[edit] Reclaiming Yorkshire on the web

Thank goodness Wikipedia does not have a monopoly on the web. Not every wiki project seems set on denying the existence of Yorkshire and busying itself with cutting the United Kingdom itself up. Not every wiki project is written in American and insists that every article be as bland, colourless and useless as possible in the name of "encyclopaedic content", and it is not just Wikipedia which feeds the rest of the web, though it does its best to be the monopoly provider.

Are you a member of the YRS by any chance?

Howard Alexander (talk) 19:47, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

I have been elsewhere recently. It is far easier to write on a wiki which uses real counties and ridings and which does not strike down as "POV" anything with an adjective. (The WP article on Edinburgh does not use the word "magnificent" once, nor that on Lavenham the word "pretty", which suggests no understanding of either place.)
While most counties have fulsome articles over at the rival concern, I will admit that one barely covered as yet is Yorkshire, but that is just because there is so much to be said about Yorkshire that it will take a man with great stamina to try to make a worthy article about it.
