Peer review on Rob-B-Hood

Hello, long time no talk. (This is formerly User:Kylohk)

I've been working on an article on the Jackie Chan film Rob-B-Hood, and I have placed it under peer review. If you have the time, please go and have a look at the article and give some feedback on it on Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Peer review/Rob-B-Hood. Thanks.--Alasdair 04:02, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Per your comments on the Peer Review, I've made some changes to the article, and it's been copyedited by 2 other editors. I'd be grateful if you go and take a look at the article again and identify any shortcomings with it on the FAC. Thanks.--Alasdair 01:50, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
    • Yes, the script was toned down to please the Chinese censors. They don't want Jackie Chan to be too evil, it seems. (the ref could only be accessed through a subscription) As for the complicated fight scene involving Yuen Biao, well, let's say they were trying to play a game of tag involving handcuffs. (Could not upload an image of that fight, due to people complaining about "fair use".) Have a nice day. P.S. Is a gross figure of US$20 million considered good for a film?--Alasdair 00:32, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Fargo

I understand what you mean. It does seem a bit silly to classify it as a British film, but then again, Working title was one of the two production companies, so I think that this deserves a mention[1]. You will find that the same also goes for United 93 (film). Since Studio Canal had a part in the production of Hot Fuzz, it appears to have some "French" in it. At least that is what the British Film Institute says[2]. Reginmund 03:33, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

No problem. I don't mind clarifying anything I edit. Reginmund 17:27, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

A conversation about film list templates with Ernst Stavro Blofeld

Don't you bother to speak any more?? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:46, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Well they look fine now. I don't know what I was thinking with the encyclopedia thing but I was just trying to find a way to make them look better. Lists do give the impression of being scruffy. I just wish you would be a bit more responsive particularly with things you know I am involved in ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:59, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes it would be cool to have some public domain images for every list but this is the problem with films isn't it!!! Most are copywrighted. I must admit I was the kind of little boy who looking through a book would look at the pictures first rather than reading it all!! I have always been attracted by images and presentation. I'm sure you'll agree that all the world lists are developing gradually but it will take a lot of time with so little editors working on them. Hope you are well - I admire the way you seem able to get lots of free images for Thai actors and premieres and stuff. Are they really your photos? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:16, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

To be honest if the pixel size of the image is reduced it looks good qality. I wouldn't have noticed the blurred only when you click it. This is the problem with creating a "free encyclopedia". There are probably many glossy high quality images of him released for media purposes but we can't use them!! I've been trying to get some images for some beautiful Indian actresses (where an image is everything!!) like Preity Zinta but all the flickr images are copywrighted. Luckily we found one for Riya Sen and I put in a good one for Shilpa Shetty and it makes a big difference. I like the look of that Danish-Thai actress ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:27, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Sririta Jensen -more a model than an actress I think - I have her on my user page ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:43, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Ok if you must, but only if the template has more than one line like Australia. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 09:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

I hadn't noticed yet but I see they are looking better. thanks for your effort - I like the Indian template ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 09:04, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

If you are'nt too busy can you help process The Letter: Jod Mai Rak a little. I think its good you are starting some of the older Thai films. Thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:21, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes the Thai language looks very difficult to comprehend as with all Eastern language systems. I don;t ge tthe Chinese and Japanese at all - a square for every word!! Kopf koon kaf is about all I picked up when I visited Thailand. Kopf koon kaf ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:29, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

I've just started an article on Breakthrough role as a request from somebody. I wasn't sure it was essential but why not. Can you think of anything to add ? p.s The Letter is a huge improvement!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:38, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:BEC-Terologo.png. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:39, 12 September 2007 (UTC). Bey Logan

I'm on the other side of the coin. Most of my HK DVDs are from the UK, where I'm based, so I've listened to around 35 of his commentaries so far! Slight overkill, perhaps... Please see my note on the ordering of the list at Talk:Bey Logan filmography and let me know your thoughts. Cheers, Gram123 14:37, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Image altering

Hello Mr Wise howz life. I've managed to get wikipedia a whole bank of free images on Indian actors and premieres for wikipedia in an agreement I made with the director of a site Bollywood blog who have photographers snapping the stars in Mumbai daily. I uploaded the image Image:KareenaKapoor.jpg but theres one small problem. It has a faint watermark on it. Under the licensing 3.0 whihc took me several days to chase up we are permitted to modify it but it must be uploaded to english wikipedia not the commons. Is it possible you could see if this can be rubbed out. I'm sure with a peachy colour on her chest and a brown colour on her hair it could be rubbed clear. Could you try experimenting with it some time? Thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:54, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

They are indeed a big nuisance as we have hundreds of potential images of film premires and festivals and awardsalso-specialized images that could go in the reception section of film articles also. Luckily not all the images are like this see Aishwarya Rai and Preity Zinta -we managed to find clear ones two of my worlds most beautiful women but we did intend uploading many. I guess we'll hve to be selective and search for the watermark free ones. If you could do it successfully removinag the logo I would only ask for a few maximum at most out of respect as I know you have important work to do . Now I;d love to find a clear image of Mallika Sherawat. Now for once that plane crash in Phuket has hit headline news over here. 10 brits aboard apparantly landing in a monsoon ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:21, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh wow you did it!!! Awesome!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:05, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I'll only ask for one for now. A clear image of Image:MallikaSherawat1.jpg would satisfy a six year quest to find an image of this beauty. Oh man aicarumba she's hot ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:20, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

There is File:MallikaSherawat.jpg but its kinf of washed out I was about to delete -its proably harder to do. I'd love to see what the other looked like was it really that bad? I'll try to dig out another now ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:39, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Its very frustrating that we have the license to use thousands of imges yet most are emblazened with that annoying logo!! Nothing's easy is it!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:41, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

What about [3] the watermark looks fainter here might be easier to do and it is a good image. Let me know and I'll upload it thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

OK thats cool. I just wish the logos weren't splashed across her skin!! Facially I think she has a resemblance to Halle Berry and Caterino who played Solange in Casiono Royale 2006 . ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:01, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I've looked for others but most are considerably worse or would be evenharder to do. The best bet is defiantely Image:MallikaSherawat.jpg as you say. With that the white on the blue on the left could prabably be phased out and the left side cropped off leaving a pretty good image I think judging by the marvellous effort you did to John Wayne. Good luck anyway over the next few days when you have a spare moment, whatever you can do baby!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:09, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

OK we have Image:Mallika Sherawat.jpg but I don't think it looks very good. Is there anyway you can unstretch it? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:59, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Its a bit better but it isn't the most attractive picture of her we could find -this is why I didn't upload it before as indeed you are completely right about the music video look. If you are certain somoe of your photoshop images looked worse then this is ok. Thanks for your help, Saludos -oh and if you could see my comments on WP:films talk page please join in the discussion/proposals ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:15, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Actor categories for deletion

Wise I would really appreciate your view on Category:Western film actors and Category:Spaghetti Western actors up for deletion. I know you don't often comment in afds but PLease see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 September 16#Actors by genre . The only alterative would be to create lists but I'd imagine these wouldn't suffice an article either. There are many actors associated with this genre including many who only appeared in them. I'd love to hear your view on it thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 13:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

What concerns me is that the List of Western film actors was deleted back in June - Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Western film actors because of a similar group of people who said something like " I don;t want my ten year old wearing a cowboy hat" as a reason to delete. Somebody recently restarted it but I really do think a category is better than a list for this. I only stumbled on it earlier due to an article I create on Marianne Koch - I dread to think how much of the encyclopedia is being deleted in the hands of one or two. All the best ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:48, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Really sorry to contact you again but once again the deletionists have got their hands on Template:Croatianfilmlist to delete it and as I know you have done some work on film templates you need to know. I am as tired of deletions and such stuff as you are!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 07:57, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Ok thanks anyway. It would have been good to see one of your efforts before I put these images up for deletion but I'll take your word for it. If they had a one decent clear image like for many of the other actors and actresses it would be sorted. Best regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:27, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for finding those . The first would be a bit small so I've uploaded Image:Mallika Sherwat3.jpg -its a stunning image of her as she usually is (some of the others made her look like she had seen a ghost) and probably wouldn't decapitate her too tightly. What do you say amigo ? Could that be cropped at the bottom and at the far sides of her hair? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:54, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

The first was too small I think ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:30, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

File:Mallika Sherwat3.jpg

What do you mean? The image has been narrowed with the logo still there? Is there something wrong with your connection? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:39, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

I'll try it in the article thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:40, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Wise you are one great guy. Thanks for all your help. Hope your computer gets over his illness soon. Adios ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:43, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
