Zero Energy Design - invalid speedy deletion

I've gone through this before, and now it comes up yet again. Is this going to go on forever? I formally submitted the CCA statement about use of copyrighted material to Wikipedia. It is NOT in violation! You have to explain to me how Zero Energy Design is any more of an advertisement than the peacock-term entry for Texas Instruments, and many other articles about corporations. Constructive Criticism PLEASE

You are very persistant in your deletions.

May I please ask you guys for some constructive assistance?

If you really want to make Wikipedia better, then I explicitly ask for your assistance. Is that too much to ask from self-appointed "editors"? Editors should be helpers - Not just deleters. A real editor makes suggestions for improvement.

How about if I enter the following?

Zero Energy Design is a Holistic System Integration Engineering Process developed in 1979. The work has been supported by the Oak Ridge National Laboratories, and the U.S. Department of Energy for over thirty years.[1]

It only references an authoritative source (other than my own websites).

How can editors complain about a reference to work funded by U.S. government agencies?

I AM trying hard to learn how to to accomodate the Wikipedia rules. Is there room in your exclusive CCA club? Zero Energy Design is a historical reference. The DOE and ORNL believe that there are lessons from the past that ARE valuable today.

The 2011 DOE Strategic Plan says that we should Deply the technology that we have. What motivation do you have for blocking the deployment of government-funded R&D information?

You have asked for advice a number of times and been given it by several other users, but you appear to be ignoring it. The basic problem is that you appear to be incapable of writing the article from a neutral point of view, which is not surprising as you are closely connected with the subject as its creator. You have a massive and inescapable conflict of interest. This is precisely why users with a COI are strongly advised not to create or contribute to articles where they have a COI. So my advice is to leave it to someone else to create the article. There is no deadline, the world won't end tomorrow (well some think it will, but they are nutjobs) if there is no article about this subject right now. If you really want to get something out there, try WikiCompany. I have stated my position and I am not going to debate this any further with you. If you want to revisit the deletion of the articles (which have by the way been deleted 4 times now), contact the admins who made the deletions. – ukexpat (talk) 17:30, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

The easiest way to do this is for the copyright owner of the image to release it on terms acceptable to Wikipedia. The process is explained at WP:IOWN. History of ACQUIRE - Donation

Thank you for your response. There was another individual that also responded and let me know that the history on my web site was "poorly referenced" and therefore did not indicate that the information was "notable." I assumed that information on this game was "notable" since it is already on Wikipedia. I do not reference published works because there is no published work that gives the detailed history that I have created. In the link you gave me I see that Wikipedia does not accept "personal research" articles. Since my personal research was done through years of buying and selling these games and not from reading other publishings, my contribution is not welcomed by Wikipedia. I was thinking that the contribution would greatly enhance the page that already exists on Wikipedia concerning the game of ACQUIRE, but I will just leave it alone.

My point was that content disputes should be discussed on the article's talk page. WP:EAR and dispute resolution should be a last resort. The part about the edits, I think, has been resolved as that particular editor has now let my edit stay. This is about the 4th time I've put it in. It's still there now.

The other item is the fact that someone has removed a "reliable" source that you once had on your site. Since that particular item (the pdf of Blanco's first letter) is being scrubbed from the net, I find it disappointing that it has now been removed from Wiki as well. What do you all do when instances like this happen? As I told the editor with whom I was having the dispute, I DO have a copy of that pdf, but just do not want to put it onto Wiki because of the apparent ease of removing it without any recourse, and then that web page might be scrubbed as well. Do any of you know what is going on in our present political climate? It is very discomforting that this one letter has ALMOST disappeared from any sources. When one links to it, that site no longer exists. Do you all have any way of preventing this type of activity on Wiki? The "volunteer" issue comes from one of your pages about people "volunteering" "Wikipedia is written, edited, maintained, and almost completely operated by volunteers from around the world." I have not "let the edit stay", I am simply not willing to edit war over Sam Donald's insistence on adding this badly cited material. I've asked Sam Donald to revert his changes and discuss, but he's declined to do so. As I have already explained;
  • a user generated wiki (like "Commons History") is not a reliable source and a cite from it (particularly an unclear one) is no adequate reason to remove other cited material it disagrees with.
  • The argument that the pdf is being "scrubbed from the net" is Sam Donald's own personal original research and theory and is a claim not backed by any reliable source.
  • There is no indication I can find, despite Sam Donald's conspiracy theory, that this pdf has ever been referred to in this article, or has ever been on Wikipedia.
  • The pdf is accessible through the link Sam Donald claims it has "disappeared from", it is simply on a personal website that doesn't permit external linking. (His misunderstanding of this is one reason original research is dangerous.)
  • Wikipedia is not the place for him to conduct original analysis of primary sources such as the PDF, particularly when its origin is unclear.
  • It is very difficult to follow what is being said on the article now, particularly as it now appears to be suggesting that the lack of a cite is evidence of truth.
  • You are, by your own admission, edit warring Sam Donald. Please stop this and respond to my points.

Hi, My earlier edit on Tally Solutions was deleted, I don't see it as promotional. I don't work at Tally and is in no way affiliated to them. Extension capabilities in common formats and programming languages is an essential feature of any software and listing it here seemed like a good idea. Ayurveda (band)

Dear Expat,

You had input into my page, Ayurveda (band), back in March. I have since made deletions and edits based on feedback I received. I would greatly appreciate it if you would take a look at the page again and let me know what you think.

A little history: The page was deleted once for sounding too "fan-based". A question of notability came up as well; one criticism was that the videos were all live (and anyone can do that)...Ayurveda has since debuted their first concept video, "Domestic Bliss". Their most recent album, "H. Luminous" was favorably reviewed by The Washington Post; they have also been favorably mentioned in another leading U.S. publication, The New York Post. My take on notability: Ayurveda has a particularly strong fan-base among the Nepali community, both inside the States and in Nepal. Because Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world with little media (tv, radio, etc.) available, new music travels by word-of-mouth & internet. Ayurveda is big in Nepal; music lovers there have been clamoring to get them to tour Nepal for the last couple years. This year, October 11, Ayurveda will tour there and in India.

My point is, the denying of a page in Wikipedia seems like cultural elitism to me. Wikipedia is supposed to be a global medium and what might not be "fully notable" by western standards may be in other parts of the world.

P.S. I did do a considerable amount of editing to the page taking into consideration feedback on the "sounding too fan-based" issue.

Wikipedia notability isn't "cultural elitism" or about popularity or strength of fan base, it is simply a matter of the coverage that the subject has received in reliable sources -- they must be reliable and verifiable. 2 days of work were lost and I don't know why, can you help?

sometime after 4pm french time I lost two days of work on my first article as I was trying to find out how to resize a embedded image. I dont know how to tell you where it was. It was a user draft if I remember correctly. I have not known how to recover my work so I had not turned off the computer or left the wiki site out of fear of losing it. The subject was <chateau de la motte, joue du Plain> I may have eliminated the joue du plain part. my user name is mlane78212. I did get a warning saying that there was a problem with the server and try again in a few minutes That was two hours ago. Can you help? To address your concern about the authorship of the article: I have posted the username as Francoisg but in fact I am an employee of his. I am using other artist articles as my template for what to include and how. I believe I am operating under the correct guidelines - everything is factual, neither opinion nor marketing. The tone looks fine, but you should read the advice here in view of your conflict of interest. hi,

i have no idea who or what you are. This is the last moment I will put any time in a group project. I am not a bureaucrat and the way wikipedia works is too bureaucratic and at the same time too much random.

Everything I have added here has been deleted and changed by you. You have no idea what band we have, nor have you ever seen one of our shows. Without any knowledge of what band we are, you put us in a BRITISH TV SHOW portal. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Freewheelers)

All my efforts have been ruined by you. At least should a search for 'freewheelers cello' lead to our band. We are the only group that is called the Freewheelers and has a cello central in the music and on stage.

Now it leads to some Chris Carmichael, who doesn't even play cello as his first instrument. Ilene McHolland does, and she did so first chair in the orchestra of Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, jr. She played cello in Plain James and opened with that band for Journey, Foreigner, Kansas and Rush. But maybe you don't know those names either....

We have toured intensively in Spain, and extensively in the Netherlands and California. We have never met the other Freewheeler band or heard anything from them, although we have tried to contact them. They are obviously busy with their new projects.

So tell me, why are you trying to ruin my band and efforts?

Now just hold on a minute. You have absolutely no reason to come to my talk page and make demands like this. Yes we have an article Freewheelers which is about a TV show hence it has been added to the relevant project about British TV shows. Apparently there is also a band called The Freewheelers. Fine, so there might be. But in order for there to be a Wikipedia article about the band, it has to meet the notability requirements set out at WP:BAND. If it meets those requirements, the article would be called Freewheelers (band), you do not edit the TV show article to add stuff about the band. As you are connected with the band you have a conflict of interest, so should not create the article yourself, but you can ask for it to be created by following the process set out at WP:Requested articles. Landor Associates

Hi Ukexpat,

Yes, I work for the company, but I was trying very hard NOT to be promotional and only state the facts. We've had a number of people specifically ask us to update the page with our historical information. We have a long, interesting history as a firm. I, in fact, added a LOT of historical reference that weren't in the last version of the article. The notes from the last version indicated that things weren't documented properly -- and I documented everything I could. Is it the links to our case histories that you don't like? I will take them all out, I thought I was being useful to a reader, not promotional. I have a PhD from the University of Chicago and I used to work for the University of Chicago Press. I am trying to be academic about this, not promotional. Please restore the version I put up, I will amend it any way you see fit, but I added TONS of historical information!! This is precisely why we request users with a COI not to edit relevant articles, because when you have a COI it is almost impossible to write objectively, no matter how hard you try. Almost all the information in the article is verified by non-Landor-employee Bernie Gallagher, who wrote his thesis about Walter Landor and Landor Associates on his own. Regarding a conflict of interest:

Thank you for the expediency of the replies. I was unaware of the rarity in which protections are granted. I disagree however, in regards to the matter of a conflict of interest. We do not seek to promote the Monument in a commercial fashion, only publish up to date information as often as can be done, without the risk of false edits. Although I was not personally a witness, there have been reports of misinformation in the past. Supernova Entertainment

Hey there,

Somewhat new to the Wikipedia game, although I do critical analysis and nonfiction research writing on the reg. Supernova (company) does not have a page but should be linked to several other Wikipedia entries (Battle of the Bands, Corus Entertainment, etc).

I have added the page but it has been deleted stating it is too much like advertising. However, all the elements of the page are factual and are not soliciting any kind of business. I had parked the article in my sandbox, and made a request to move; which has now been deleted. I would like to know if you have any recommendations specifically for this article?

Intent isn't the key here, it's tone -- even if all the elements of the page are factual and are not soliciting any kind of business, the tone of the article was promotional, hence the deletion. I suggest that you look at articles about other companies, such as Microsoft, Dow, BASF, and DuPont to see how they are written and structured. The important thing is to stick to only those things that can be verified by references to reliable sources, leaving out any editorialising, PR-speak, marketing fluff etc. Find and cite reliable sources that demonstrate that the company is notable per these guidelines. I don't think there are any formal guidelines, but nearly all of the biographical articles I have seen on Wikipedia (and trust me, that's a lot) follow this format. Consistency is good. In fact, I would go even further (as I did in an earlier edit) and remove the "Career" heading completely and promote its subheadings. – ukexpat (talk) 16:54, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for responding. Honestly, when decisions are made to revert edits by others, based on subjective opinion, the action generally results in edit wars. Not good. While I respect your opinions, I would highly recommend that you refrain from reverting the work of others when the changes are based merely on your opinion or what you have seen in the past. I am familiar with your editing background and truly believe that you have come across several articles which conform to your ideal. Your work is to be commended. That said, I have come across several articles as well, and work closely with the biography Wikiproject. There are no guidelines that support your revision. However, there are guidelines that provide for caution in changing and reverting section headings. While consistency is good, there are millions of articles and thousands of editors working on these articles. The opinions of many editors may differ from your own. The goal within the project, in this regard needs to focus on collaboration. If you were to review many of the biography articles which have been assessed at GA and FA standards, you would be hard pressed to find a majority of articles that support your preference. In the future, I might suggest making a suggestion on the talk page of the article for which you wish to make changes. I work with a lot of new editors. Changes such as yours are really muddying the waters and hurting the credibility of the project. I'm personally grateful that your actions were not made to the edits of a new editor. I can take it. Has Ukexpat breached these principles? Not that I can see. Does Ukexpat have to go around seeking consensus before changing section headings? No. Is Ukexpat "muddying the waters and hurting the credibility of the project"? Not by any stretch of the imagination. Does Ukexpat have a clue what he's doing? Yes, otherwise I and others wouldn't be intermittently pestering him to accept a nomination for adminship. Does Ukexpat have experience of working with new editors? Yes, he is one of the most consistently present and helpful editors at the Help Desk, where lots of new users post questions about their new articles, etc. Would his minor changes have driven away a new editor? You're entitled to your opinion. Ukexpat has a history of reverting edits based on subjective opinion and stating that the edits of others are in error and unnecessary (when guidelines do not support his personal opinion). Sure, there was no edit war. However, as I stated above, actions such as those employed by Ukexpat often result in edit wars with newer editors. This shouldn't happen. Does Ukexpat have to go around seeking consensus before changing section headings? No, not when they are not in compliance with stated MOS guidelines. However, when they are made based on subjective, personal opinion, changes without discussing it with the editor are ill advised. Comments made to new editors include referring to their work as "spammy", "gushing", and a "spamfest". Overall, Ukexpat is to be commended for his work. I might be inclined to support him if he were to throw his hat in the RFA ring. That said, I would hope that he would learn to temper his communication with new editors and work with them. For what it's worth, I have been in communication just today with a first time editor that was driven away through Ukexpat's words and actions. She was quite disillusioned. I have provided encouragement, along with links to various policies and guidelines. Including a link to the MOS, of which she never knew existed. Its much easier to learn to work with other editors, providing proper guidance, than it is to abruptly tell them to take it to the talk page. It reminds me of being in... oh let's say hardware store. I'm looking for a crescent wrench and find a customer service clerk and ask for assistance. But the most I get is a vague wave and a statement to look for it over in the corner of the store. Yeah, right. Thanks for the help. How is Wikipedia any different? Is it any wonder why Wikipedia has fewer than 10 percent female editors working on the project? The aggressive nature and turbulent culture found on Wikipedia has overall, been a turn-off to women. I think its time for all of us to check ourselves. Too many editors are being turned away. BAND: the Freewheelers

hi, on the page that you suggested where I can ask someone to make a page for my band (have to do that to avoid conflict of interest, apparently) I didn't find any info on that.

So, I am going to ask you, as you are the person that has edited (and replaced) my Freewheeler band article. We are member of the Sacramento Blues Society (www.sacblues.com) for 2.5 years. Before that, we have played at various stages in the Netherlands (Burgpop, Lutjebroek, Westwoud, Nijmegen) and had some reviews in local newspapers. In Spain we were main guest at InformacionTV of Alicante, and we were featured in the San Vicente local radioshow. Besides that, we have played a number of cannabis legalisation festivals, like the Alacannabis Cup festival. Also, there have been articles in the Alicante newspaper 'Diario Informacion'. We have produced three official cd's. Our bandpages are at:

Gutierrez' biography

Hello, I am sorry if I have caused any problems. I thought we all wanted to have the best page possible reflecting the person's woek and accomplishments. I am new to WIKI and thought one could add and reword to make the biography flow and read better. I read similar biographical articles on WIKI that used similar phrasing with documentation. You may check the documentation, or, if you need additional documentation, pleasse let me know. Perhaps we can work on a biographical version that reflects Mr. Gutierrez' legacy. The current version is not reflective of his life and accomplishments. I tried to narrate as best as I could, documenting my statements. There are quotes for his back problems, but my verifiable quotes and information regarding his accomplishments is being rejected. I aplologize for any problems or incovenience I may have caused. I am new to wiki and welcome your help and suggestions. I am unfamiliar with the proper terminology. My intention for using the word artistry was to document his life, work, and achievements. My intention for using the word legacy is that I feel anything written on wikipedia today leaves a legacy for mankind. Paulson & Co.

Thanks for your input at BLPN. I would like to remove the redirect and create a new article as you suggested. The official name of the company is [Paulson & Co. Inc.] Do you think I should create a new article and then change the [Paulson & Co.] to redirect to the new article [Paulson & Co. Inc.] or just use the existing article title: [Paulson & Co.]? For Wikipedia purposes the title of the article about the company would be Paulson & Co. (we don't use "Inc" etc unless needed for disambiguation purposes, see WP:NCCORP). So, as I mentioned at the Help Desk, you wold edit that page to remove the redirect code and add your text. I would advise that before you do that, you create the article as a draft in your userspace first, at User:Keithbob/Paulson & Co. for example, so that you can work on it at your own pace and then have it reviewed by other users before you copy and paste it into Paulson & Co.. If you use the article wizard, it has the option to create a draft in user space. Also, before you start, take a look at WP:BIO, WP:BFAQ and WP:RS. Deleted Talk Page

My talk page with the link to Horacio Gutierrez' website has been deleted. There was quite a bit of discussion and notes on the page. I placed information on Mr. Gutierrez' website per discussions and suggestions of editors on the Talk Page. I fear all my entries will be deleted again if the Talk page is gone. I need your help.
