VgaSave is designed in Microsoft Windows to load automatically when the default designated video card driver does not work, or if a newly installed video card driver refuses to work.
VgaSave is enabled by default and should not be disabled. If you disable it and reboot, there is a strong chance the system may not boot, since during boot-time it is used as a fail-safe. The driver consists of two files, VGA.DLL and VGA.SYS.
To enable VGASAVE in Windows press F8 during your computers "boot" up until the advanced troubleshooting screen is reached. Then select to enable VGA. This should not be done unless your having video related problems on your current video driver and VGA does not automatically take effect. To find out if you have VgaSave enabled:
1.Right click your desktop.
2.Select Properties.
3.Click Settings tab.
4.Click Advanced button.
5.Click Adapter tab.
6.Click Properties.
Then you will see VgaSave listed as your adapter.
*Warning* Stopping/Uninstalling or corrupting the VgaSave would be only destructive for the computer. It is not necessary to do this even when adding a new video hardware.
