[edit] New image project

Hi. This little form letter is just a courtesy notice to let you know that a proposal to merge the projects Wikipedia:WikiProject Free images, Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use, Wikipedia:WikiProject Moving free images to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia:WikiProject Illustration into the newly formed Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media has met with general support at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Files. Since you're on the rosters of membership in at least one of those projects, I thought you might be interested. Conversation about redirecting those projects is located here. Please participate in that discussion if you have any interest, and if you still have interest in achieving the goals of the original project, we'd love to have you join in. If you aren't interested in either the conversation or the project, please pardon the interruption. :) Thanks. Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:03, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Request for source file of file:Engine movingparts.jpg

Hi. I am a french user of Wikipedia, where i try to be a Wikigrafist (i do mostly vector drawings). When I find this drawing you made on Blender, it give me the taste to return to 3D modelling, which i used to play with a long time ago with 3D Studio. As i see you propose to send the source files of your work on the file description, and to answer to a request made on our graphic labs, (and to help me to understand how you do this wonderful job too), may you send me the .blend file of this file ? You can let me directly a link on my french talk page or send me directly an email by using Special:EmailUser/-Strogoff-. Greetings, ---Strogoff- (talk) 15:27, 27 April 2009 (UTC) Please, excuse me for my awful english,!

[edit] File source problem with File:Demo map of world highlighting Germany.png

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Demo map of world highlighting Germany.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:28, 25 May 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Papa November (talk) 10:28, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Pepper's Ghost Images

I'll be honest: I'm not entirely clear about the terms of really any license available through Wikipedia, but I'm fairly certain that if I want to use these images in my book about optical illusions I'm working on (and I do) that I could as long as I credited you and stated the licenses it's available under. What all do I need to do to use them? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skillusion (talkcontribs) 01:07, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Hey Wapcaplet

Hi, I noticed you have been a hardworking illustrator. I know, you started the Wikiproject:Illustration back in 2003. I think Wikipedia is diverse enough to coordinate more illustrators and people that in general wish to contribute with Wikipedia, the problem in my opinion is that since illustration is a labor intensive activity is not easy to find people willing to illustrate any articles. I think, and i say that for my personal experience, illustrators tend to contribute with articles they relate more to. For example someone working with computers might be more interested in making a diagram about computers than in making a diagram of a plant or an animal. So I think the approach should be a more flexible but encouraging illustrators to work in articles of their liking. This in my opinion is different to the Graphic lab approach which encourages requests. Anyway, I have created a page in the Wikiproject:Images and Media which is the parent project. Any feedback from you would be appreciated . Thanks --Camilo Sanchez (talk) 21:14, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] File permission problem with File:M209_Key_wheels.jpg

Copyright-problem.svg

Thanks for uploading File:M209_Key_wheels.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. I'm not happy with the colors in that article. Apparently you've been overruled and I don't understand. The photos of the cyan, magenta and yellow inks contributing to the photo look accurate, but the color there sure doesn't look like the CMYK illustration at the top.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:26, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure who to go to with this, but look at how the colors most defintely do not match. Pay no attention to the cyan and magenta on the right which match your vision, but look at the boxes and then the cyan and magenta in the infoboxes. While they're not your cyan and magenta, they certainly aren't the colors in the boxes.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:38, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.
