article on the noted Czech footballer Tomáš Rosický from Bartošovice v Orlických horách Cloudz679 (submissions) and a now-featured video game screenshot, freely released due to the efforts of Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions).

The judges would like to remind participants to update submission pages promptly. This means that content can be checked, and allows those following the competition (including those participating) to keep track of scores effectively. This round has seen discussion about various aspects of the WikiCup's rules and procedures. Those interested in the competition can be assured that formal discussions about how next year's competition will work will be opened shortly, and all are welcome to voice their views then. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.
