Valentin Aleksandrovich Kotyk (1930-02-11 - 1944-02-17) - was a Soviet pioneer, and a partisan scout. He was also the youngest ever Hero of Soviet Union.
During German-Soviet War he participated in partisan movement in Ukraine. First was coherent, then participated in fights, has been twice wounded, and killed in action. He received the Order of the Patriotic War 1st class and the Medal "Partisan of the Patriotic War".
In 1957 the film, devoted to it is removed. In 1958 the rank of the Hero of Soviet Union is posthumously appropriated. After that a name of the Hero of Soviet Union Bring down Kotyk streets, pioneer teams, schools, steam-ships are named, on the native land the monument to the pioneer-hero is established.
