Sat Sri Akaal! You've been undoing my edits a couple of times now with very weak and condescending reasoning. You claim your insertion of Urdu is per "wiki standards and norms" but how is it that Great Pyramid of Giza isn't littered with Arabic text? Why isn't Golden Temple littered with Devanagari/Hindi text? Likewise don't shove Pakistan ideology on pages where it doesn't belong. The article is part of a historical region and faith that is associated with the Punjabi language, not Urdu. The inclusion of Shahmukhi is more than sufficient. It would make sense if the name was derived from Urdu but neither "Guru", "Dwara", "Janam" nor "Asthan" are words of the Urdu language. If you want to help Urdu readers why don't you do something useful and translate the article and make it available on Urdu Wikipedia instead of slapping text onto English articles that have nothing to do with it. Thank you. --Manavpreet Kaur (talk) 14:00, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's a site in Pakistan, where sites are listed with their Urdu name - it isn't a "Pakistan ideology" issue at all. Sites in Pakistan get Urdu names as per consensus for WP Pakistan. Adding Punjabi (and it's already in the infobox) doesn't come at the expense of Urdu. Yes, the Urdu name is just a rendering of the site's Punjabi name, but it's still the Urdu name anyway.
And there is Arabic here Giza pyramid complex. As for your Golden Temple comment, Indian Wikipedians generally don't add native scripts, which is why Devanagari isn't listed. See here --> WP:INDICSCRIPTS. It's not consistently followed, but that's the WP policy for India. It's why there's no Urdu or Hindu at Jama Masjid, Delhi, Somnath temple, or Ajmer Sharif Dargah, and why if someone deletes the Gurmukhi script on the Golden Temple page, they could argue they're just following the rules. Religious affiliation of a site doesn't supercede its national location, which is why for example, that Muslim and Hindu sites in India follow the India guidelines for script inclusion, and not any Islam or Hinduism guidelines as an alternative.
Also, the edits were made by an IP address that belonged to you, rather than under your screename. This is actually in violation of WP:Sockpuppeting, and could potentially get you banned. The account may be new, but keep in mind all edits must be done under your screename hanceforth.[User:Willard84|Willard84]] (talk) 18:37, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Fariduddin Ganjshakar[edit]

You've done some great work on cultural heritage sites. Would you be able to look into the Shrine of Fariduddin Ganjshakar, and see if it is worthy of an article? Mar4d (talk) 17:52, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and will do.Willard84 (talk) 10:55, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Willard84: Shrine of Baba Farid is brilliantly detailed and well-written. Just wanted to congratulate you on yet another great article, which is so consistent with your high-quality and effortful work covering Pakistan. It is always a pleasure going through your contributions log. Regards, Mar4d (talk) 14:00, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Indic script[edit]

I notice you have added script today to the infoboxes for several India-related articles. Are you aware of this guidance? Apuldram (talk) 22:53, 2 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think you may be mixing them up with Pakistan-related articles. This has been brought up many times before as well, but generally, we don't have consensus at WP:PAK over script removal. Please see WP:URDUSCRIPT. Mar4d (talk) 06:25, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No. Nau Nihal Singh, Chand Kaur and Kharak Singh are all WikiProject India supported articles, see their talk pages, and this policy applies. Don't worry, I have undone the script additions. Apuldram (talk) 10:45, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Age in India/South Asia[edit]

Hi Willard84. You shouldn't add comments to a closed discussion because the discussion closer summarizes the discussion at the point he or she sees it. Re your question, I'm undecided about India vs South Asia in the title. On the one side we have the predominance of reliable sources over time while on the other side we have NPOV and, possibly, increasing usage of South Asia in reliable sources. I'm a fence sitter at this point in time! --regentspark (comment) 14:58, 24 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Some other articles...[edit]

Thanks for your recent contributions. It would also be great if you could write a little about the shrine in Kasur of Bulleh Shah, one of the most important Sufi poets and philosophers of Punjab. Some pictures can be found here. There is also a mosque in the walled city of Lahore which goes by the name of Mai Moran Masjid. It was built for Moran Sarkar, one of the consorts of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Although I am not sure if a lot has been written about it! Mar4d (talk) 00:30, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sindhi Diaspora problem[edit]

Hi Willard. I see you've made edits on Sindhi diaspora. Could you please intervene and settle an issue. Some Indian editor is claiming Sindh is an Indian province. Each time I try and correct it, he reverts it back. Thanks. --PAKHIGHWAY (talk) 19:45, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

PAKHIGHWAY You are already an ANI and have been warned before about canvassing. This behavior is not helping you. Adamgerber80 (talk) 19:52, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Adamgerber80 ANI or not, your edits make no sense. The majority of Sindhis live in Sindh...today Sindh is part of Pakistan. They chose to be part of Pakistan. Sindh did not choose to be part of British India, it was occupied by British India. Nobody asked the British to come, Sindh was sadly defeated in the Battle of Miani in 1842, and forcibly merged into British India. There is a big difference. There is no native Sindhi population in India, compared to Punjabis which share Punjab in Pakistan and India. Your edits are disruptive and quite frankly make no sense. British India means nothing to me. It was an occupation. Period. --PAKHIGHWAY (talk) 19:57, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Adding on, I don't understand this fascination that people from the subcontinent about European colonialism and occupation. Literally, it's the only population in the world which I think feels proud about being occupied and made slaves of the British. No other population in the world does this except Subcontinental people. British India was no real country to my ancestors...it was an unlawful European occupation and sick experiment which began in 1842 and thankfully ended in 1947. --PAKHIGHWAY (talk) 20:01, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The Sindhi diaspora comes from the Sindh British province not from Sindh, Pakistan because the Sindhis which migrated out of Sindh never lived in Sindh, Pakistan. The Sindhi diaspora comes from both the Sindhis who chose to live in Pakistan and moved to other countries and the one which chose to move to India and then to other countries. Pakistan did not even exist when these Sindhis moved outside Pakistan thus British India. I am happy to discuss more of this on the article talk page. But you have to stop with your disruptive attitude and canvassing. On the second point of colonial fascination, history is what it is and you cannot replace it just because you don't like it. Let's stick to facts here and not get emotional about our edits causing them gain a POV. Adamgerber80 (talk) 20:04, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This really is a troublesome matter. Diaspora includes recent migrants, and not just those compelled to migrate. There is no time qualifier to the definition of the word. That is, you didn’t gave to emigrate prior to 1947 to be in diaspora. Diaspora just means members of a community who migrated abroad. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gujarati_people#Diaspora. That’s why there’s a section on Sindhi Americans on the diaspora page. Are you seriously claiming that these people migrated before Pakistan was a country?? To pretend the Sindhi diaspora doesn’t come from Sindh province of Pakistan defies logic. If you think Sindhis only emigrated during British times, and not modern times too, then you need a source for that. Because that truly defies logic. I personally know Sindhis who immigrated from Pakistan, and so are this members of the diaspora. I’ve included mention of both facts. And let’s not forget that wide scale exodus of Hindus from Sindh didn’t begin until Karachi riots in early 1948 [1] - when Pakistan was indeed a country. So many Sindhi migrants in India came from Pakistan, not British India, as is being claimed without reference. Also, where’s the reference saying they also emigrated from Punjab? If it’s in the lead, it needs to be a substantial number. Willard84 (talk) 23:29, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your OR.[1] Just like Pakhighway, you are also going to get "banned" someday for your POV pushing. By being a lone opposer of sanctions against Pakhighway and blaming "editors from India" for Pakhighway's WP:CIR,[2] without naming one such editor with evidence, you proudly endorsed his disruption and doing exactly what has forced others to seek sanctions against Pakhighway. But what else one would expect from a disruptive editor like yourself? It would be better if you avoid disruption before others have to seek sanctions against you. Anmolbhat (talk) 06:00, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

On what basis did you revert? Did you care to even take note of the illogical assertion that Sindh’s diaspora entirely fled Sindh prior to 1947? Or did you assume this falsehood is fact, and that common sense is POV? Your whole argument seems bogus. You didn’t even bother to address a single issue!-Willard84 (talk) 06:17, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Sindhi diaspora. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Anmolbhat (talk) 06:41, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Defence, Karachi[edit]

I need some advice. How can I get this page moved back to Defence, Karachi? A couple of months ago to put in a move request to change Defence Housing Authority, Karachi to simply Defence, Karachi...which is what everyone calls it. I mean, nobody I know of calls this place "Defence Housing Authority"...I was expecting a simple "accept" to my move request. Instead the move was denied because of the some characters who we're well antiquated with...you'll notice in the talk section of the page. It was reverted back just yesterday and I seriously don't get why. Simply put, Defence Housing Authority is the name of the governing body, while Defence is the name of the neighbourhood. Even when I tried to explain this to them, they wouldn't have it. It's almost like they're just trying to bother me on purpose. What do you suggest I do? --PAKHIGHWAY (talk) 22:02, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
