Uuno Turhapuro is the first, black and white Uuno Turhapuro film from year 1973. Before it Uuno was performed only in scethes of Spede Show by Spede Pasanen. The movie has not been yet any great success, but the character began build up his popularity gradually with the movie serie increase. In that film appeared Uuno Turhapuro (Vesa-Matti Loiri) as well as his wife Elisabet Turhapuro (Marjatta Raita) and friends Härski-Hartikainen (Pertti Pasanen) and Lettunen (Simo Salminen; the name of Lettunen is Sörsselssön in the most later Uuno-films). Uuno's father-in-law, the leader Tuura who has the central role in the later Uuno-films, doesn't perform yet in that film. Other actors are Juhani Kumpulainen, Mirjam Kumpulainen, Leila Itkonen, Anna-Liisa Ruotsi, Rauni Ikäheimo, Tiia Louste, Hellevi Seiro, Aarno Sulkanen (in the cuted role), Kaarina Tuunanen, Nipa Niemi, Eeva-Liisa Haimelin, Ari Laine, Mari Alakoski, Antti Einiö, Jukka Virtanen, Titta Jokinen, Erkki Kokkonen, Pirjo Honkasalo, Mona Loiri, Jorma Kairavuo, Seppo Kohvakka, Eero Lietola and Klaus Relander.

In that movie, Uuno goes with his wife to spend summer holiday to their villa in country, studies playing of the violin in a correspondence course and constructs an own violin with do-it-yourself-method, but quits his career when he perceives that takes his free time too much and comes back to live the life "in the shadow of a fridge". In the start scene of film a priest (Ere Kokkonen as voice) says in the Uuno's weddings that his complete name is Uuno Eero Turhapuro, whereas it's in the all later Uuno-films Uuno Daavid Goljat Turhapuro.
