[edit] MSU Interview
Dear Xymmax,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC) Young June Sah --Yjune.sah (talk) 22:32, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Recreating Gabriel Cousens
Hi, I've been doing some research about Gabriel Cousens and think I've gathered enough reliable, independent, secondary source material (which is not just focused on one event) to create this article. Reading over the AfD suggests it was a bit controversial. Do you have any thoughts/tips/concerns about my doing so? Thanks and cheers, Ocaasi t | c 16:25, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- Looking over that AfD, I see that there were BLP concerns about the article that existed, so I won't restore the deleted version. However, there's no reason you can't create a version of the article you'd like in your user space. When you feel it's ready to be returned to main space, list the above case at deletion review and be sure to link your user space article so people can evaluate it. If you need help setting things up, just let me know. Take care. Xymmax So let it be written So let it be done 14:27, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Gabriel Cousens. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Ocaasi t | c 19:52, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
[edit] To undelete Med-El
Hi Xymmax, are you the right person for the following wish / request? My page(s) Med-El / MED-EL have been deleted and I want to ask you to undelete it and to move it into my userspace, since I have the intention to improve the page. I worked a lot in the German Wikipedia, s.a.: de.wikipedia.org (more than 300 contributions in medical / pharmaceutical issues) and I am confident of being able to create an adapted page, that meets the Wikipedia notability guidelines. I am convinced, that the international, Austrian company MED-EL (maker of surgically implanted hearing aids, so-called middle-ear implants resp. cochlear implants; more than 1.000 employees and operating in almost 100 countries worldwide) has the evidence to be present in the international Wikipedia. Many thanks in advance and best regards from Germany --Ftan en (talk) 13:50, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- I have restored the page to your user space. You may access it at User:Ftan en/MED-EL. The company sounds notable, but please do not reference press releases from the company. Instead, please add third-party reliable sources and there should be no problem. Cheers. Xymmax So let it be written So let it be done 14:37, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
