Copyediting Iván Rodríguez

I looked through this article and made a few changes. I posted my thoughts on the article's talk page. It's all fairly minor, but the big thing that should out is that his last name is not spelled consistently throughout the article. I hope this helps, and please feel free to get in touch any time you have a similar request. GaryColemanFan (talk) 19:20, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Wizardman :) I am sorry if I in any way offended you, it was not my intension at all. The template was added automatically by an anti-vandalism tool I'm currently testing out. Carl Bechstein at DYK

I note you've just selected Carl Bechstein for DYK. I was investigating the article with an eye to doing the same, when I noticed that most of the article is a copy from the old article C. Bechstein Pianofortefabrik. There is a little new material, but nothing like a fivefold expansion from the base material lifted that article. Espresso Addict (talk) 20:20, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

I think it's too similar to be called a new article. Espresso Addict (talk)

oh i see

Just wondered why you withdrew the piano article but I see the reason above. Not sure what to do re the Irish angle. I'm guessing that we lack the 24 (or so) need to go green all day so we need to jst inclde some green ones. Victuallers (talk) 20:31, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Replace this image

I noticed that today you removed the "replace this image" image from a large number of articles. Why did you do this? A-class review of the William Stacy article

Hello Wizardman. Last June you had kindly welcomed me to Wikipedia, and given me a barnstar for the William Stacy article, so I thought that I’d ask for your help (if you are interested). The William Stacy article is GA-class, and has undergone a biography peer review. I submitted the article for a biography A-class review here during December, but there seems to be a lack of A-class reviewers. If you have the time, and if you are interested or inclined to review the article, I would appreciate. If not, no problem. Thank you, ColWilliam (talk) 22:55, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Your decision at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bob Sacamano was wrong. There was 2 keeps, 2 redirects, and 3 deletes. It should have been redirected and not deleted. No goof on your end, you did just fine. My only concern would be the age of the account making the speedy, as it is a little suspicious for Greg to show up out of the blue, empty categories being used by WikiProjects, and then place a speedy tag on them for deletion. New accounts wouldn't engage in this type of behavior, so that raises a large red flag for me. Otherwise, keep up the good work. —Viriditas | Talk 06:01, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Understanding my mistaken edits in Bedford's RfA neutral list

In this diff, I made a good-faith attempt to fix the numbering format, but I was clearly mistaken, because you and another corrected me. I hope nobody thought I was attempting to refactor another user's comments, but since I wasn't warned, I guess people realize it was an honest mistake. Aside from the basic rule never to edit other people's comments (to which I present mea culpas, and was not my intention anyway), as it regards AfD and other similar consensus-gathering processes, is there a correct syntax for changing a numbered entry to a non numbered entry, so as to allow all the correctly formatted entries to number correctly in the sequence? Is the application of ":" the correct character? BusterD (talk) 14:27, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Kasey Kiker

I noticed you deleted the article on Kasey Kiker, a professional baseball player. Your reason for deletion was he won't be notable for at least 2 years. According to WP:BIO#Athletes, any person who plays in a professional league is considered notable. There is a category with over 200 minor league baseball players. If you look at 2006 Major League Baseball Draft (the year he was drafted), you will see that most of the players selected in the first round have articles about them. In the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft article, most of the players have articles even though they only have on year of professional baseball experience. Kasey Kiker is notable, being the 12th pick of the 2006 MLB Draft, and a player on the professional Bakersfield Blaze baseball team. Branson03 (talk) 15:47, 14 April 2008 (UTC) If you thought it wasn't notable, you should have brought it to WP:AFD Branson03 (talk) 15:56, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Questions on RFAs

A lot of us want to know where admins stand on Wikipedic issues of major concern to us. On issues that are clearly important to the class of users who generally participate in RFAs (when to block, when to protect, when and how to close an XfD), the answers tend to come out in discussion. On issues that are completely unimportant to the class of users who generally participate in RFAs (issues pertaining to newbies, unestablished accounts, IPs, and the rights and representation of non-admin users), questions have to be asked outright to get any sort of discussion or answers at all. That's how I feel. Mr. IP, defender of IP editing 22:41, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Wizardman DaughterofSun sent me a credit note for loading the double picture slot on DYK. However I'm confused as the image map above was missing. I had created this just so that it could appear on the front page as I had got very good feedback when there has been one previously. Do you know why it failed to appear as I don't want to spend hours creating an image map only to find that it is disallowed or excluded after being reviewed by everyone for 5 days. I see that it was you who picked this double nom in preference to the one now on the main page which did not have an imagemap. Some clue as to how this happened would be useful Victuallers (talk) 09:24, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

I think you are missing my point. Imagemaps have been discussed on the talk page and they have been on DYK before. I spent time creating one for DYK and waited 5 days whilst everyone reviewed it. They are difficult to miss as the source code contains 100s of numbers. What I'm trying to find out is who loaded it without the image map and then when WP:ERRORS pointed out that the image map was missing merely changed the word imagemap to picture. Can you help with identifying who may have made this mistake? Victuallers (talk) 16:33, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
You said not sure then. I am very confused. When I look at this then I feel sure that you may know who it was. Should I ask for help in investigating with "identifying who may have made this mistake?"? I aoplogise if I am misreading this diff but maybe there is a bug in the system. DYK

The reference to the Warrington Town Hall gates was later in the paragraph and covered all the preceding sentences. To add an inline citation to every sentence is silly. Anyway I've added the same citation at the end of the relevant sentence; but I suppose it's too late now!!! A pity. A nice photo for the main page. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 19:18, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing it. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 07:53, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

On adminship

(cross-posted from my talk page)

Hello. I asked you a few months back on if you wanted to be an admin, but you were in the midst of an arbcom case. That has since been over, so I was wondering if you would like to take a shot at it now. Let me know of your decision. Wizardman 17:47, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I will accept your offer, but give me a few days to prepare myself. (grin) You might want to ask User:Jc37 if he wants to co-nominate; he had asked me back in November, at which time I declined. He might still be interested. Horologium (talk) 17:54, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

On an RfA

I went and nominated User:Horologium for adminship, and he has accepted. Since you asked to nom him earlier, I was wondering if you'd be interested in a co-nom. Wizardman 21:18, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the notice. I've commented at their talk page. The RfA page is also now subst and ready for nominations. - jc37 18:26, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
