Marcellus Handzdown Dawson[edit]

Hello Y. Marcellus Handzdown Dawson was speedy deleted A7, but only after much copyvio asserting notability was removed. Could you please restore it to my user sandbox, with {{subst:copyvio}} if required? I'd like to clean it up and get it back into main space with appropriate references, as he appears to have done notable work with Noel Gourdin and Urban Mystic. Thanks, Ruby Murray 18:31, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Done. See User:Ruby Murray/Handzdown -- Y not? 18:44, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Deleting the entry Άρης Καμπανός[edit]

Dear Y,

I would like to ask whether I can rework on my article with the title above, I`m sorry I did not state the importance of his contribution, it`s my first article and I was not fully aware of the rules. Can I please try once more?

Thank you for your answer in advance, N — Preceding unsigned comment added by N vafeiadis (talkcontribs) 22:32, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Wright Business[edit]

I was just curious why the page on Wright Business was taken down (,_Inc.). I appreciated the fact that the page provided details on what is a truly predatory business. Was there a libel or slander complaint from the company?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 18:27, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Truly predatory? Do you have any reliable sources calling this business "truly predatory"? To the extent you have good sources, kindly add them to Judith Sewell Wright. -- Y not? 18:44, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

please stop deleting my page, it is quite frustrating. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phev1803 (talkcontribs) 15:04, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'd like to point out that none of the previous complaints about deleting Wright Business were by me, the initial creator. In my view the original page was not "predatory." It included details from the company's website as well as more controversial elements from various sources. I would say on the whole it was as balanced a resource on the company that was available until it was deleted. It was suggested to me on my undeletion request ( that I contact you directly. I'd be happy to ensure the page has proper secondary sources and substantial, balanced information if it's userfied as suggested. J TerMaat (talk) 20:21, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

RGB Networks page[edit]

I'd like to understand why the RGB Networks page ( was removed. You said it was removed for "unambiguous advertising or promotion," and I'd like to dispute that. This is a company that is a very important player in broadcast technology. All information on that page, with the exception of the investors and locations of offices, had specific citations from major industry or business news publications; it referred to the Wikipedia pages on relevant technologies; it referred to the Wikipedia pages of competitors (or in one instance when the competitor did not have a page, it referred to the competitor's website directly). The tone of the copy was very non-promotional, and particularly in contrast to each of the competitors to which this page linked. If this page does not conform, then those pages should be removed as well, though that is not what we're requesting. I would ask you to please cite for us the specific text in which you believe this page does not conform to Wikipedia policies so that we can amend that text and bring it into compliance. It is patently unfair to exclude one player -- the one with the biggest market share -- in an industry, but allow all its competitors to have pages. I hope you will help us in fixing problems so that we can bring our page into compliance.

Thank you for your assistance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jsidline (talkcontribs) 16:30, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Who is the "we" who are not requesting that the competitors' pages be deleted? -- Y not? 16:56, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Ah yes, never mind. Google told me that you must be RGB press contact John Sidline with Mobility Public Relations. I think your job function has just successfully proved the correctness of my deletion rationale. Unfortunately, we do not tolerate conflict-of-interest contributions from professional PR people such as yourself. Further attempts to promote RGB, or any other client, will likely be met with a block. -- Y not? 17:05, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

An exciting month of wiki events![edit]

Hello there,

I am pleased to say that April will be a very exciting month for Wikipedia in Washington, DC. We have a lot of different events coming up, so you will have a lot to choose from.

First, a reminder that our second annual Women in the Arts Edit-a-Thon will take place on Sunday, March 30 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Coming up in April, we have our first-ever Open Government WikiHack with the Sunlight Foundation on April 5–6! We are working together to use open government data to improve the Wikimedia projects, and we would love your help. All are welcome, regardless of coding or editing experience. We will also be having a happy hour the day before, with refreshments courtesy of the Sunlight Foundation.

On Friday, April 11 we are having our first edit-a-thon ever with the Library of Congress. The Africa Collection Edit-a-Thon will focus on the Library's African and Middle East Reading Room. It'll be early in the morning, but it's especially worth it if you're interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage of African topics.

The following day, we are having our second annual Wiki Loves Capitol Hill training. We will discuss policy issues relevant to Wikimedia and plan for our day of outreach to Congressional staffers that will take place during the following week.

There are other meetups in the works, so be sure to check our meetup page with the latest. I hope to see you at some of these events!

All the best,
James Hare

A Escrava Isaura → A Escrava Isaura (disambiguation)[edit]

Hi, what do you mean by "seek consensus"? I just want to return this page back to its original title, by moving it over a redirect... no one seems to be opposing it; are you? If so, may I know for what reason? —capmo (talk) 03:04, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

It's not obvious to me why A Escrava Isaura should redirect to one of the links, instead of being a disambiguation page. Just propose the move on the talk page and let people have a chance to weigh in. Once you have that consensus, tag it for WP:G6 then and someone will enforce that consensus for you. G6 does not apply when it's not obvious. -- Y not? 10:44, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Y,

Henry Russell Bruce was deleted for G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion. This page was explicitly made to be purely informational about the business' history, status, and events. Why was this page deleted? It was a factual page, based on the actual events and truth of John Marsden, born 1950. Who is a well Respected mottram cricketer and has been for any decades. The deletion of this page seems strange and I wish it to be re-considered as there are many parties who have expressed a strict desire to contribute to the page with more facts and further detail about johns earlier life. This is a very formal page that John is contributing to himself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hmjmoore (talkcontribs) 18:55, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Continental Bank of Canada[edit]

Thank you for your help with the Continental Bank of Canada articles. Although, I think there is a bit of a confusion with which articles should be deleted. There are two banks under the Continental name: one was established in 1980 and is now defunct, and the other was just established. In the past the Continental Bank article attempted to cover both of them. My intent was to move old bank's content into the Continental Bank of Canada (1980) and bring the new bank content into the old shell. The new bank's article (Continental Bank of Canada (CBoC)) was admittedly fluffy and it was my intent to cut it down to a stub. I was trying to move the new bank's article to the space left after old's move. That's where request for deletion came in. I think deleting the new bank's article was a bit too aggressive.

Ultimately, I think I can work with what we have now. What I will do is re-create Continental Bank of Canada (1980) article without moving, and keep a stub article for the new bank in the remaining space. Does this make sense?--Truther2012 (talk) 16:48, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Please move as needed. The CBoC article was pure G11. If you're willing and able to write a non-promotional article from reliable sources, be my guest. I wonder even if the 1980 bank should simply be redirect to one of its successors? It's not like the article is adding a lot. That would resolve the question of which CBOC should take the primary name. Maybe you can do a stub about the new bank, and leave a hatnote toward the successor about the old bank? Just a suggestion. -- Y not? 18:30, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll put it up for talk. But it makes sense, it's not like there is any new information likely to pop up for the defunct bank. Thanks again. --Truther2012 (talk) 19:06, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Brian Vala Nahed[edit]

Hello Y, It seems to me the subject of the article is actively involved in writing and editing the article and has turned it into a personal résumé. Even the Wikipedia's automated service has picked up on that, "Grig8wan9rat7ok4 (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic". When I removed the second paragraph of the main article (on Behrouz "Brian" Vala Nahed) for being laughably promotional, it was quickly reverted. Even on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brian Vala Nahed's page, the user "Grig8wan9rat7ok4" removed/edited the comments that he did not like, so I clicked on "View history" in order to undo his edits, but was unable to do so, as it asked for it to be done "manually". The consensus seems to be that the article should be deleted for good. As an administrator, you have the authority to remove it. Thank you for your assistance. Follow-up to Bidens[edit]

Hi, Regarding the articles on Beau Biden and Hunter Biden, I realize that their mother, as the US Second Lady, does not mean that they are second ladies, however neither are either of them Joe Biden. While Joe Biden is a related article to both of his sons, so is Jill Biden a related article to both of her sons. Is there not a way to reflect that? I'm just curious. It would be nice to reflect that Jill Biden, as a US Second Lady, is included in her sons' profiles, such as with a footer for her at the bottom of their pages. I tried to see if I could do that in both articles, however there is no footer category that has been set up for something like that. How can that be accomplished as I'm interested in having that be reflected on the sons' pages. Thanks, Daniellagreen (talk) 17:12, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

It's quite simply the case that Joe has his own personal navigational template, in which both his sons are linked. As such, it is appropriate to display this template on their pages, for the benefit of readers who want to systematically read everything related to Joe. Jill, on the other hand, has no personal navigational template. The US Second Ladies template is only appropriate for the articles of the ladies listed therein. Since the boys aren't listed, they don't get the template. Simple as that. -- Y not? 17:37, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
I think you might have accomploished it is by creating a navigational template for Jill, if there were enough articles about her (which there aren't). Joe has ten articles directly related to him. But Jill doesn't. That's why there's no individual navigational template for her. -- Y not? 17:42, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your information. I am still learning about these things. Perhaps a navigational template for Jill may be created in the future. Is there a minimum number of articles that is required for the creation of a template? Daniellagreen (talk) 15:58, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
There might be some guidelines or precedent on it somewhere, I am not sure. There would have to be a bunch. -- Y not? 23:01, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
