Vandalism[edit]

Hi, I received a "first warning" in regards to vandalism on the US African Immigrants page, and I just wanted to clear up that I did not do anything to vandalize the page. Myster Pacific (talk) 12:38, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for adding the information on US African immigrants to the template and making that article one to watch. Hope you stick around and keep helping with WP:AFRO. futurebird 01:45, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

hi, regarding Mali[edit]

I finally figured out how to talk to you. I thought you didn't have a page cuz the link to your name went nowhere. As far as the Mali Empire page is concerned, I admit I'm a bit defensive. It is kinda my baby and 90% of the info there was put by me after literally weeks of digging through books and websites. No one was really eager to help me get it off the ground and I had to discover the ins and outs of wiki on my lonesome (as I'm sure you probably had to). I still don't know how to properly put up pictures (and I got a lot of good ones, too). Still I digress. The main reason I'm writing is because I felt and still feel your grading of the article was wrong. There were only positive changes in the article since its initial rating, so for its grade to go down didn't make any sense. I'm also pretty clueless on the criteria for grading (not so much how to grade but who can grade). Apparently anyone from wikiAfrica project can do so, and that's cool. But since I'm also a member I figure my input is just as valid. I'm sure your input is too and don't mean to sound dismissive (TEMPER, TEMPER). I hope you see where I'm coming from. If wiki's grading works in a way to where everyone can grade a page, then I believe it is only proper that the average of that grade be displayed for the page. The first grade was GA; yours is B. I honestly believe it is a GA cuz it does need some polish. All together, I think an average of GA is what we'd come out with. Please hit me back and let me know what you think and sorry if I came off like an a@@.

Image:KingoKingdom.jpg[edit]

Hi. Long time no chat. I'm writing in regard to the Image:KingoKingdom.jpg. I'm not 100% (or even 50%) that the manikongo depicted in it is Afonso I of Kongo. Still, it is a great picture and thank you so much for finding it. I've recently come across some pics myself. I added the coat of arms and put up a picture of Joao I of Kongo plus an image of the Kongo flag. Could u please hit me back and let me know how u found out this picture is showing Afonso. If we can't discern that much, I strongly suggest we add the picture to the Manikongo page. It would fit there very well. Thnx for listening and keep up all the good work.  :) Scott Free 12:51, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Thnx for hitting me back. I went thru the link and looked elsewhere on the sight but couldn't finde a caption or anything that said it was Afonso. Could u provide me with a link to the page where u saw it at. The link on the image just brings you to the image. I know that it is an image of the manikongo. i've become very familiar with Kongo and its relationship with Portugal in the last couple of months (wish I'd started studying them earlier). Holla back when u can. Scott Free 12:35, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Black African immigrants[edit]

Hello, Yellowfiver.

Per the preponderance of the data and sources currently in the article, it is overwhelmingly a Black African immigrant article. There's nothing wrong with that, except that in that case, as it currently stands, it is mistitled. And it literally started out as an explicitly Black African immigrant article. Check out this sentence: "Despite both being black, African Immigrants and black Americans (those who have been in the U.S. for a minimum of 5 generations) have many differences." That's in the first paragraph, of the very first edit![1] Middayexpress likes to talk about the 'purpose' of the article. Well, there it is. SamEV (talk) 01:19, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey man. The edit looks fine; just as long as the information is included, all's cool. Middayexpress (talk) 18:47, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

I see that you identified his ethnicity as 'Coromantee'. Would you happen to have a source for that piece of information? Regards, --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 16:16, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Hi Yellowfiver, thanks for uploading Gya Nyame simbols in Gold and Black. The Template Akan was created by me, in contrast to the Akan flag and Coat of arms colors. I will use the second color scheme of Gold for a separate box "Template:Akan History" which I will create soon. Thanks again for your contribution and keep doing a great job – MarkMysoe (talk) 08:42, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for advice[edit]

Thanks for the advice Yellowfiver. I will take your advice of just adding category instead of removing category next time. I want to thank you again for your help on the Coromantee and Ashanti topics – MarkMysoe (talk) 01:37, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Excessive Images on Ghana Page[edit]

Hi MarkMysoe, I like to check on the Ghana page and it seems you have been up to your usual picture-booking. The Ghana page already has too many pictures thanks to you. Can you not provide additional detail in the form of information? Why must it always be a picture. And you needed three pictures of Kofi Annan? My name is Kofi, but seriously, not every important picture of Ghana needs to be on there. Additionally, you have clearly vandalized pages with your incessant replacement of Ghana with "Akanland." I like the fact that there is a fellow Ghanaian editor on here, but if you continue with edits that detract from the pages' content, then we will have to settle this in other ways. You have been moderately useful in your Nana Akufo-Addo edits. Remember, wikipedia is meant to serve as an encyclopedia. Not national geographic or Time Magazine. The bulk of us here in the US, use the page for raw information. Even at Yale, people use it on assignments. The point is, treat Wikipedia more like a scholarly research tool. Not a tool for Akan propaganda (I'm 100% Akan btw). And not a tool to show Ghanaian pride (I'm 100% Ghanaian btw). But a way to scholarly describe subjects. Your edits clearly have biases and I mean to root these biases out entirely. If your edits were more focused and scholarly, you'd be the most useful Ghanaian editor on wikipedia. --Yellowfiver (talk) 07:59, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi Yellowfiver, it has been a longtime since we have last spoken with each other. I have reduced a few images on the Ghana page that seemed redundant and I left the relevant and most informative images so that the Ghana page will no longer be filled with excessive images. --MarkMysoe (talk) 09:35, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
