May 2012[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Tea, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been considered as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to place "{{helpme}}" on your talk page and someone will drop by to help.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Tea was changed by Vibhabamba (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.941626 on 2012-05-15T21:18:44+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 21:18, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Vada pav has been reverted.
Your edit here to Vada pav was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://indianfood.about.com/od/vegetariansnacks/r/vadapav.htm) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 22:14, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Belated Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Vibhabamba, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Since you've shown some interest in editing topics related to India, we hope you'll stay and add content to India related articles. Indian topics are generally underrepresented on wikipedia and you can help counter this imbalance by becoming a regular contributor and by joining or watchlisting India related discussions (for example, Noticeboard for India-related topics). Again, welcome!

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Rsrikanth05 (talk) 11:40, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Lella Vignelli[edit]

A tag has been placed on Lella Vignelli requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. AutomaticStrikeout 22:16, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Teahouse![edit]

Hi thanks so much for contributing to the Teahouse project. We're glad you're sharing your experience with the community. Just a few notes - we do have a special method for interacting with editors who visit, please read tips to learn more - this includes being super friendly, welcoming editors who ask a question (Hi!) and not using wiki speak, jargons or extensive links. So far, it's working to retain new editors, which you can learn about in our pilot report. Please take these things into consideration when helping editors at the Teahouse, and I appreciate all you do for Wikipedia! SarahStierch (talk) 19:32, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

I think that the landing pages of tea house are cluttered with so much stuff that the important things get lost in there.

Edit options changes mockup[edit]

Screenshot mockup thing

From what you and Oliver have said, the following are the only changes to the edit interface in the current iteration, no?

  • Emphasis of the save button
  • Movement of the edit summary explanation into the placeholder attribute

I made a mockup of that specifically, but it did require a couple other changes to work:

  • Added Agora styling to all the buttons on the edit form so they maintain consistency with the emphasised save page button (I am like 70% certain that what I used there was the correct and current styling)
  • Lightened the grey background so the buttons would stand out more, as said button style is somewhat dark as well

Also wound up having to remove the default edit summary text '/* History */ ' for the placeholder text to actually show up, but anyway, does that seem about right to you, and would you be opposed to updating the mockup on the page to use that, as the current is somewhat misleading? -— Isarra 06:48, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

HelpPage IconPack[edit]

Hi. There's a request for 2 more icons in the redesigned Help:Contents/B, for the 2 lower sections. Would you be able to create these easily, to match the dimensions and style of the others you created (eg File:HelpPage IconPack-01.png)?

For the "Reference Desk" section, I think a question mark/magnifying glass/book theme would be appropriate, something similar to File:Noia 64 apps kdict.png perhaps?

For the "Question about Wikipedia" section, we just need something representative of our "W" :)

I took a long look through commons:category:icons but couldn't see anything that fit well, for either of these. Let me know here, or ask User:The wub, or see the talkpage thread at Help talk:Contents#Oppose know, if you have any questions. Thanks. —Quiddity (talk) 22:02, 11 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of List of articles started by anonymous users[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on List of articles started by anonymous users requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Barney the barney barney (talk) 10:04, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the note. There are, however, two problems with your article:
  1. It is in the article namespace - this, a the name suggests is for articles, not internal Wikipedia pages.
  2. It was substantially incomplete (i.e. no content)
While it might be possible to create a list at Wikipedia:List of articles started by anonymous users, to address #2 above it must have content, and ideally it must be complete. Fortunately, anonymous users can't start pages any more. So, you'd have to write a bot to (1) check all articles in the Wiki, which stands at 4,571,969 - that's 4 million - determine which were previously created by anonymous users, and dump the data into that page. For what purpose would it serve? None that I can immediately think of. Barney the barney barney (talk) 18:10, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Ways to improve The Noun project[edit]

Hi, I'm Sosthenes12. Vibhabamba, thanks for creating The Noun project!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please do not be alarmed by the number of tags. Most of them are very easily fixed (add links into and out of page; make it longer). The main thing is to add reliable secondary sources to establish notability. Thanks and good luck!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Speedy deletion nomination of The Noun project[edit]

Hello Vibhabamba,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Noun project for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Barney the barney barney (talk) 08:08, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

OER inquiry[edit]

Hi Vibhabamba, I'm sending you this message because you're one of about 300 users who have recently edited an article in the umbrella category of open educational resources (OER) (or open education). In evaluating several projects we've been working on (e.g. the WIKISOO course and WikiProject Open), my colleague Pete Forsyth and I have wondered who chooses to edit OER-related articles and why. Regardless of whether you've taken the WIKISOO course yourself - and/or never even heard the term OER before - we'd be extremely grateful for your participation in this brief, anonymous survey before 27 April. No personal data is being collected. If you have any ideas or questions, please get in touch. My talk page awaits. Thanks for your support! - Sara FB (talk) 20:50, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
