Declined Articles for creation/Western Ghat Ecology Expert Panel[edit]

Hi Wywin,

I had submitted the article Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Western_Ghat_Ecology_Expert_Panel which was declined today. Could you please let me know which section of the article was inappropriate or not verifiable? I will make the changes in the article accordingly and resubmit it for review.

Thank you.

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/WebiMax[edit]

Hi Wywin,

Thank you for taking the time to review our article submission for "Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/WebiMax". I do understand your comments and want to work within the guidelines to get our article listed. I attempted to write this article from a neutral point of view and feel I have done so. Would adding the

tag allow us to get the article accepted? If so, do you have some infomration on that solution?

My profile is who I am - Yes, I do work for the company. Is there another way I should position my user profile? or should we have a 3rd party submit the article?

Is the COI solely because I am the author and my profile is associated with the company?

Trust me, it's helpful[edit]

Hey, you recently reverted a change I made to the First Rain page. You said it's not constructive. Trust me. My additions are constructive. You don't know how annoying it is to hear people confused about the guidelines for the event. And trust me, the "Freshman Fuck-up run" is pretty much an annual thing, and that's how we students refer to it. If you're worried about the fact that I used profanity, I checked here first. It's not vandalism. These are our traditions at UCSC. Now please don't revert the changes again. Thank you. - Exyphrius December 17th, 2012

Conflict of Interest[edit]

Hi Wywin,

Thank you for your note. I have read, and am aware of the Conflict of Interest policy at Wikipedia, and I am keen to operate within the rules that have been set.

Going forward, John Laing Plc have requested that I look into making a number of other updates to their page. None of these would involve removing content already there, but simply adding in new information about the company which would unequivocally improve the page for readers.

Whilst you are right to be cautious, and indeed skeptical of anyone modifying a page with a COI, I do believe that the changes that have been requested will help to serve the purpose of Wikipedia at least as much as that of my client.

Looking at the "five pillars of Wikipedia" and in particular, pillars 3 "Wikipedia is free content that anyone can edit, use, modify, and distribute" and five, "Wikipedia does not have firm rules", providing that due respect was shown at all times to pillars two "Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view" and four "Editors should treat each other with respect and civility" whilst keeping in mind the ultimate purpose contained in the first pillar, "Wikipedia is an encyclopedia", I was hoping that in the interests of accuracy and expediency, I might be able to make these additional changes myself.

I will of course take you guidance on this issue.

Many thanks,
