FIFA World Cup[edit]

Re: your revert and answer. I know what "preliminarily" means, thanks, but it makes no sense in this context. "Team cannot preliminarily advance" is meaningless in itself (they can't advance before they advance? they can't advance earlier than expected? they can't advance before anyone else advances?), and it certainly doesn't convey what it was presumably intended to convey (the team is already mathematically unable to advance despite having games left to play). There has to be a better and less confusing way to say that. ✤ Fosse 8 ✤ 16:01, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

@Fosse8: I completely understand. The word does look awkward in this sense. I only reverted your edit because I thought you might've not thought it was a word due to the way in which you detailed your edit on the history page. --WikiWinters (talk) 17:18, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Re: Revision of Longest words[edit]

Well, I did two improvements:

  1. removed word "Konstantynopolitańczykowianeczka", because it was ungrammatical (word Konstantynopolitańczyk = 'a man from Constantinople' is correct; word Konstantynopolitańczykówna = obsolete: 'a daughter of a man from Constantinople' also makes sense; but suffix -owianeczka in context means nothing)
  2. added information that dziewięćdziesięciokilkuletniemu is dative case

Thank you for your kind attention --WTM (talk) 16:43, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Per Wikipedia:Disambiguation (see also Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts), entries on disambiguation pages should link to an article, and not simply be a dictionary definition. lartoven (t·c) 20:38, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Arthur D. Levinson[edit]

Hello WikiWinters. Your move request for this article will probably close with No Consensus unless someone adds further commentary or data. In a quick Google search I did find some hits for 'Art Levinson' but you didn't mention this in your own move proposal. Consider whether you can add anything more to yuour request at Talk:Arthur D. Levinson#Requested move. To argue COMMONNAME you would need to show that 'Art Levinson' is a more frequent way to refer to this man that 'Arthur D. Levinson.' Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 16:37, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

@EdJohnston: Fixed. WikiWinters (talk) 22:41, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
@EdJohnston: Could you check out the discussion on the talk page? Perhaps you could provide a third opinion. Thanks. WikiWinters (talk) 15:34, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm not planning to give a third opinion. I often close move discussions as an admin, and occasionally I prod some of the participants to expand their reasoning. Unless someone else joins in (or unless you provide a convincing rebuttal) my guess is that this move request will fail. There is a tendency not to use nicknames in article titles unless they are strongly preferred over the full name by reliable sources. EdJohnston (talk) 16:04, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for notice that the mottoswasn't translated. About the talk in Libertarianism, the NPOV is not solved but some editors believe that it is. --Sageo (talk) 23:14, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Geocentric view of the seasons[edit]

I didn't think you were doing anything malicious, no, but I didn't understand at all what you were trying to do. Since the title now exists only as a redirect to another article, and thus there isn't any content at that title to merge anywhere, I still don't understand what it is you're actually trying to accomplish — but no, I didn't think you were actively trying to disrupt anything. If you're trying to change where the redirect points to, you can just do that without using the "merge" process — and if you're trying to suggest that content from sun path needs to be moved into season instead, then you need to propose a discussion that involves those two articles rather than the redirect. But as it stands, since geocentric view of the seasons is just a redirect, there's no content in it to merge anywhere. Bearcat (talk) 20:30, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

@Bearcat: I simply thought that you were supposed to include the merge template on both pages proposed to be merged. WikiWinters (talk) 20:46, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
My point is that geocentric view of the seasons is just a redirect, and there's no content in it to merge anywhere. It's not that what you want is an invalid thing to propose — you're just not picking the right process to get it done. If what you want is for content that's in sun path to be moved so that it's in season instead, then you need to propose a discussion that involves the content you want moved from sun path — but changing where a redirect points isn't the same thing as "merging" anything. "Mergefrom"/"mergeto" is for moving content from one title to another — it has nothing to do with changing what target a redirect is or isn't pointing to. Edit summaries[edit]

Hi there, could you please remember to use edit summaries? It is very helpful for us with large watchlists. Thanks! Valfontis (talk) 21:52, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

@Valfontis: Sure thing! Which edits are you speaking specifically of? WikiWinters (talk) 00:35, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Well the short answer is "all of them", but specifically the Katherine Ann Power article is the one you edited that is on my watchlist. It's a controversial topic but I can see you were just copy editing. A quick "ce" as an edit summary will suffice. You can set your preferences to always prompt you to add a summary before saving. Cheers, Valfontis (talk) 04:05, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 14[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tera Wray, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:37, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

@DPL bot: Nope, it was intentional, since I don't know which model it is. WikiWinters (talk) 20:07, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Re: List of Pokémon[edit]

Hi. When adding the trademarked romanized spelling of a Pokémon's Japanese name, make sure to include a reference link so it can be verified this spelling is indeed the correct trademarked one. Your recent edits failed to do this, and have been undone for this reason. 85.167.90.10 (talk) 14:07, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
