[edit] Neighborhood council
The interests of the residents of Valley Village are represented by a citizen advisory board known as the Neighborhood Council Valley Village (NCVV), which functions as a conduit or bridge between City Hall and Valley Village. Neighborhood Council Valley Village consists of 15 board members elected by the Stakeholders. In order to give a voice to every segment of the community the board is elected from qualified representatives as follows: Three residential homeowners, three residential renters, three business owners/representatives, one educational community, one faith-based community, one community-based senior organization, one community-based service organization, one community-based cultural organization, and one at-large representative.
A new website has now been created specifically to bring Valley Village neighborhoods together. It has divided the entire region into 21 smaller neighborhoods, and citizens can then go to specific message boards to discuss what's going on in their area. There is also a section for neighbors to share their experiences with contractors (good or bad) and they can also talk about restaurants, businesses and even criminal activity in the area. [edit] Education
Residents of the neighborhood attend school in the Los Angeles Unified School District.[2] Some residents are zoned to Colfax Elementary School, Burbank Elementary School (North Hollywood), or Riverside Elementary School (in Sherman Oaks). Some residents are zoned to Walter Reed Middle School (in Studio City) or Millikan Middle School (in Sherman Oaks). For high school, Valley Village residents attend either North Hollywood High School (in Valley Village) or Grant High School (in Valley Glen).[1][3]
The high school campus of Oakwood School, a private school, is in Valley Village.[1][4]
Due to the significant amount of Orthodox Jews living in Valley Village, many families choose to send their children to Yeshivat Yavneh in Hancock Park, California for schooling from "Mommy & Me" to the 8th Grade, or to Emek Hebrew Academy (Yeshivat HaEmek) in Sherman Oaks. For grade 9th through 12, high school, many[citation needed] families choose to send their children to Yeshiva University of Los Angeles (YULA) in Los Angeles or Valley Torah High School (VTHS) in Valley Village.
