Valley Christian High School (Cerritos, California)

Valley Christian High School, located in Cerritos, California, is one of the largest protestant schools in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. It was founded in 1935 and is part of a K-12 school system with 3 campuses (elementary, middle and high school) enrolling more than 1500 students. In 2005, during its accreditation review, it again received the highest degree of commendation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.[1][2] Valley Christian Schools is a member of Christian Schools International (CSI) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

VCHS graduates who are accepted to the University of California have the highest SAT scores of any Protestant, Catholic, or Lutheran high school in L.A. and Orange County (see UC's website [1]) and comparison table at[2].
VCHS students score a 64% pass rate (3 or higher) on AP exams, gaining them college credits.
VCHS graduates gain admittance to the top Christian, private and public universities including Ivy League colleges, MIT, Vanderbilt University, Swarthmore College, Cal Berkeley, UCLA, USC and the military academies.[3]

VCHS teams have won 170 league championships, 26 CIF titles, 3 California state championships (and another 3 state runner ups), and 1 National championship (1999 USA Today #1 ranked girl's volleyball team in America). [4]
Individual standounts include over 300 All-CIF athletes, 22 CIF "Player of the Year" selections, and over 100 college scholarship winners (including to USC and UCLA). [5] Several athletes have made it to the pros including Kirk Saarloos, VCHS class of 1997, currently pitching for the Cincinnati Reds.[6]

- David Smock - Sportscaster, Internet TV play-by-play announcer for California State University, Dominguez Hills
- Kristen Cavinder - Miss California in the Miss America 2010 pageant (transferred; did not graduate)
