Technopolis[edit]

OK. I have to make something clear. I am not a newcomer. I have edited Wikipedia for a decade or so. But let's nevertheless apply the principle of "don't bite newcomers". Just imagine how a person that has no background in Wikipedia editing would react, if you would go and delete an article while it was being edited to add independent sources. It shows profound laziness and carelessness to ignore the contested deletion message and to not take a second to research what the article contains, how there is a corresponding Finnish Wikipedia article, and how its notability is established by any single fact about it. You're assuming bad faith, and I think is an obvious abuse of the deletion process. I get it if earlier there was a company edit. That does not excuse your behavior. --vuo (talk) 16:06, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

You're right, I undid my action and declined CSD. -- Y not? 17:52, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
No problem. This has happened many times since I tend to create the article first and then add sources. I am still genuinely puzzled by the appearing as advertising. I am not a salesperson; if I had to sell something to live, I couldn't. Is the terminology is too easy to confuse for advertising? That being said, I genuinely tried to find an article that the company is actually powered by a kitten and puppy grinder, but to no avail. Nobody seems to say anything else than "buy this stock"; newspaper mentions tend to be very short and boring. --vuo (talk) 22:57, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

Article deletion/request edit[edit]

Dear wikipedia staff, Please help us to upload the article about our company on Wikipedia. We tried to do it for already 5 times, averytime making changes to avoid advertising. After the last change te article was deleted anyway. This is the last version: please let us know what to edit??? Thank You in advance! WIKIPEDIA Notima1 (talk) 10:32, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

Hoax[edit]

Did you read the talk page on Mohammed Islam before removing the hoax tag? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aussie78 (talkcontribs) 18:31, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion criterion WP:G3 should be used only for obvious hoaxes. If there's a need to debate, then speedy deletion is not apprioriate.-- Y not? 18:40, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

I see. I am putting the tag back up regarding content not being true though. Aussie78 (talk) 18:42, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

I've already reviewed and declined it. You cannot put the tag back up, send it to AfD instead if you're insisting. I predict the AfD will fail. -- Y not? 18:45, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Still new here so I appreciate your patience. How is it moved to AfD? Aussie78 (talk) 18:47, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Sure. When you nominate articles for speedy deletion, administrators such as myself review them, and sometimes decline to implement them. To nominate an article for regular slow deletion, paste {{subst:afd}} at the top of the article, and follow the instructions in the box on creating a subpage and listing it in today's list. But I would advise you to wait a few days before doing it, since the NYMag article was only published today. Let there be some more coverage from the press, and a little more discussion here. Right now the article is full of weird prose, it needs a little time to mature. -- Y not? 19:04, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
Never mind, someone else has already done it. Good luck. -- Y not? 19:06, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. It had actually been moved from Rozumovsky, but I'm not going to quibble over the translation at this point. It's one for consensus, not for executive decisions. Deletion of the Republic of Briansistan[edit]

Dear Sir, I write to you in utter shock and anger. The page you have deleted is by no means a "Blatant Hoax". In fact, it is quite the opposite. I, as the leader of this nation, urge you to either restore the page, or explain to me exactly what made the page a "hoax" or "vandalist". I respect that you are an editor, however I feel disrespected, again as the leader of Briansistan, that you would call my land a hoax. Thank you. -Megastringcheese (talk) 03:53, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

glad you're having fun, Mr. Cheese, but this is a serious encyclopedia, so cut it out and give me 20 push-ups. -- Y not? 03:57, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

I am outraged that you think I am playing a game. This is a serious claim. According to the Montevideo Convention of the Rights and Duties of States, article 3 clearly states that; "The political existence of the state is independent of recognition by the other states. Even before recognition the state has the right to defend its integrity and independence, to provide for its conservation and prosperity, and consequently to organize itself as it sees fit, to legislate upon its interests, administer its services, and to define the jurisdiction and competence of its courts.

The exercise of these rights has no other limitation than the exercise of the rights of other states according to international law." This being said. Briansistan is, infact a nation. So I would again like to request that the page be republished OR explain to me just how Briansistan is a hoax. Thank you -Megastringcheese (talk) 04:11, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Try taking it to Talk:List of states with limited recognition. Let's see what we can make of your 'rights' there. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 04:26, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Requested move[edit]

Hi, this page needs to be moved to Idam Porul Yaeval, that is indeed the official spelling used (https://twitter.com/dirlingusamy/status/544752764757106688/photo/1). Instead of moving the original page, someone duplicated it (that's why I requested for a speedy deletion and did not redirect that page), which means I can't move it now. Would be nice if you could help in moving the page. Thanks. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 15:11, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Done. I misunderstood your tag - you should have tagged it for WP:G6 instead of WP:A10. -- Y not? 15:15, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

JLL deletion, and more[edit]

Hi Y, Yes, sorry to make the notice of the broken code so public, but I didn't know how else to do it.

Regarding the JLL deletion of all those service descriptions - I spent a while taking all the cr*p out of them (or so I thought) so they would be useful for anyone to understand what the company does. It took a wee while! Which bits did you have a problem with? I don't want to spend forever on this but I also believe something's needed there - say if students wanted to understand more..

Another thing: "Jones Lang Lasalle" doesn't exist any more: it's just JLL. So how do you change the name of the page, or do you have to cut and paste it into a new page? And another thing: that category, as well as having the wrong name, is so out of date to be completely misleading. I really don't think we should leave it there, and certainly not link to it... Is there another solution?

Thanks for your help. EphraimL (talk) 09:21, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

What is your interest in JLL? Could you please point me to a source on the name change, like a newspaper article, or a press release? -- Y not? 19:59, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
According to the NYSE, for example, the company continues to be known by its full name, not the acronym -- Y not? 22:17, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
It's clear to me from this recent release that the full name is still valid. -- Y not? 22:19, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi Y, I am a former contractor so I do know about the company. The press release regarding the shorter name is here: http://www.jll.com/news/229/jones-lang-lasalle-shortens-name-to-jll . As its says, "Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated" is only for use in legal documents now. I suppose I can add that to the article text. Regarding your deletion of the service descriptions and now the links to the regional websites, I'm not sure this is fair to the company and would be misleading to anyone trying to understand it. There are fundamental differences between each service and between the regions - they are like different companies, with 5k+ employees each - each of which is different enough to warrant its own Wikipedia page (don't worry - I'm not suggesting...!). I think we should reinstate the service descriptions at least. The biggest differences lie there... EphraimL (talk) 11:14, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi Y, please can you respond to the above? Thanks EphraimL (talk) 16:13, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello Y,
An article that I created was deleted and I was looking for the reasons. I'm still not sure whether I could understand every terms, but I think I could have little knowledge more than I had before. The article with the same title Dinura Pradeep Balasooriya was deleted twice. I think it happened most probably because of incorrect citation and inappropriate categorizing. Deleting Jef Huysmans[edit]

I created the article for Jef Huysmans a few months back and if I recall correctly he was a professor. Since I believe he had many published articles then he probably met the Wikipedia:Notability (academics) criteria and doesn't need to have the page removed. Would you please revert your deletion and I will add to the page so that it meets the Wikipedia:Notability (academics) criteria. Thank youMonopoly31121993 (talk) 13:22, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Sam Outlaw[edit]

Hi, Y. The page that I created on country music artist Sam Outlaw has been deleted by you. I contested before it was deleted and hope you will reconsider. I would like to make a case that the entry is significant, as Outlaw's new album is produced by Ry Cooder (please look at his page). His achievements as a producer and film scorer are significant. Sam has already received recognition in music media, as well. Please let me know what else I can do. Thank you.Fullydressed (talk) 19:28, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

For starters, please tell me how you think Sam meets WP:MUSICBIO -- Y not? 22:31, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Y. WP:MUSICBIO States that Sam may be notable if he meets "at least one of the ... criteria," the first being "the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, etc." As I noted on the page, Sam has been written about on CMTedge, the online source for country and Americana published by CMT, the nationally broadcast Country Music Television, where the video from his first record premiered. He was also been written about by The Bluegrass Situation, the nationally recognized source for bluegrass and country music started by actor and bluegrass musician Ed Helms. Additionally, today he was written about by Paste Magazine Paste Magazine, one of the most significant music and culture magazines in the United States. So I believe he meets criteria one. While he has not won or place in a major music competition, he has been selected to be a part of the highly esteemed Stagecoach Festival and Americana Music Association Festival and Conference. I also believe, as I mentioned above and on the page, that having Grammy Award winningRy Cooder produce his record is significant. Thank you. Please let me know what other information I can provide.Fullydressed (talk) 05:16, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

JLL continued[edit]

I have responded to your note in "JLL deletion, and more" above. Please look. JLL is definitely not Jones Lang Lasalle any more; just see any of its websites. EphraimL (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I don't have a further perspective on this, beyond what I have already pointed out on the distinction between legal entity name and the informal name commonly used. The relevant policy document here would perhaps be WP:COMMONNAME. Beyond this, I would advise you to bring this up for discussion on the article talk page, and see if we can arrive at WP:consensus on the issue. -- Y not? 14:53, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Deletion of page The People's Pension[edit]

Could you let me know why the page was considered blatant advertising? The original version might have contained some issues that could be considered promotional, but the most recent (and heavily edited) version was entirely factual. Indeed the only 'promotional' content that I could discern related to membership, which I would consider justification for notability. As a new editor an author of articles I would very much appreciate your view on what can and cannot be mentioned and where this article overstepped the mark. Many thanks 3nickg (talk) 16:35, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Skyvia page deletion[edit]

Why you deleted Skyvia wikipage? Please restore it and I'll tell you why.

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because it describes ways of how to integrate, backup, access, and manage your cloud data. Also there are descriptions of how to integrate your data with Salesforce, Dynamics CRM and other datasources like SQL Server. This article shows a new way (new technology) of how to work with popular cloud CRMs. This article will be useful for many people who uses Cloud in their work and want to know how to integrate their data with other data providers. This article is similar to SalesForce wikipedia article or Dynamics CRM. Those articles are available in Wikipedia, why Skyvia shouldn't be here? It is the same technology but with another architecture. People would love to know something new about Cloud with Skyvia.SuperCookyMan (talk) 07:51, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Shaw Academy[edit]

Hello. I'm author of the article you've deleted (Shaw Academy). I'm new on Wikipedia and would like to know what exactly in that article was wrong. It will help me realise my mistakes and not to make them anymore. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by R. Shalis (talkcontribs) 16:15, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:NOTADVERTISING -- Y not? 16:17, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Don't get me wrong, but I still can't figure out what was wrong. It's about the content of the article or its references? (now I see that few references really are not appropriate ) Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by R. Shalis (talkcontribs) 16:26, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

It read like advertising copy, and none of the references were to WP:reliable sources -- Y not? 16:39, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Would you mind if I rewrite the article changing the content and using more appropriate references? — Preceding unsigned comment added by R. Shalis (talkcontribs) 16:47, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

It's not a matter of getting permission from me or anyone else. But I don't think it is a notable business. In general, "Wikipedia articles cover notable topics—those that have gained sufficiently significant attention by the world at large and over a period of time", which I do not think this is. Sorry, mate. -- Y not? 16:56, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for clarifying the deletion issue. I'll try to create a good article according to your advices. Have a nice day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by R. Shalis (talkcontribs) 17:18, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Re: ITN / ISIL destruction[edit]

Hi Y -- I'd actually seen your comment when you made it, but based on the information then available, disagreed. It looks like new information has since become available and someone else has edited the blurb accordingly. By the way, I don't mind at all if you edit my contributions at ITN if you can improve them. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 16:26, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. I didn't wanna be bold on the main page. -- Y not? 17:06, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Posted ITN items don't usually get much attention; it's sometimes better to try main-page errors if you want to gauge consensus for a change in wording. Espresso Addict (talk) 17:25, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

A page you deleted was recreated[edit]

My bot detected that a page you deleted on March 20th (User:Aedinteractive/sandbox) under CSD G11 has been recreated. The page has been recreated with completely unsourced BLP content that could be considered promotional and appears to be written by someone with a WP:COI. Also, the username of the creator looks like it might violate the username policy as it can be split into Aed interactive. PhantomTech (talk) 20:01, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Birthplace Oleg Bryzhak[edit]

Hello, where did you find the birthplace of Oleg Bryzhak? We couldn't find a good reference. At this site (Bavarian Musicians' lexicon) we find Dzeskajan, and I'm quite sure its the same like Jezkazgan, de:Schesqasghan and a lot of versions more, but I'm not sure enough. Thanks, eryakaas (talk) 23:27, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

I got it from dewiki. Is it sourced there? I'll check in a bit when I get to my computer. -- Y not? 00:15, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
The link above its the source. I have no doubt its right, but I can't check the versions of spelling. I'm looking for are source where I see Dzeskajan and Jezkazgan are really the same name and place. Or another writing of his birthplace. eryakaas (talk) 00:37, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
I have looked and cannot find. Thankfully, Kazakhstan doesn't have a lot of cities. Hopefully, a proper source will turn up soon. Thanks. -- Y not? 00:53, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
I think your information and link is right. de:WP has fixed the link too. eryakaas (talk) 12:55, 25 March 2015 (UTC) Thanks again. eryakaas (talk) 12:55, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
