Proposed deletion of Edward Sanchez[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Edward Sanchez, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. hateless 07:06, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:MotlantheGovernment requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

AfD nomination of Ladino Wikipedia[edit]

I have nominated Ladino Wikipedia, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ladino Wikipedia. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. rootology (C)(T) 06:07, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What were you thinking?[edit]

Please respond at Talk:Community college. If you don't explain why you did that, I will countermand your edits shortly.

For an example of why articles SHOULD NOT BE SPLIT unless you understand exactly what you are doing, please compare Law school in the United States to Law school and Legal education and Legal education in the United States (you will notice on the talk pages that I opposed the splits). No one has the time, energy, or interest to reconcile these articles so we're stuck with this mess! --Coolcaesar (talk) 07:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template question[edit]

Hello, Toussaint. I noticed that Template:Wes Craven, which you started, was not working correctly at article pages like A Nightmare on Elm Street. (If you look at the bottom, the template has a red "v", and does not link to the correct template. I attempted to fix this by making the "name" part of the template match the name of the template, but this does not seem to have fixed the problem. I am pretty new here, so I don't know how these things work exactly. Can you see what the problem is? Barliman Butterbur (talk) 22:32, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, it is working now. Maybe it just took some time for the server to catch up. Barliman Butterbur (talk) 22:49, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, but I just redirected the redlink to the proper template name, although I wonder exactly what made the Wes Craven template link to "Wes Craven Films" in that one film's article, since I didn't ever put the "Wes Craven Films" name in the "Wes Craven" template syntax for starters. Kinda weird how that worked out. --Toussaint (talk) 22:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Niger[edit]

Do you have a ref for Hausa being an OFFICIAL language of Niger? If so please add a footnote for this. Thanks T L Miles (talk) 00:29, 21 October 2008 (UTC) It's a "national language", as indicated by the article on the Hausa language. I made sure to include that in my edit of the Niger article, as I don't see another visible way to add this mention of Hausa as a national language, rather than as an official language (there's a difference between "official" and "national", it seems). --Toussaint (talk) 00:56, 21 October 2008 (UTC) That seems reasonable, but the problem with putting this in the info box is that there are at least four other "National Languages" by this definition (and perhaps more). Niger is ~ %40 Hausa identified, and while Hausa is a urban language of cultural importance across West Africa, the state of Niger has in the past been identified with the Djerma/Songhai people who live in the area of Niamey, and contains a number of large, somewhat co-equal ethnic groups, each with a regional base and each with their own languages. To list Hausa as a national language alone is misleading, and either all these national languages should be listed or none. I have heard folks argue that Hausa WILL become the lingua franca to replace (ironically enough) French in the future, but to argue this would need something to back it up.[reply]

Could we either add all the national languages or come up with a Languages of Niger section for this to live in? Respect T L Miles (talk) 18:18, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of LuluTV[edit]

A tag has been placed on LuluTV requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TNX-Man 16:37, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Americans of Israeli descent, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Americans of Israeli descent has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Americans of Israeli descent, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Category:Fictional characters on the autistic spectrum[edit]

Most of the entries do not have sources in their articles supporting inclusion. (With at least some being primary source interpretation, which makes it WP:OR.)

As has been done with quite a few other similar categories, let's merge this to a list. List of fictional characters on the autistic spectrum handles this much better, and allows for the application of the term to each character to be explained, clarified, and sourced. - jc37 13:16, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of History of KHTML and WebKit[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article History of KHTML and WebKit, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Mayors?[edit]

Hi, Toussaint! I notice you recently created Category:LGBT mayors. Just curious - my first instinct is to nominate it for AfD, since I don't see much of a defining characteristic that distinguishes a Lesbian mayor from other Lesbian politicians. Are you splitting the cat off because of size? Or is there an article LGBT mayors? Or is there another reason to split it out that I'm not aware of? Thanks! Happy editing! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 05:55, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I created this category as an adjunct, per se, to the Category:LGBT politicians to distinguish mayors of LGBT orientations in a similar manner to how Category:Women mayors is an adjunct to Category:Women in politics. --Toussaint (talk) 08:56, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hm - I understand what you're getting at. But Category:Women in politics is a huge category split into almost 50 subcategories. Category:LGBT politicians should properly be split into specific sexualities (i.e. Category:Lesbian politicians) rather than splitting by type of politician. There's been some discussion about splitting categories in this manner at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject LGBT studies/Categories. We'd love your input there. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 07:16, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I'm a bit concerned by the Category:LGBT politicians by country category. First, it seems a lot like a duplication of Category:LGBT politicians. Second, it's working at cross-purposes to the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject LGBT studies/Categories. Could you check in a little bit so that people are working together rather than against each other? Because I'm very happy to see you participating and being a part of the encyclopedia - thanks for your work! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 17:16, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IRC footer templates[edit]

I noticed you created a new template named {{IRC topics}}. Were you planning to use it on multiple articles? I'm currently in the process of designing and merging new footer templates for the Internet Relay Chat articles and didn't want to end up duplicating any work. The plan is to transclude another template (I'll likely use the {{IRC footer}} template) from within the current footer templates (which can now be found in Internet Relay Chat templates). Tothwolf (talk) 02:27, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, you can merge/redirect into either/or template. Didn't know that you made a footer template beforehand, so it might be a good idea to merge mine into yours. Thanks. --Toussaint (talk) 03:38, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We've got a number of templates currently in use. The existing templates that are transcluded from the articles will transclude a common template. I finished migrating the remaining articles from {{IRC footer}} to the category specific templates yesterday to get them ready. I also cleaned up the existing standalone templates as an interim measure to improve navigation. Tothwolf (talk) 04:05, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like I already had most of the articles you had in {{IRC topics}} covered but I've reused the {{IRC topics}} namespace to transclude {{IRC footer|topics}} for general purpose use in the IRC articles. Tothwolf (talk) 03:17, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MDC articles[edit]

Hi. Seeing that you have contributed regularly to the Movement for Democratic Change article, I am notifying you that I have now split it into:

  1. Movement for Democratic Change (pre-2005)
  2. Movement for Democratic Change – Tsvangirai
  3. Movement for Democratic Change – Mutambara
  4. Movement for Democratic Change - as a disambiguation page

I think this better reflects the current political dispensation and avoids confusion from readers new to the topic, as discussed on the talk page. So far, all that has been done is redistributing the existing text between the three articles, copyediting and (some) link-fixing in other articles. I'd appreciate it, if you have time, for you to take a look at the three articles for any mistakes I have made, plus naturally to continue imporving the article. Thanks. Defunct Israeli political parties[edit]

I just don't think it works, regardless of what else is out there (and WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS!). The main reasons are:

  1. Other than being defunct and Israeli, there is nothing else to link them, unlike the current parties template, all of which co-exist in the current Knesset. I think the list and category are sufficient to link them.
  2. It includes three different types; proper parties which were elected to the Knesset, proper parties that were never elected (and some of which probably had fewer than a couple of hundred members), and Knesset factions, which were not really parties as such.

Regards, пﮟოьεԻ 57 19:56, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So should the defunct template be limited only to non-faction parties which have had Knesset representation? --Toussaint (talk) 20:35, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Toussaint,

Thank you for creating Template:Canada topic; I've found it really helpful. A tag has been placed on List of CSS frameworks, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. Proposed deletion of Community distribution[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Community distribution, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Neologism with insufficient established usage in reliable third-party sources

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Mexican Drug War[edit]

Thank you for creating the Template:Mexican Drug War! It brings all related articles together so I don't have to keep a watch for the "See also" sections. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 23:47, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Senegalese, thanks for your edit, but no thanks...[edit]

Hello, i'm new here but could you please read WP:RECENTISM and WP:UNDUE. Don't cite the BBC just because your all hot and bothered after reading something new, please cite S C H O L A R Y sources. You basically copied the BBC news item and probably never heard of the Senegalese Tirailleurs before. How about actually DOING some REAL research instead? I know that would be much more appreciated by all of us.

This will help you get started http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Colonial-Conscripts/Echenberg-Myron-Echenberg-Myron/e/9780435080525/ http://www.blackpast.org/?q=gah/tirailleurs-senegalais

Hi there- saw that you started the Exilarchy article, and I was wondering if you have a reference for the term being used for anything other than Jewish Exilarchs. I don't find the word listed at dictionary.com as a form of government, and I can't find anywhere on the web where Tibet is so identified- at least that doesn't seem to originate with Wikipedia. --Clay Collier (talk) 16:51, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Information about past South African Ministers of Home Affairs[edit]

Hi there. Do you remember where you got your information from when you created {{SouthAfricaHomeMinisters}}? I want to fill out the table on Minister of Home Affairs (South Africa) with pre-1994 ministers but I need to find the dates (well, years) of their terms. Thanks! - htonl (talk) 20:49, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much! That's quite a useful site. - htonl (talk) 21:26, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cartoon Network navbox unification[edit]

Appreciate the work you put in to unify and expand the two Cartoon Network navboxes but going in and changing it without explaining why or discussing how it'd be done was greatly bold but also was done a bit errantly. Not saying we won't use it as we most likely will given a few tweaks but can you make your case at the Wikiproject talkpage and see if a small time consensus can be reached? Thanks, it's a good job but one nobody knew was going to be done. treelo radda 09:16, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
