Why has a new Welcome page been added? I know how to work Wikipedia and have been on for over a year and it has only just appeared.

Z2a I added it because it has a few more links and things that you need to learn about if you want to be able to help others. There is actually even one more welcome template that has about 60 links (this one has about 20) if you want the whole thing. I would be happy to post it for you. You will need this extra knowledge to help others. Technical 13 (talk) 19:18, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Edits[edit]

Please read the policies linked above. They will help you to understand why you can't add opinions to articles as you did to Roberto Mancini without them being supported by reliable sources. Also please don't keep adding ===Heading Text=== into articles - that is just considered vandalism. NtheP (talk) 21:27, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

How many articles have I put ===Heading Text=== in because I dont remember putting it In — Preceding unsigned comment added by Z2a (talkcontribs) 22:37, 25 January 2012‎

I have removed the <code><nowiki> from your last post because they were blocking the proper processing of the {{help me}}.
You are probably adding the === Heading text === accidentally. When you are editing, you will notice that above the edit box is a row of buttons and links. If you click on "Advanced", then another row appears: in this is a drop-down menu titled "Heading". You are probably selecting something in there.
You can check your contributions on a general level by using the "My contributions" link at top right; then check the "diff" links listed there. Going through that list I see the following: [1], [2], [3], [4]. These four edits all contain one or more instances of a spurious === Heading text ===, and all four edits occurred on 8 January 2012. This edit of 17 January 2012 (in the section below the "Line 3" heading) also contains what appears to be an accident, but caused by using the Vector toolbar indentation button.png button when the cursor was inside somebody else's signature. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:36, 25 January 2012 (UTC).

Like it said some articles I made may be erased What Are the issues raised to improve it?

Well, first note that Wikipedia does not seek to predict future events. These events will likely happen, but until they do (or at least until third-party sources pick up the story of the future event) they should not have Wikipedia articles. The articles will be created in time; right now there is probably not much you can do right now to prevent their deletion. --Chris (talk) 18:13, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

I saw this on a article what does it mean? It is proposed that this article be deleted because of the following concern: Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. When this event occurs (if it occurs -- the future is never certain), the article may be created then.

If you can address this concern by improving, copyediting, sourcing, renaming or merging the page, please edit this page and do so. You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to deletion for any reason. However, please explain why you object to the deletion, either in your edit summary or on the talk page. If this template is removed, it should not be replaced.

The article may be deleted if this message remains in place for seven days, i.e., after 15:50 on 8 February

It means exactly what I said above -- this event is a future event, and the article as written does not contain any sources that indicate that the event is going to happen. Therefore, the article is currently unverifiable speculation, and is not appropriate for Wikipedia. --Chris (talk) 15:19, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Gangneung City FC Vandalism[edit]

April 2012[edit]

How do i contact Wikipedia because people are editing a page with things that are not true because people are putting LET'S ALL EDIT GANGNEUNG'S WIKIPEDIA and then there links so then most of the information on the site will be false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Z2a (talkcontribs) 15:50, 22 April 2012‎ (UTC)

It was an apparently concerted vandal attack on the Gangneung City FC article. This sort of thing has happened before, and the standard response is to semi-protect the article. It should be safe for the next three months. If you come across similar shenanigans in the future, you should request protection for the article at WP:RFPP. Another attack has happened on this article making FMCV,Soap and Mike Joshua owner, Chairman and Manager respectivly this came from the same people who done previous attacks a while ago, I have edited them away so Would like the Correct versions of this infomation added by someone who knows as I do not want to add incorrect infomation.

I have reverted various unsourced and dubious changes, but since the article doesn't cite any sources whatsoever it's hard to tell what is correct. Huon (talk) 18:26, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

I would suggest making it through Articles for Creation. WP:AFC. Please can someone help me to let me know how I can help people with their help me requests becase I do not understand the reply from Dru of Id

Hello Z2a. I suggest starting out by joining the IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help connect and watching how we help people. Once you have watched for a bit, you may try to help some people there where other responders can see how you do. After helping a few others, you may request to know the channel that the responders use so that you can learn more about the process. You may also add {{User:Technical 13/Userboxes/Help me responder}} to your userpage to see when people are looking for help. It will either show a smiley sun saying all is well and no-one is looking for help or give you a count of those that need help. Click on the number, read their question, and show them where to find the answers to their question. If you can't answer a question, skip it and someone else will get it. It is okay to not know the answers. Only if you are 100% sure that you know the right answer should you try to help. When you help, it is normal protocol to check the "Watch this page" button to make sure that whomever you helped doesn't have a follow-up question. If you need any further help, I am watching this page and would be happy to help you further. Technical 13 (talk) 19:09, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, I forget to be clearer sometimes. While anyone has the Help me template in use, they are linked from the category until someone response and adds -helped to the template. Dru of Id (talk) 14:30, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

How do you become a Administrator on Wikipedia as some things i click on say only they can edit it

Some pages are fully protected for short periods of time so that only administrators can edit. You can request edits on the talk page of the article if you see a change that needs to be made. Admins are nominated for adminship and the community decides whether or not they are suitable. It takes a lot of experience and a very thorough understanding of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines to become an administrator. OohBunnies! (talk) 15:10, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Roberto Mancini[edit]

,

They has been a vandal attack on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia_national_football_team saying Roberto Mancini is manager i think it should be protected so it shouldnt happen in the future as this is not true as he is only being linked with the role at the moment

The place to request protection of a page is WP:RFPP, but protection is normally used only if there is repeated vandalism or an edit war, and this addition has only been made once. Also, though the information may be premature, that is not necessarily vandalism, which is "a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia." JohnCD (talk) 21:24, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Edit on Christian Benitez[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Struway2. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, Christian Benítez, but that you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Struway2 (talk) 13:13, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

My sources show that my infomation was accurate, the only edit i done was changing the club years to just 2013 from 2013 was present as your Wikipedia page shown that Christian had passed away.

Hello, and thanks for questioning my message. At the time, there were no sources present in the article to verify Mr Benítez' death. We're expected to always supply a source for changes to articles, particularly where controversial changes are being made to biographies of living persons. No harm was done in this case, as sadly he really had died, but another time, you'd be wise not to change articles without a reliable source for your changes. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:29, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Article Feedback Tool update[edit]

Hey Z2a. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:35, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

When I sign off my posts by typing four tildes, I want to change the name that comes up. How do I do this? (W-E (talk) 15:00, 21 February 2014 (UTC)).

Click "Preferences" at the top of the page, and on the "User profile" tab there is a "Signature" section where you can specify a custom signature. There are some rules about what is allowed: read WP:Signatures first. JohnCD (talk) 15:56, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
