Firstly,

Welcome!

Hello, Verces, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Second, please consider using the "Show preview" button at the bottom of the edit window so that you only have to save one or two big changes rather a dozen little ones, and also just editing individual sections (the section headers should have a little button marked "edit" next to them) rather than the whole article at the same time. If someone is editing the page at the same time as you, making lots of small changes to the whole article will keeping causing them to have edit conflicts every time they try to save the page; when they then take the time to integrate your changes with their own and try to save again, they'll get another edit conflict because in that time you've made another minor change and saved it. Thanks!

Naming conventions[edit]

Thanks for your interest in the Yi Sun-sin article. If you wish to create a naming convention for people bearing the surname "이", let's discuss it on Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Korean). At present, there is no convention that "Lee" is preferred, and in the case of 이순신 it appears to be about 10 times less common than "Yi." -- Visviva 02:39, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Images[edit]

Hello again! I notice that you have uploaded a lot of wonderful pictures. Thanks! Unfortunately, there is a problem. Images uploaded to Wikipedia need to be released under a free license, or else be usable under fair use doctrine. Please go to the image description pages, add an image tag, and identify the image source. If you took the pictures yourself, give yourself credit and also mark the images {{GFDL}}. If you believe they are fair use, please explain on the image pages.

For your convenience, here is a list of untagged images you have uploaded: Image:Korea-arms2.gif Image:Twot5.gif Image:Keirstanley.jpg Image:63building.jpg Image:Commodusj.jpg Image:Russellridley.jpg Image:Gladiator09.jpg Image:Zimmerhans.jpg Image:Cityrome.jpg Image:Proximoandco.jpg Image:Aureliusandmaximus.jpg Image:In Anger.jpg Image:550spyder.jpg Image:959porsche.jpg Image:Caymanporsche.JPG Image:Daewoorussia.gif Image:Daewoocenter.jpg Image:Daewoochairman.jpg Image:Kimwoojung.jpg Image:Dawn1.JPG Image:Sejongcenternight.jpg Image:Festivalandrecital.jpg

In a little while, I will list these images on the Possibly Unfree Images page. I will also post another note here to keep you informed. You will then have 30 days to provide copyright and source information. If you do not do so, they will be deleted.

You've added some great pictures, so please add copyright tags too! And don't add any more pictures without tags. We're watching. Cheers! -- Visviva 30 June 2005 18:00 (UTC)

As promised, I have listed the above images as possible unfree images. Please clarify their status. -- Visviva 3 July 2005 10:03 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Dawn1.JPG[edit]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Dawn1.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angr (tc) 15:27, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Korea-arms2.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Korea-arms2.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so please also include the source of the image; in most cases the website where you found it.

Please signify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Conscious 08:50, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Seoulartscenter.JPG[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Seoulartscenter.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:09, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Cityrome.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Cityrome.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:13, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
