'Paranormal Psychology and Mystics of the Catholic Church
[edit] November 6, 2007 A.D.
[edit] Introduction
Parapsychology is considered the study of paranormal psychological (PNP) phenomena such as psychokinesis, extra-sensory perception, and survival of consciousness after death, but does not include all paranormal psychological phenomena (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/category:parapsychology).
[edit] The Methods of Reporting Paranormal Psychological Phenomena
Reporting paranormal psychological (PNP) phenomena has an investigative process. The medical and parapsychological field use research, experimental science, tests for levels of significance, metal-analyses, and computer-based applications. The Catholic Church teaches on the "Communion of Saints" and its tradition of veneration. This is considered a "method". The medical field and parapsychological field use the "scientific method". The Catholic Church uses the "canonization method". The "canonization method" is a systematic examination by the Church into worthiness of a candidate to be raised to the alters and venerated as a "saint" (Bunson, Bunson, & Bunson, 1998). The "canonization method" is an Earthly decision and has nothing to do with actual entry into heaven (Bunson, Bunson, & Bunson, 1998).
Saints are "human beings" that show genuine heroism, perseverance, endurance, and loyalty and are rich or poor, titled or unknown, living on every continent in all of the ages of the Christian era in the world (Bunson, Bunson, & Bunson, 1998). St. Thomas Aquinas would be considered a "paranormal psycholgist" in 2007 A.D. because of his study of "angel beings" for the Catholic Church. In 1567, St. Thomas Aquinas was declared an "Offical Doctor of the Catholic Church". Because he does not have a 2007 A.D. psychologist license, he would be considered an "unoffical paranormal psychologist".
[edit] Magic and Mystics
The Study of paranormal psychology (PNP) includes magic and mystics because of the definitions of magic that describe supernatural and spiritual aspects. The New Unger's Bible Dictionary (1988) states the words magic and magician come from the Hebrew "heret", to "engrave", and so to "draw magical lines or circles", the art or science of working wonders beyond the ordinary powers of man. According to The New Unger's Bible Dictionary (1988) magic may be divided into two classes: (1) Natural or Scientific and (2) Supernatural or Spiritual.
The natural or scientific is the knowledge of the mode in which nature acted, all natural deals with "atoms" and requires moral and intellectual preparation. The supernatural and spiritual relies entirely on the power of "spiritual beings" (The New Unger's Bible Dictionary, 1988).
Many including the medical field use the words magic and magicians to describe the aforementioned phenomena, the Catholic Church has mystics, 44 of them are considered "Offical Mystics of the Catholic Church", that includes their lives, accomplishments, and writings. [1]
[edit] Conclusion
In conclusion, the medical field and PNP recognize "aura reading" for medical use and diagnosis and is considered apart of another PNP phomena, "medical intuition". Many books are written about the power of suggestion and thought, in PNP terms this is hypnosis, regression hypnosis, and telepathy.

[edit] Leadership and Religion
[edit] Introduction
Gareth Morgan, Peter Senge, and Eric Trist have an idea that organizations are "Living Systems" (KLeiner, 2007). The Church is an organization and "A Living System" for the "Living God".
[edit] The Building Up Of Community
Many religions have practices. The term constellation refers to a grouping of stellar objects that are seen as a configuration even though they may not be particularly close to one another, of the same kind or of the same size (Wenger, 1998). This concept can be seen as multiculturalism for people. The reasons for forming constellations by communities of practice are:
| Reasons For Constellations | Generalized To The Church | Individual's Contribution Or Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| (1) Sharing Historical Roots, (2) Having Related Enterprises, (3) Serving a Cause Or Belonging To An Institution, and (4)Facing Similar Conditions. | (1) Jesus Christ, (2) Sharing The Gospel Of Jesus Christ, (3) The Church, and (4) The Faith | (1) Common Good, (2) Community Interaction, (3) Leadership Opportunity, (4) Knowing We Are Not Alone. |
| (5) Having Members In Common, (6) Sharing Artifacts, (7) Having Geographical Relations Of Proximity Or Interaction, (8) Having Overlapping Styles Or Discourses, and (9) Competing For The Same Resources. | (5) Church Members, (6) Sacred Writings And Art, (7) Building Locations, (8) Church Rule, and (9) Souls For God. | (5) Support, (6) Education And Culture, (7) Opportunities For Support, (8) Order, And (9) Missionary Work (Wenger, 1998). |
This causes a single community of practice. An example is the United States of America and "The Melting Pot" theory turning into "The Mosaic" theory. The "sharing", "having", "serving", "facing", and "competing". We no longer give up our old heritage to belong. With our interactions we now bring culture with us, to "share" with others, "serving" in charity, "facing" our differences, and "competing" through ecomics.
This mosiac view may make it more difficult to see the identity of the country, as many churches have their own practices, it may make it difficult from church to church to see the "Identity" of the church.
[edit] The Building Up Of Identity
Milton and Westphal (2005) see a postive association between identity confirmation-based networks and cooperation and performance in work groups.Identity confirmation is to the extent that others in a group support them, whether personal ( based on individual characteristics or abilities) or social (based on membership in categories of people or roles)(Milton and Westphal, 2005).
The church has a social identity that allows member to bring personal identity (freewill). As members of the social church identity, how well do we promote the development of positive associations for personal and social confirmation.
There are three dimensions of translating passions into something useful:
| The Key Domain | The Key Community | The Key Practice |
|---|---|---|
| The Community | Networking | Common Knowledge Needs |
| The Issue it faces is defining the scope of the domain in a way that elicits the heartfelt interests of members and aligns with important issues for the orgazination as a whole | The Issue is finding people who already network on the topic and helping them to imagine how increased networking and knowledge sharing could be valuable | The Issue is identifying common knowledge needs (Wenger, 2002). |
Holt, Armenakis, Feild, & Harris, (2007), discuss the readiness for multideminsional organizational change. The church may say "what change?" How we interact with people, "The World". We are in the world and "not of the world", the way we interact with youth guides the future leadership of the world. The youth now are more mature, have more knowledge due to the internet and other media access, and want people to expain issues and concepts that most do not want to talk about.
An example is when "sex education" entered the school system. Parents did not want to discuss this so local government put it in the schools. These youth will one day become adults. I would like them to become "responsible adults".
[edit] Conclusion
In conclusion, the "Living System" of the church is an organization that builds the community and identity by the way of constellations that are generalized to the church and allow individual contribution and benefit. This organization also translates passions into something useful, using the community, networking, and common knowledge needs.
